Mike Personally, I enjoyed reading this book again and I really enjoyed the comments made by the group. Thanks to each and every one of you. Also, thanks to those who stopped in to look around, you are always welcome.

I feel that Dr. Carroll has done the Catholic community a real service by keeping the fullness and richness of Catholic history alive and readable. Not only was his text accessible and clear but his bibliography was outstanding. Anyone interested in further study can use his notes and citations to stay busy learning Catholic Church history over the next few years.

When we first started I posted some audio files on church history, please go back and listen to those, they will mean more now that you are off to a good start. Hopefully, there will be other books by Carroll in your reading future.

Leslie | 359 comments Agreed! I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I learned tons from the author and our members. We have a great group and I look forward to our future reads already.

Mike, thank you for your time. I will go back and dig out those audio clips. :-)

Truly, it was his attention to detail that made this book stand out from so many other similar books on this topic.

I already purchased the others in this series. LOL. I'd be happy to read more on this with anyone interested.

Susan Margaret (susanmargaretg) | 538 comments I think my favorite chapters in this book were chapters 1 thru 11, which covered the beginning of the universe up until the birth of Christ. I found reading the Old Testament and stories about some of the prophets along side reading The Founding of Christendom book was very helpful for my understanding. I enjoyed this book discussion and am thankful for those who have participated.

I am a little sad to see the discussion end on this book. There were many thoughtful and interesting comments made by our group members.

Thank you Mike for leading this discussion. You did an excellent job!

Leslie | 359 comments I saw this today and thought I'd share. I thought it is interesting that both of our group's current readings are on this list. They suggest volumes 1-4 of Warren Carroll.

Leslie | 359 comments I'm currently reading Angels and Saints: A Biblical Guide to Friendship with God's Holy Ones by Scott Hahn and wanted to share that with you as the saints are so much more meaningful having finished this book. He has some information not in our book and our book has a few things not in his book.
