Krystina Clarke | 2 comments The Divergent Trilogy. After I finished Allegiant I was so upset that it was all over and wanted another book. Having said that it was a beautiful ending.

Barbm1020 | 57 comments The Poisonwood Bible The Poisonwood Bible is a book I can't get over. It made me so mad that so much suffering could be caused by a man's stubbornness and insistence on being right all the time even in the face of daily proof that he was wrong. It haunts me, probably because I know that there really are people like that. Another one is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close The story is so touching and the point of view character is so well-drawn that he seems like a real person. I don't even want to see the movie, and I know it has many fans. The book is that good.

Toyah (rockabillybibiliophile) | 6 comments To Kill a Mockingbird has always stayed with me. Absolutely incredible book, devastating but love the ending. The same with The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

Also Paulo Coelho - The Alchemist is a fantastic book, unputdownable and really gave me food for thought.

I was really impacted and inspired by Leslie Feinberg's Stone Butch Blues. Again, quite devastating in parts but such an incredible read.

Diana Gotsch | 18 comments The book Still Alice is one that keeps coming back to me. As someone past 60 it was easy to put myself in her place. Find myself thinking of it when I can't find my car keys or the car in the mall parking lot.

As a woman also over 60, I feel the same way as you did. Unfortunately I watched a very young woman - not even 45 fall victim to Alzheimer and just last week took out a dear friend who has dementia. What I couldn't get over last week with my friend was that she remembered my birthday and where an old friend lived but kept asking for her pocketbook.

I found the ending of this book so poignant when she told her husband she was sorry she did this to him.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Another book I loved was Room although I listened to this book. The reader has the most amazing voice as the young by and I kept looking to make sure a 5 years old wasn't the narrator then.

Since you enjoyed Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, you might also enjoy reading The Usual Rules by Joyce Maynard.

Sophie | 1 comments A Thousand Splendid Suns is a book I thought about for weeks afterwards. An incredibly moving story about two women set in Afghanistan. This was a real eye opener & provoked a whole range of emotions.

Barbara (goodreadscombarb-ken) | 9 comments Sophie's Choice haunts me to this day. Can you imagine?

Marjorie Morningstar because at 14 I knew I would be her, and I cried.

1984 because I was afraid I would behave as Smith did at the end. Human or coward?
