Sarah Churchill (sarahchurchill) | 63 comments Let's keep the last few chapters here so that we can talk about it all without spoiling the others!

Beth (BethTinkerbellBlog) | 2 comments Just finished the book, and I feel disappointed by the ending. For me it didn't make sense to end it there. Does anyone else think this?

Charlotte Jones (ramblingsofanelfpire) | 3 comments Beth wrote: "Just finished the book, and I feel disappointed by the ending. For me it didn't make sense to end it there. Does anyone else think this?"

The ending was a little odd and the 'twist' with Harper was a little predictable to me...

Pauline | 2 comments Are you kidding me? I loved it. I literally just finished reading the book as well and to be honest I think that it makes sense to end it there because they're half way through the race you know? Aaand there was the big revelation of what this series is actually about: Destroying the Brimstone Bleed. (Plus her mom+the blue/green feather's meaning is also spelled out for us). Basically, I don't think I quite understand why you guys don't like the ending? haha

Oh, and Harper's whole daughter situation totally tripped me and I love it when a book does that - keeps things real interesting!

Ellen (nellemarg) | 5 comments I finished it! Haha and this book was millions more better after the first part! I'm not gonna write much here, but did anyone get a huge shock about Caroline and her pandora?! It was very gruesome wasn't it? Also I agree with Pauline the ending was in a good place I thought! My brain needs to rest after the action-packed third part! Also did anyone like Harper more after what she did?

Kate (thebookgram) | 4 comments Just finished! Overall, I really enjoyed this book! The ending was fine to me, I'm so excited as to where the next book will take us! Because it's still in the middle of the Brimestone Bleed! Which is strange for a book to end without the actual plot of the book ending, if that makes sense! Haha

What did everyone rate it? I gave it 4 stars :)

Charlotte Jones (ramblingsofanelfpire) | 3 comments I still gave it 4 stars. I really enjoyed it and I really liked aspects of it but I have to say that there were predictable moments.
I still enjoyed it overall though and I'm looking forward to the sequel. I can just see that there are things that I think need developing in the next book =)

Sarah Churchill (sarahchurchill) | 63 comments Is it bad that I would totally let that guy sink into the quicksand?

Completely agree with you =P

Sarah Churchill (sarahchurchill) | 63 comments Ok, so I have also finished! I'm good with where it ended - it's both wrapped stuff up and left on sort of a cliffhanger. I like Guy's revealed motivation, and Harper's 'I'll be back' promise. Although I did guess the Dink thing a few chapters before it happened, I didn't think it was predictable (I just over analysed and figured it out!), and in the back of my head I was waiting for Ransom to pop back up at the right moment, but he was gone just long enough to almost forget about him and I liked that.

Two things though:
1. Harper should have given her cure to Ransom, not Caroline. I don't think she did anything to deserve it and Ransom's lost enough already.
2. Anyone else read 'Ransom Riggs' each time he was mentioned?

I guess I don't like the fact that it isn't all completely wrapped up, I expected it to end when the race was over, and we had a winner. I imagine Guy's motivation to be continued after the race is over.

I agree with you that Harper should have given her cure to Ransom. It's hard enough for him that he's lost one sibling, he could have had that extra hope.

I am super glad that Harper is coming back, I like her a lot. She could quite possibly be my favourite character in the next book. I just don't like Tella all that much, I wish we weren't in her head.

I found it weird that Caroline and Dink had 'lost' their Pandora's at the beginning of the race, if you look at everyone else and their Pandora's they never go too far away and always come back. I did begin to have suspicions about Dink but didn't quite realise what was going to happen.

I definitely didn't connect with Tella that much. On the one hand I liked that she was flawed and not suddenly a strong warrior (because that would have made me cringe), but there could have been a little more development. And not cutting her hair off straight away, that just didn't sit well with me. But she's definitely grown up a bit, so I guess there's room for a lot of development (and hopefully more independence) in book 2.

I think I feel more... I don't know, 'sucked in' to the series having stopped mid-way through the race. Especially as there was a fair bit of action in the last part of the book. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that book 2 will be the second part of the race and then (having finished in the top 5) they'll work in the organisation for book 3. I have NO idea how many books there'll be in this series mind you, goodreads just has 2 listed (with a whole year til the next one!)

message 13: by Rita (new) - rated it 3 stars

Rita I just finish it I really liked where it stopped warped up a bit of the story but we still have half of the race so it's a good cliffhanger. I also think that the second book is going to be the second half of the race and the rest is taking down the organisation.

I hope to see more character development in book 2 and I got really happy when Tella learned how to communicate with Madox because I think she could have used so much more his help and not treat him like he is week and needs protection he is the most useful Pandora but she didn't even tried to communicate with him.

Looking forward to book 2 I want to see who wins the race

Kate (thebookgram) | 4 comments I agree with you Sarah!
The cure should've been given to Ransom, and yes, I thought of Ransom Riggs everytime! Hahaha

Charlotte | 4 comments just finished & I quite like the ending its a great cliffhanger. Cant beleive we have to wait for so long till the next one! Tella has grown on me alot as she irritated me at first but she can still be annoying im just not connecting well with her.
Tbe whole caroline and her pandora thing freaked me out, I didnt see it coming at all!
I love harper was so sad that she was doing it for her daughter I hope she does come back like she said.
Guy revealing more of the truth about the brimstone bleed & why he is really there has really made me excited to see if they pull it off I cant wait. So glad maddox is ok I love him lol

Shelly (collyofthewobbles) | 16 comments I just finished it. Did anyone else think, at the point that Harper went round the rocks and Tella went toget the bird. Did anyone else think Harper was just going to kill Maddox to get into base camp?
I really love maddox, i want a pet like him. But i find Guy a bit anoying, maybe its cause he's only just warming up and showing whats going on.
It was pretty flipping grusome at parts, but other than that i really enjoyed this book and i'm looking forward to reading the next one now. I dont know if its out yet but i hope it is soon.

Daisy (AThousandLivesOfDaisy) (daisydinosaur_) | 18 comments Shelly, I thought at first for sure that Harper was going to kill Maddox, I was quite nervous!

I totally thought she was going to off Maddox to get into camp!

Shelly, book 2 is scheduled for Feb 2015 :/

Alexandra Pattinson (alexandra1912) | 1 comments Gosh I just finished it and loved it! Tella is far from my favourite female protagonist but the story was great. The whole element of the Pandoras is such a lovely addition and I got emotionally attached to pretty much all of them!

Plenty of twists and turns that made me verbally shout "wow didn't see that coming!". I gave it 5 stars as it totally grabbed my attention -I laughed, cried and gasped my way through it!

Kinda thought the ending was similar to the ending of Catching Fire but I really hope the conclusion to this series is better than The Hunger Games conclusion!

So sad that we have to wait a year for 2nd one :(

So happy that it wasn't just in my head. I was really pleased she didn't so that it was a kinda non twist, twist. Kept me on my toes.
Roll on 2015, can't wait for it.

OMG!! Yes!! Why would the cure not go to Ransom?? Why should Caroline build a relationship with a mother who doesn't care? It's kind of like Victoria Scott forgot about Ransom's sister, haha!

It's too long to wait!! I need to know what happens next!! AND SAME!! I thought she was suggesting that she kill Madox and hinting that Tella should kill her pandora...

I really liked the ending...but it's too long until the next book :( I'll definitely be reading the sequel though! I'm really loving Guy :) I feel like the romance built at an excellent speed!

I'm so glad she didn't fancy him straight away (and almost didn't like him at all!) it made it so much more believable.

I definitely agree with you, I liked it more that she didn't like him at first.
