Bookish B (shannyb) | 31 comments Yearly challenge question.
40-42 the trilogy
Do they HAVE to be from the SAME trilogy? I have a few works in progress that I am anxiously waiting on 2 or 3.

I'm making my plan!!!

message 3: by valeria (new)

valeria | 51 comments 9. A book at the bottom of your “to-read” pile? but in my pile is adult so i have to look the next one but its in place 29 thats ok?

message 4: by Claudia (new)

Claudia | 18 comments I have a question about the first point:
1. A book published this year
I'm from Italy: the book has to be published this year in US or in Italy? Because some books that have been published in US years ago, will be published in Italy this year.

Interesting question. I didn't think of that. It doesn't state either way so you can choose. It is often easier to have book 1, book 2 and book 3 from the same trilogy. But if you have book 1 from 1 trilogy, book 2 from another trilogy and book 3 from another trilogy that will work too :) just make sure they are trilogies.

Yes just find the next New Adult book closest to the bottom of your to-read list

As long as it is listed 2016 on goodreads - that will be easier for me to see.

I purposely didn't read Never Never Part 2 because I really didn't want to have to wait for Part 3. Self control!

As New Adult is a new genre some of these categories will be hard to fit an NA book to them. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover will be a movie. But some people may have already read it. Leave this category for a while and we will see whether any member have some good ideas, if not we can tweak the rules (include Upper YA) for these 2 categories.

Maybe even Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Brave New World by Aldous Huxley Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth
Some are YA but on the later stage of YA (17 years old) this should help both the movie and future books.

Victoria | 5 comments Anyone in this group can participate in the yearly challenge correct ?

message 13: by Maureen (new)

Maureen (mleeper5) | 65 comments Are we allowed to use the books we have from our monthly challenges as well as the yearly challenge? And thank you Dee for choosing my book for #51. :)

message 14: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Yes please participate :)

Yes you can use the same book for both challenges. Just not allowed to use a book twice in the one challenge. Choosing a book for you was not a problem, it is fun looking through other shelves and looking at books I haven't seen and ones to remind me I still have to read others

message 15: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Hi everyone I had a great question and wanted to clarify for the group - What kind of book are we supposed to look for for a book we learned about because of the challenge? The learnt about book is one someone else has posted and thus it is something you didn't know about before you started the challenge.
Books that are more than 10 years old - just needs to be a book published 10 + years ago.

message 16: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Zelkovich | 120 comments Ok a few questions. How do you post the book cover pics next to the yearly challenge line items? I just can't figure this out. Also, are the Outlander books considered NA or too historical? Where do you look to see what's considered NA? I don't read catergory specific but don't want to list something that won't work.

What about While It lasts as a movie in the making. Or even cough, Nicholas Sparks books??

message 18: by Dee (new)

Dee | 851 comments Books must be New Adult so they are the time period between high school and adult. So college age. It is often difficult to know with some books but usually it states new adult in the genre section on the each individual book page. Though sometimes that isn't always a guarantee either. Have a look on the booklists section for ideas. Outlander and most Nicholas Sparks books are classed as adult books.

message 19: by Lauren-marie (new)

Lauren-marie If you like Nicholas Sparks, in The Longest Ride the female main character is still in college so that might work, also its a great book so give it a go anyway :)

I'm struggling with the book with no colour on the cover. Any suggestions?

Here are some I found. I can make it uniform if you want and we all have to choose from the same list. Or would you like to choose your own list?

Lauren-marie Does Graysons Vow by Mia Sheridan count as a book with no colour on the cover because it's only the title that is red?

