I've decided to make a personal challenge in 2016- I'm going to the library several times a month, choosing books to read, by browsing the shelves! These books will NOT be on my TBR list, and they will NOT be used in my Around the Year in 52 Books challenge.

I'm going to try and pick books that I've never heard of before, haven't read reviews of etc etc. I'm also going to try really hard to step out of my comfort zone for this-this means genres I don't normally read, new to me authors, and bigger books (which I normally avoid like the plague lol).
______________________________________________________________

My 2016 Reading Goals:
-complete the group's 52 book challenge
-read 52+ additional books, that I find at the library
-read the handful of books on my TBR list that are 2016 releases:

Magic Binds (2016 release date/no month yet)
Red Queen: The Chronicles of Alice (July release date)
Lost Among the Living (April release date)
Lost and Gone Forever (May release date)
Josh Malerman Untitled Book 2 (May release date)
The Burning World (August release date)

=125+ books in 2016!

Thanks! I spent a ridiculous amount of time working on this today (many starts/deletes/restarts lol), but I really like how I have everything set up now. I'm a big mood reader, and have a tendency to grab 'fluff' over substance. In 2016 I'm going to try really hard to be intentional in my reading, stick to my weekly plan and go a bit 'deeper' in my reading. There will still be fluff once in a while, but I'm hoping that between the group challenge, and then my library trips, I'll find some gems that are really great!

Thanks, I can't believe how excited I am to go to the library this morning to pick out my first choice. I already told my kids we may be there a while lol!

Sooooo I ran into my first obstacle, with my personal library challenge-I went this morning to make my first choice, and before I knew it I had 5 books in my basket :p I grudgingly put 3 back on the shelf, but I left with 2 books instead of 1- The Hurricane (The Hurricane, #1) by R.J. Prescott and The Bone Hunters (Lexy Vaughan & Steven Macaulay #2) by Robert J. Mrazek . Sooooo I think that my rule of one book per week, for my library challenge, is going to the wayside lol!

And then I got my hold of The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway , for my first 52 book challenge task. I'm all set for the first week in January now!

eta: yeah, totally modified my library challenge to include more than one pick a week lol :p It's all in fun, so all is good!

Aglaea | 369 comments Haha, I thought the library challenge was a great one, and the chuckled when reading your latest update. I fear I wouldn't be able to restrain myself either, but perhaps it might work to go once monthly, then grab the bigger number? Will mull it over. Good luck with your challenges!
