Daisy | 1399 comments Hi everyone, in this discussion we thought it would be good if we discussed what the MBTW books would be like if they were made into a series of movies (or TV series).
This is purely for fun because there has been no official plans for a movie or TV series, so just use your imagination!
In this discussion we could . . .

Talk about if you think MBTW would be good as a movie or TV series and if it should be one movie per book or three episodes per book etc.

Recommend actors/actresses we think could be good playing particular characters and places where Pine Wood or other places mentioned in the books (like where the werewolf gathering takes place) could be set.

Discuss whether it will/should ever become a movie or TV series, and much more!

Please remember that spoilers ARE allowed here, so if you haven't finished the whole series (as it is so far), you might want to be cautious. Thanks and have fun!

Sophie | 1254 comments The place where District 12 was set could be kind of cool for the werewolf gathering. It was this old abandoned village. Although thinking about it I don't imagine buildings there. It is a forest Isn't it?

Daisy | 1399 comments Yeah, well I just picture it as a forest clearing really. Interesting thought though . . .

Daisy | 1399 comments I've been trying to come up with some actors and actresses who could hypothetically play these characters forEVER and I haven't been able to think of anyone. But today I decided to look up a list of teen actors and I've actually managed to find a few possibilities:

For Justin I think Cameron Boyce is honestly perfect. He could probably play both twins as well, he seems like he could pull off werewolf-ness. Something about his jaw makes me think of hidden wolf fangs... there's a sentence I never thought I'd say! If not Abraham Attah or Nick Robinson kinda have that werewolf look about them too... is saying that wrong? :D

Moving on, Baillee Madison if she dyed her hair red I think could make a good Debi. She just looks like a really friendly, bubbly person! Same goes for Skai Jackson, though she doesn't really fit the book's description, I can totally see her in that sweet cheerleader role.

Veronika Bonell with a nerdy style could definitely pull off Riley I think. Other possibilities could be Jade Pettyjohn or Brighton Sharbino.

I feels really mean to cast anyone as Mackenzie but what do you guys think of Olivia Rodrigo? For some reason I think she could pull it off. I'm really getting into this looking for actors thing!!

Sophie | 1254 comments I find it strange to look at actors and actresses to play the characters but I can understand all of your choices. I can totally imagine Bailee Madison as Debi and the rest are great too! Do werewolves even have fangs? I thought that was just vampires.

Over in the If it was a movie thread (MSTV edition) Sage asked some interesting questions I thought would be good to discuss here as well...

1. Who would you want to play the characters?
2. TV or movie?
3. What scene would you most look forward to?
4. Should it be silly, serious, or both?
5. What kind of sound track?
6. Should Sienna Mercer help work on the script?
And Daisy added, 7. What settings from the books would you be excited to see on screen?

Because there are less books in MBTW than MSTV I reckon it could work better as a film or couple of films. The school setting with a number of scenes in other locations and merging the plots from different books together could work really well. The werewolves (if done by a good costume and make-up team) would transfer well to film and MBTW has a musical element with Daniel which again would be great in a film. I can actually see an adaptation of MBTW working much better than one of MSTV.

The werewolf gatherings, Daniel singing Moonlight Girl to Debi and trick or treating with the Beasts would all make good scenes in the film. I think it would be a mixture of serious and silly but mostly fun and heart-warming (just like the books!). A friendship, coming of age story including the werewolf element. Awesome!

The soundtrack would have to be rock because that's what Daniel and In Sheep's Clothing love. Can you not just imagine AC/DC's Back in Black playing while the beginning credits roll showing the school and the corridors with all the students walking around, it shows Daniel practicing with the band and then Justin with the Beasts practicing football. Debi walking up to the school gates and Riley with loads of folders. I can totally see it!!

Daisy | 1399 comments Yeah, I'm pretty sure they do have fangs; Daniel's always talking about them starting to grow when he gets nervous.

I think I agree with you MBTW might work better as a film because there just aren't as many storylines to explore as MSTV. I can imagine it translating into a cool high school movie focusing around the sports and music storylines, with of course the unique werewolf element, like you say.

Scenes I'd look forward to might be the homecoming dance, the werewolf gatherings, the dance class, and when Riley auditioned for Daniel's band - I bet Daniel, Otto and Nathan's expressions would be priceless when she smashes it!

Oh my gosh your description of the opening scene makes it so easy for me to picture! Back in Black would be perfect. You should direct this film!

Sophie | 1254 comments Oh yes I'd forgotten that.

It would be so good! All those scenes you mentioned would be brilliant.

Aw thanks. Maybe one day, haha!

Daisy | 1399 comments This is kind of random but I just found another actress who might work: don't you think Mackenzie Foy would be completely perfect for Debi? Obviously she'd probably have to dye her hair but her smile and bright eyes are honestly identical to how I picture Debi in the book! Just thought I'd put that out there. ;)
