The question is: why?

Adrie Havermans I just finished Lightning and I really enjoyed it. Not the greatest story I've ever read, but certainly worth it. There's only one thing that keeps bothering me and that is the reason why the Germans want Laura and Chris dead. Why are they chasing her? Why is she a danger to the 3rd Reich? Did I miss the explanation somewhere in the book? Can someone help me out with this riddle?

i think that they want to hurt stefan by hurting laura and chris, beacuse stefan betrayed them and stefan cares about laura so much.
anyway,i found the time travel aspect in this book really difficult and mind-challenging,wasn't it?

I don't know... I'm still not convinced I'm afraid.
The time travel aspect was indeed quite challenging sometimes. Maybe I should re-read the book sometime with the plot in mind. Maybe that will help solve some questions :-).

Marc Jones Been a while since I read this but didnt stefan travel to an alt timeline where Laura is quadriplegic. In the reality she writes beautiful poetry which causes him to have a change of heart and betray the nazis and take up the new mission of making lauras life right starting with saving her from her own botched delivery.
The nazis are targeting laura to get at Stefan by forcing him to arrive at a point in time when they can intercept and kill him.
Hope that helps

Mei Lightning is one of my favorit Koontz books. I agree with Marc!

Have you read Strangers? It's excellent too! :D

Marc Jones Strangers was pretty good, Phantoms is a great guilty pleasure...its very much "da bomb"

Mei Phantoms is pretty good too! :)
All his "older" book are pretty good. I liked The Key to Midnight too!
I don't like his newest book... Too convoluted... :(

NoNameLoves2Read IMO opinion there are 2 reasons

1. What Abdessalam said above, basically they wanted hurt them to punish Stefan.

2. So nobody would be left alive to know about their evil plans or throw a wrench in their evil plans.

I read this last week and really liked it. My first Kootz book ever! I laughed a lot at the end when Kootz added his few page rant about his annoying publisher always wanting a dog in all of his books. Seriously, that was hilarious.
