Rivka Levy | 5 comments Hi fellow Goodreaders

I have two strings to my bow:

1) Jewish author of a few God-based holistic health and happiness books (the next one out is 'Talk to God and Fix your Health'

2) Blog book reviewer of all 'clean' Jewish-related non-fiction, plus holistic health books, particularly energy medicine with a scientific bent.

If either of those sound remotely interesting to you, it would be great to befriend.

cheers

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) Hi, I'm Alicia Butcher Ehrhardt. I'm new to Goodreads, though I've had an account for a while.

I'm a very slow writer, and just published my first novel, Pride's Children: Purgatory, on Amazon. I'm laying out the POD, will later tackle the audiobook (I love 'read by author' books), and can't wait to get back to writing because the first book is only part of the story.

Pride's Children is a mainstream contemporary story, but mainstream seems to have disappeared as a category unless you want to call it 'General Fiction,' which is so unspecific as to be almost useless. It's subtitled 'A novel of obsession, betrayal, and love.' It is PG-13 - most adolescents could read it without getting into anything too graphic, but the themes are for grownups.

I'm looking forward to finding like-minded readers and writers on Goodreads.

And reviewers!

Alicia

Bradley Ernst | 20 comments Hello everyone~

I am a new author. I wrote my first novel last year, made it "pretty" for another year, and have hired a great editor to polish it for me further… I will be looking for honest reviews in late February. It is a thriller. I plan to self publish on Amazon in April… many thanks to Goodreads for the resources and encouragements to be found here! It is difficult to connect with authors and reviewers without this type of resource.

The Last Stoic by Morgan Wade

Hi everyone,

Morgan Wade here, a fiction writer living in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. My short stories and poems have been published in Canadian literary journals and anthologies, including, The New Quarterly and The Nashwaak Review. My debut novel, The Last Stoic was long listed for the ReLit Award for Fiction.

I've just released my second novel, Bottle and Glass.

Bottle and Glass is a story of survival and escape told from the barstools of two dozen boisterous Kingston taverns at the close of the War of 1812.

Helen Humphreys, award‐winning novelist and poet laureate of Kingston, Ontario, had this to say:

"Bottle and Glass is a highly original adventure story, set during the war of 1812, and framed using real taverns that once existed within the city of Kingston, Ontario. A fascinating study of escape, and a powerful history of 19th century frontier life; Bottle and Glass is a stunning achievement."

I'd love for anyone who is interested to review Bottle and Glass. I'm currently running a giveaway, ending Nov. 23rd:

https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...

I'd be happy to send a PDF version to anyone interested in writing a review.

Alicia Hooper | 2 comments Reunion with the Colonel

Hi everyone!

My name's Alicia Hooper and I'm an indie author based in Virginia. I'm new to Goodreads and excited to be involved with the community here.

My debut novella, called Reunion with with the Colonel, is a fictional political thriller set in Gaddafi's Libya. It is the first in a trilogy. Current events inspired me to write it; I was especially interested in writing about a seldom explored historical narrative.

I published my book last February, but had a hard time publicizing it to readers because I was working abroad at the time (internet is hard to come by in developing countries). Now I'm working to get my book out to readers, especially now that Benghazi is a household name. :)

I'd love to connect with other readers, reviewers, and fellow authors!

Jack Dancer (jackdancer) | 3 comments Hello everyone. I am the author of the Detour Paris Series - three books: Detour Paris, Detour Allure and Detour Amour. Detour Paris has several reviews on Goodreads already posted, Detour Allure has around 12 or so review being posted and Detour Amour should have a dozen or so posted over the next month or so.

Reviews for these books have been good and I would like to offer to review books of new authors writing in similar genres - romantic thrillers, thrillers, suspense, even erotica thriller and/or suspense.

Contact me with requests but please read some of the reviews of my books first as I would prefer to read and review books of a similar nature, at least for the time being.

I am an avid reader of virtually all genres and have been for decades. I have a post graduate education and have spent my career in media and communications and creative critique.

As I would expect only honest reviews of my work that's exactly what I will promise to provide along with constructive criticism.

One of the things that I found a bit irksome from a few of the reviewers of my work was that even though the books clearly disclosed "adult only" upfront, some reviewers actually complained about explicit scenes of sex or violence.

Frankly my feeling was that they shouldn't have been reading the books in the first place much less written a literary review. If a reviewer is biased against a book's content going in they have no more business writing a literary review on that content than an atheist has writing a literary review on the content of the Bible.

But what I found even more interesting was that some of these same reviewers made the same complaint with books two and three of the series which leads me to suppose that one can be "put off" yet still "turned on."

