We are starting a buddy read for Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4) by Marissa Meyer ! Everyone is welcome to join!

There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!

Ditto, cant read it now, but will soon.

Dreamer (dreamerj) I've been trying to read about 100 pages per day, but so far only around 160 pages in. Fantastic so far!

HAHAHA! Necromancy? I like it!

Katelyn Broad (katelynb) I'm in! I'm about 60 pages in so far and loving it.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments *bump*
So I'm 142 pages in and I like it a lot.
There's some plot points I don't quite remember still, and I've had to reimagine some characters completely because I forgot how I envisioned them a year ago. But their personalities are the same and that's helped to job my memory a bit.
I also remembered that Prince Kai : A+++++++++++.

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments I'm also reading it right now! I think I'm about 600 pages in so I'm getting towards the end, and AAHH IT'S SO INTENSE. I was afraid the lengthiness wouldn't be necessary, but despite the size of the book I feel like it hasn't slowed down for a second. I'm really loving it!

Yeah, that's what I heard. Apparently it doesn't feel like 800 pages. I'm having no trouble so far too.

Tia Jenkins (tia_jenkins) | 207 comments I started the book a couple months ago and had to put it down about halfway in...it kind of slowed down for me a bit, plus I didn't have the time to really read much

Aliza (alizaf) | 111 comments I read the book about a month ago and it was a really great ending to the series.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Page 301.
Really enjoying this so far. Jacin especially is a terrific, compelling character. Excited to continue later tonight.

I thought it felt a little long for the first 40% or so, but at that point, it completely took off and the story just flew by!! I was really happy with how the series ended!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments page 382.
The things I want to do to Levana right now....

Ugh, tell me about it! And she just gets worse and worse, lol. :P

Ashley Marie agh I just realized I never commented when I read this /headdesk

Levana is one of the most horrific villains in YA nowadays

That was my opinion as well. Slow at first with a lot of relationship stuff that felt a little bit repetitive, but then at 42% it took off and never slowed down :)

Glad everyone is liking ittttttt!!!

I was getting so mad at Levana in this book!!! It felt like Cinder and the crew were never going to catch a break.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments page 532.
I didn't read much today, but I just thought I'd note how well Meyer incorporates the original fairy tale storylines into her books.
The allusions are subtle and placed sporadically throughout the books, almost as a reminder that these fairy tales were the inspiration behind the series.
It's nice to be able to lose yourself in her new story, and then smile when you notice the little homages to the true fairy tales.

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments @Heidi - Right? She's so awful!

@Daniel - I love that, too. She comes up with such creative ways to incorporate the original fairytales. :)

I finished the book yesterday and I was blown away! I think it might be my favorite of the series. All the storylines were handled so well, and I was on the edge of my seat for all 800+ pages. (Especially those last few scenes! My heart was literally pounding!) Plus the series has one of my favorite casts of characters ever. Absolutely loved it! :)

Oh stars, I love this book.
600 pages in and it has never once felt slow or boring.

Heidi | 2372 comments Yay Daniel!

Well said! I agree completely :)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Finished at 4 in the morning. Yawn.
4.5 stars, but I rounded down because the ending left me with mixed feelings.
I'll post a review later, but I did think the ending was a tad too happy and didn't grab me emotionally like the rest of the book did.
I still loved reading it and think Winter was a satisfying conclusion to the series.

I actually felt the same way, Daniel! I loved it but it seemed a bit underwhelming. Overall, it WAS a very satisfying ending for the series.

Heidi | 2372 comments SPOILER - I agree with both of you about the overly happy ending - it didn't match the tone of the rest of the book

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Here's my review- sorry, it's a bit long.

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Huh, I liked the ending. :P I did think it was a little unrealistic that (view spoiler) but I don't know, I guess I wanted it to end that way. :D
