Happy November!

The poll for November's read is now closed and our book of the month is Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. Allison and I are looking forward to reading and discussing this book with each of you!

A discussion for Miss Peregrine's will be posted later this week, we can't wait to hear your thoughts and opinions. I personally enjoyed this cute little book and am excited to continue with the series.

A few matters of business:

1). We would like to know if you'd like more check-in's while reading the monthly book. This month, we are going to do a check-in, half way through the month, and include a few discussion questions for the first half of the book and then do a final post like we normally do upon completion of the novel and month.

2). To be more efficient, we will be asking for future monthly book suggestions at the beginning of each new month, and then listing the poll by the 15th of the month. This will give you more time to think of books as well as participate in the poll.

3). We have also thought about giving you the option to choose from the top two winners on the poll, instead of just having one book each month. If this is something you'd be interested in, please let us know, so we can have this go in affect next month.

We'd like to give a special shoutout to all our new group members! Don't forget if you have a book you really want to read, that isn't the choice for the month, we have a section for buddy reads, and so far, they have been so fun to participate in. :)

We hope every one has a wonderful start to November, I know I'm looking forward to the upcoming holidays!!

Lisa Brocklebank | 57 comments I would love a check-in midmonth. I think that's a great idea to post some discussion questions throughout the month! Look forward to discussing Miss P and to our next read! Thanks for organizing Cate!

Caitlin I am so excited to read this book! Having never participated in a book club discussion before, I am totally open to whatever everyone thinks is best. I also think that it would be cool to choose from the top two winners instead of one book a month, because it could give us the option to read two books, if we like both of them, and discuss them.

Caitlin,

Again, I'm so glad you joined out group! And I agree with you I think having two books to choose from is a great idea! More discussion and more options! :)

freckledbibliophile Hi, everyone! I hope you all are well. I will try and find this book at our local used bookstore and enjoy reading with you all. I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on the read.

I'll be the voice of opposition and caution against picking two books a month. I think that, if we had more users and stronger participation from everyone each month, two would be great. Then we could have multiple people running discussions and everyone could choose what they like best. We're still pretty small, though, and I think two books might lead to even less participation each month, especially with the buddy reads. Maybe we can actually add more of those for people who want more options and/or to read more. I'm planning to add one for Miss P's for those who want to read the rest of the series.

Pages & Cup | 41 comments I've got a such a busy month (and a lot of personal "must-reads") that I don't think I'll be able to participate in the BOTM discussion for November. I hope to join you all in December though!

Kelly Stevens | 19 comments Honestly we need to have two books to choose from
Because It adds a selection of choices for people who have either already read the book or aren't interested in a certain genre
