Yicheng Liu (liu0019) | 229 comments Hello prospective readers and fellow inksharesian! I am an aspiring writer that needs your help to reach the magical light publishing goal of 250 copies. I only have 57 preorders and I haven't had a backer in two weeks. 130 days to go and the general radio silence is well, frustrating to say the least. I will be brief and just want to shout out my book here.

So I am currently writing this in Nanowrimo season, so I won't have time to beg every person I come across, so I just want to put this message out there as a last ditch effort to gain more readers/backers.

This story is mainly about two guys who had stumbled into a conspiracy where aliens controls the world government. In a mad dash across the globe to find out the truth and prove his innocence before the police can catch up and put him into jail, he followed his friend from country to country in an attempt to undo a decades-old conspiracy.

I guarantee you it is not as stupid as it sounds and the hate for Donald trump is subliminal.

There will be a lot of humorous moments and interesting characters that I want to bring to life, but IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN if I can't get enough preorders in time. If you like what I said so far(it's actually got a more complicated plot and backstory surround this. But like I said, I want to keep this brief with no spoilers. That, and I suck at making plot summaries. ), please pledge some of your credits to me and help me put a book that I think is worth reading into the libraries and bookshelves everywhere.

"How I spend my free time will now depend on you. No pressure."

While $20.00 is a lot and I don't expect any of you out there will be impressed by this message, I need that psychological boost and reassurance that I am not chasing a hopeless dream. Thank you.

Paul Robinson (robo3687) | 93 comments A small piece of advice: don't be so negative about your own work.

You need to show more confidence in the work you're doing, don't present it as something you think might fail. Continually saying you 'suck' at this or that, or that the story is pointless, or that you don't expect people to like it isn't going to instil a lot of confidence in anyone looking for a book to support.

You've still got over 4 months left of funding, so you're nowhere near "last ditch" type things just yet. Try not to come across as desperate, especially this far out, or people will smell it a mile off and run for the hills.

Lastly, I would advise against saying things like "screw you" in a post asking people to support you, even if the intention was to be humourous it's probably something that'd be better left unsaid. If I hadn't already backed your book that last line would have given me pause about doing it.

Yicheng Liu (liu0019) | 229 comments Thanks for the friendly advice! I admit that saying screw you was probably stepping over the line and I probably wasn't exactly in the best of moods when I realized that I still have to convince at least another 150+ people to spend $20.00 on something that I am pretty certain aren't exactly going to be the next Hitchhickers guide or Harry Potter, so I feel kind of justified on saying my book kind of suck when this is the first time I embarked anything as challenging as writing 100,000+ words.
