Ruth | 682 comments The writing is lyrical. The author does a good job of portraying his childhood before the Khmer Rouge as idyllic and his father as a saint. His father enforces a kind but unregulated justice as a police officer. This made me wonder how enduring a tragedy might changes or enhance one's memories of the past.
