I know it's only the beginning of November but I know that we have all read quite a lot of books so I'm interested in seeing what you consider the best book that you've read this year. It does not have to be a book that was published in 2015.
I am not even finished with it yet but so far Welcome to Night Vale is my favorite read! I am huge huge fan of the podcast and this book is amazingly well written and follows the awesome weirdness of the show perfectly. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the podcast and I honestly think people who are not familiar with the podcast and enjoy a good strange read will enjoy this book as well. I will say that The Girl on the Train and Jurassic Park were close runners up!
Please tell us what your favorite read this year has been! I'd love to know so that I can check out some new books!! Thanks!

Kandice The Girl on the Train(with the exception of the ending), The Martian and The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating were in my top three I htink. Not counting re-reads, that is. ;)

Oooh I forgot about The Martian I read so many books this year it was hard to choose! I have never heard of The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating but it sounds marvelous! I will most definitely be looking into it!

Jenny (mentha) | 333 comments The Martian, Red Country and The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August were the only two 5 star reads this year. Though The Long Walk was really good too.

Maybe I'll pick up The Sound Of a Wild Snail Eating. You guys are pretty decent recommenders :)

I remember talking to you about The Long Walk! I definitely need to read it again. I it's definitely one of my all time favorite Stephen King books. The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August sounds super good! I will definitely be looking into it haha

Kandice here's my review for Snail: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... It was simply beautiful.

The Long Walk will always be one of my favorite books, King/Bachman or otherwise.

Drile | 1 comments Absolutely 'Behind the Scenes at the Museum' by Kate Atkinson! I found out about it online, and I knew I'd love it! Or, at least, like it. It's about this girl and her family and the history of her family, and it's (in my opinion)n absolutely wonderful!

It's not meant to be, but in the course of the narrative you learn so, so much about snails. They are fascinating.

Abigail My favorite non fiction up to this point had to be Columbine

I also really enjoyed The Dark is Rising

and my third would be

Drawing Down The Moon

I read quite a few good ones this year, was hard to narrow it down.

Those sounds like awesome books! I've been wanting to read Columbine for a while now. Obviously you thought it was good, but what did you like most about it exactly if you don't mind me asking

message 13: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Well, the author did reporting on whwt happened from the beginning. A lot of the book focuses on trying to dispel some of the myths created by news sources when the story broke/was developing. One of the more interesting things to me was how Columbine changed the way law enforcement responds to active shooter situations. I also thought the whole Cassie Bernall ("the girl who said yes") thing was interesting. Basically, I found points throughout the whole book interesting lol. It was just an awesome book imo.

Well that's good to know! I was pretty young when all of that happened but I remember being very interested in it and I read this great article in this random GQ magazine that I had just randomly picked up in some waiting room. I think I was only like 14 or 15 when I read it but I remember thinking I would like to know a lot more about it. Now there's a book! It's such a horribly sad event but it had such a ripple effect on the country that I find it extremely fascinating.
