Ricky (spider-fan) hugs!

I feel sad a lot of the time, usually for no reason.

Last week, I was stuck indoors almost the whole time, until Friday when I got a temporary leave of absence. My depression went away - until Saturday when I was taken to church. That place makes me hate myself all over again.

So far, I've never resorted to self-harm, but I'm sure that's gonna change eventually if I don't get out of my lockstep existence soon.

My problem is that I have few, if any, real friends or confidants in the real world.

Um, Ally, is it okay that I started this sub-thread? Did you mean to close off the "what goes here" thread?

Ericka (erickakay) the butterfly project is a great way to prevent self harm :) I did it for awareness

Ricky (spider-fan) I joined in there a couple weeks ago. Named the butterfly after my crush.

Ricky (spider-fan) Thanks. :) Unfortunately, the butterfly faded very quickly. I take it that's a bad sign. Maybe I should stop pursuing the girl. But she makes me feel so happy...

Ericka (erickakay) Oh. well if she makes you happy let her know :) any girl would like to hear that or most girls i believe :)

yeah you are supposed to make your own thread, I feel it helps more because then people actually can find the main issue

ok so I know this is said a lot but, just spend some time thinking about the good things in life. yeah life gets hard and I know that firsthand, but just think about that girl you like or maybe something small like how you get to eat your favorite food for dinner. its the little things that make life great. think of life like a book, one bad chapter doesn't mean the story is over.

Michaela Osiecki (onth3cusp) Hey Ricky, can I ask? How long have these feelings of isolation and depression been going on? If this is something that has persisted for a while now, I would suggest maybe talking to a counselor or doctor about a depression diagnosis - it can definitely help.

If you feel better getting out of the house and doing stuff, I think that's certainly something to focus on. I don't know much about your town or area, but if there are local hangouts for people your age, definitely hit up some of those and try to talk to people. You probably won't make any best friends right away, but sometimes just getting a chance to socialize properly can lift one's spirits.