Jayden Hunter | 2 comments I started reviewing on Amazon back in 1999,,,,my reviewer ranking was once in the top 1000, but has since dropped (it really took a hit when Amazon changed the ranking rules) so that I'm about leave the top 10,000.

I've considered staring to review here instead. Amazon reviewers have mostly gone to products because they are getting so much free stuff.

Has anyone here gone back to Amazon and cut and pasted old reviews and brought them here?

Should I just start reviewing here and not worry about the ranking on Amazon...

Questions...

Thoughts?

Andrew Armacost | 2 comments ***Bizarro Book Give Away (5 signed copies)***

Goodreads is facilitating a book give-away for THE BOHEMIAN GUIDE TO MONOGAMY (Bizarro Pulp Press, Nov 2015), a winsomely strange collection of short fiction that that explores the pain and pleasure of love and commitment, of family and monogamy. When holding the book horizontally, it will literally make love to your fingertips.

It's sort of a left-handed endorsement of conventional family life as well as an outlandish farewell to young adulthood, to that brief period of nearly unlimited freedom. The various stories feature a motley cast of characters including a corrupted Superman, a murderous midget, a talking sperm cell, and a very pissed-off Samuel Jackson (Pulp Fiction era, of course).

WARNING: this book contains strong language, strong writing, and lots of adult content (although all of the sex scenes have been certified as carbon neutral).

“Insightful, sagacious and deadpan to boot, Armacost has all the makings of a first rate satirist. This is a book to place on a pedestal and worship with irrational loyalty. More than just the keen observation of a highly imaginative writer, 'The Bohemian Guide to Monogamy' has an authenticity that plumbs the surreal, distracted nature of the male psyche in a way you won't come across too often. Highly recommended."
- Chris Kelso, author of The Black Dog Eats the City

This offer ends on 07 December 2015. Here’s the link to register for one of five signed copies (feel free to share):

Jess Mountifield | 3 comments Hi everyone,

I'm new to the group and have been an author for several years now although I've been a reader for as long as I can remember. I fell head over heels in love with books when I was a very young kid and my tv went kaboom after being hit by lightning. My mum couldn't afford to replace it and my uncle took me to get a library card in consolation. Several years later we'd not bothered to replace it and I still prefer books.

I've also almost managed to read 100 books so far this year for the first year ever. Looking forward to finding good books here and meeting other authors and readers.

Bradford Wheler | 1 comments Hello,
I’m Bradford G. Wheler or just Brad but I find if you don’t use the exact name Goodreads often can’t find you.

My 9th book MONGOLIA AND THE GOLDEN EAGLE An Archaeological Mystery Thriller publishes on 2/1/16.

In addition to my novels I’ve published a series of themed art quotation books. The latest is LOVE SAYINGS wit & wisdom of romance, courtship, & marriage. It feature artwork by 48 artists from 14 countries.

For bloggers and reviews I’m happy to provide free ebooks, do Q&A, interviews or set up special book giveaways (in addition to the giveaway currently on Goodreads) for these two books.

Here is a little more info on these two books.

Thank you, Brad

MONGOLIA AND THE GOLDEN EAGLE An Archaeological Mystery Thriller

Why is Cornell archaeology professor Robert Johnson, a pre-Columbian scholar, selected to head up a multimillion-dollar project in Mongolia? Why is this so important to high-tech billionaire Walter Falone? Why is he using consultants from Israel Aerospace Industries for his government contract in Mongolia?

For Johnson and his colleague, brilliant and beautiful assistant professor Abbey Summers, it becomes the adventure of a lifetime in MONGOLIA AND THE GOLDEN EAGLE, a new mystery thriller from author Bradford G. Wheler.

Cyber security threats, high-tech spying, and Chinese agents mix in this ingenious and thrilling plot of full of twists and turns. Somewhere in spectacular snowcapped Altai Mountains of western Mongolia there is a mysterious object that people are willing to kill for.

Readers will meet fascinating characters they’ll never forget: a high-tech billionaire, a quick-witted professor, his beautiful young assistant, a former sumo wrestler, a full-blooded Navajo Indian, and the people of Mongolia.

This assiduously researched, fast-paced novel brings archaeology and cyber espionage to life against the backdrop of the wild and rugged landscape of Mongolia, the land of Genghis Khan.

Along with riveting action, MONGOLIA AND THE GOLDEN EAGLE contains 27 illustrations and photos. Wheler draws on his own expertise in engineering, technology, and business to help readers feel that they are living the adventure.

LOVE SAYINGS: wit & wisdom of romance, courtship, and marriage.

This art-themed quotation book covers topics including Love Through the Ages, Women, Men, Dating, Sex, Children, and more. This collaborative publication has two goals in mind: first, to honor and highlight the power and humor of love through text and artwork, and second, to showcase the talents of new and emerging artists.
