Another is "the strain" trilogy by Guillermo Del Toro. The series is complete.
The passage trilogy, by Justin Cronin. Book 3 isn't out yet, however. I think this year or next.
The Harry Hole detective series by Jo Nesbø. There are 10 books in the series and they have all been released in the USA, finally. When I read it, I had to wait ages for the translations.

Outlander. There are seven in the series.
If you want to go to sea, check out Patrick O'Brian's Maturin/Aubrey series starting with Master and Commander. There are 21 of them. I got to #8 before I needed to take a break.
I have also enjoyed The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott. The first one is The Alchemyst. There are six. I have been listening to them in audio and am currently waiting for the last one. It is a little YA, but very interesting characters.

I agree with Thera about the Dan Brown books. I love Robert Langdon. Inferno was the latest.
I read The Passage but got stuck in The Twelve after waiting so long for it to come out. I need to get back to it before the next one is due out, but I think I have time.
I have the Harry Hole #1 on my desk at home but have not started that series yet. Everyone I talk to likes them though.
