Dawn, I htink the best way to update the post is to include the title and author of the book next to the category and the date that you finished reading the book. Something like this:

- Victorian England: The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer (Dec 31, 2015)

By the way, the challenge started on January 1st 2016 so if you read this book before that date, it cannot count toward the challenge. Sorry.

Sorry, I will make the changes. I started the book on 01/01/16 and finished it on 01/07/16. I thought copying the date of my original listing was how I linked the two posts to each other. This is my first time trying to post things so I am still learning. Thank you for your help.

Finished my first book in the challenge; Funeral in Blue set in Victorian England (with a quick trip to Vienna). I love this series and this one reintroduced Hester's brother and sister-in-law, not seen since the first book(s). And it ended with promises of Monk investigating his past. The plot and atmosphere are excellent and I never guessed the ending.

So glad to see "Death at the Fair" on your list for the Gilded Age. You and others who enjoy that time period may be interested in the other books in the series, all set in 1890s Chicago: Death at Hull House, Death at Pulllman, Death at Woods Hole, and Death at Chinatown. The author is currently working on the sixth book in the series "Death at the Paris Exposition" set in 1900. That one will hopefully come out this summer.

If you are interested in historical mysteries set in 19th century Chicago you might also enjoy: Honor Above All, Shall We Not Revenge, and For You Were Strangers

Finished Jane Steele. So much fun! I'm not a huge fan of gothic novels, but this was a ton of fun, lots of twists and turns, and a great story besides. I'm working on a review over at my blog and it should be up today or tomorrow.

I just completed Secrets of Sloane House by Shelley Gray. This is a great gilded age mystery that takes place at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

I completed Of Dooms and Death by Dennis Hamley. This is a Medieval England book and I enjoyed it. It is the first book in a series so I can look forward to more time with Joslin de Lay!

Finished my first book for the challenge - Death Comes to the Village (Jan 26). The mystery is a bit predictable but the characterization is excellent. Lloyd has successfully captured the social and personal nuances of the time.

I'm glad you liked that one, Lauren. It was a pleasant surprise for me as well. I agree with you about the mystery but I just really liked both the male and female leads.
