That is pretty ambitious, especially since most of the class is unfamiliar with the books and it sounds like you are not doing much of an introduction before you start quizzing them, etc.
Maybe a chart for each series, with main characters and some info on the setting(s) and the way magic works in each. Of course, in case you pique their interest, you don't want to include too many spoilers.
Or you may want to focus just on the first book in each, as an easier, more digestible way to introduce them to the authors and the series.
Is it likely they have seen the Harry Potter movies or ASoIaF HBO series?
I would look online for some series summaries and/or introductions and the kinds of charts I mentioned. I know there is one somewhere for Discworld--not sure about the others.
Good luck!

I will do some introduction, of course, it's just that I can't do too much of it, because if I simply sit there and talk for forty minutes, it's going to be extremely boring and after 10 minutes no one will be listening.
I know for sure that one of my classmates has read all the Harry Potter books and a few - maybe 4 or 5 maximum, inculding myself - have watched the movies. I also know of 4-5 of my classmates who are watching "A Game of Thrones", which is why they wanted me to talk about ASoIaF so much (they probably wouldn't have chosen it, if I hadn't mentioned the show is based on the books).
I have a reading guide printed for the Discworld series, maybe this is the one you're talking about? I'll definitely be using that one. I also have a relatively large map of Westeros, which I can bring and even use in the games, now that I think about it. I also have the book/encyclopedia "The World of Fire and Ice", so I could maybe use that for easy references on the major houses. And a friend suggested playing a recording of "You know nothing, Jon Snow." every time someone gets an answer wrong, which would be fun.

Best of luck with the project. Let us know how it goes.

I need your help. Since I'm probably the only one in my class who reads fantasy, I've been asked by my English teacher to give a presentation about three fantasy books/series of my choice. ASoIaF was chosen democratically by my classmates and I added Harry Potter and the Discworld series. I really want to make this as interesting and interactive as possible. So far I've come up with the idea of splitting the class into four 'houses' - Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, with the help of a 'sorting hat', of course, and then we'll play short games and quizzes throughout the presentation where they can win points for their 'houses' and then the team with the most points will get the house cup (which will be full of candy :D). After each question/game, I will give explanations and further information about the correct answer.
The problem is that most of my classmates are unfamiliar with the series, especially the Discworld series, so I'm not really sure what kinds of questions to ask or what games we can play. Or how to explain the plot and characters quickly but also in a way they'll be easy to digest. I also wanted to read parts of the series, so that they can get a grasp of the writers' styles, but I'm not sure exactly what to read. The prologue to 'The Colour of Magic' is perfect for the Discworld series, but the language is too complicated and the first chapters from ASoIaF and Harry Potter are far too long. So... any ideas? Anything would help, really.
PS. Thanks in advance and sorry if this is not the right place for this kind of question, I'm sort of desperate.