#32 I was looking at that over the weekend as I had 2 books with coloured writing but black/white backgrounds and I didn't use them. After looking at those who have already done this category I have found many without coloured writing so try one of those instead.
Metamorphosis (Book Boyfriend, #1) by Erin Noelle Trouble by Samantha Towle Making Faces by Amy Harmon Grey (Fifty Shades, #4) by E.L. James Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1) by C.J. Roberts Becoming Calder by Mia Sheridan Finding Eden by Mia Sheridan Tainted (Torn, #3) by K.A. Robinson Zeus (The God Chronicles #1) by Kamery Solomon Beauty from Pain (Beauty, #1) by Georgia Cates series

Female heroine would be a female hero so someone that saves the day - dictionary.com states a female heroine as "a woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities." Does that help?

Yes it can be looked at two ways either save the day heroine as with many paranormal books or overcoming adversity as with many contemporary books.
Killing Sarai (In the Company of Killers, #1) by J.A. Redmerski Ash (Hive Trilogy, #1) by Jaymin Eve Wicked (A Wicked Saga, #1) by Jennifer L. Dee | 851 comments Mercedes wrote: "Could Me Before You (Me Before You, #1) by Jojo Moyes count for the yearly challenge "14. A book that was made into a movie""

I have had a look at everyone else's categories and whether anyone has managed to find many movies from NA books and other than Fifty Shades and Maybe Someday there aren't many and if you are like me I have read both so I am opening #14 to any book that has been made into a movie so it can be adult or young adult. There are heaps of options for both. So if that book is a movie you can use it :)

Lauren-marie Can He Saved Me (He Found Me, #2) by Whitney Barbetti be used as a book with a red cover? It's not bright red but sort of red :)

message 38: by Maureen (new)

Maureen (mleeper5) | 65 comments The March challenge includes "a book with a leprechaun "... I was wondering if I could use a book that the main character gets compared to a leprechaun.

That cover doesn't look that red on my screen. Do you have another book with a red cover you could use or would you like some suggestions?

message 41: by Lauren-marie (new)

Lauren-marie Suggestion for the red and yellow covers would be fab Dee!

message 42: by Micheala (new)

Micheala | 1458 comments Hi sorry to butt in. I was bored and looking around and fell onto this.
Lauren-Marie, I scanned through my NA bookshelf and found the following, plus added comments.
Some of these, Dee, your opinion as head of this challenge is obviously needed since I'm not sure how strict you are with the coloring.
Guys, look around at all the NA books you've read. There's one common theme in almost every cover: BLUE. Wow there are a ton of blue themed NA books. White/pale and black/grey/dark are also popular, so red and yellow I can see why it's hard

RED:
A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas Fab book. One of my favs. First in a series. It's a must read if you haven't.

Moment(s) by Lisa Terry Written by a friend. It's red/pink. Cute read.

Corrupt by Penelope Douglas I have so much I could say about this I just don't have words. If you have yet to read this one, CHOOSE THIS ONE. Has some black but I figure it could count as a red cover (Dee?)

Remembrance (The Mediator, #7) by Meg Cabot This is the 7th in a series so unless you've read the rest you won't want to choose it, but I figured id still mention it. Who knows maybe you have. The series is YA, but she's in college in this one so it kinda flips to NA then.

YELLOW:
Trashed (Stripped, #2) by Jasinda Wilder Second in a series but it's a standalone and its very good. Most of her books are if youve never read any.

Eighteen 18 by J.A. Huss This novel is pretty hot. It's good though

QUESTIONABLE:

Yellow:
Breeze of Life by Kirsty Dallas This is sad and adorable. It's yellow-ish

Red:
Wicked (A Wicked Saga, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout An example of the blue! It's a blue cover but with a large spot of red so...

Be My Hero (Forbidden Men, #3) by Linda Kage Great series of standalones that connect through the characters.

Beautiful Burn (The Maddox Brothers, #4) by Jamie McGuire

This one's interesting actually. Its a mix of red, yellow and orange so I dont know if it counts and what for
Oblivion (Lux, #1.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hope this helps

message 43: by Dee (last edited Mar 18, 2016 02:51AM) (new)

Dee | 851 comments Thanks Micheala, those are great ideas. I would say Wicked would go in the blue cover though, not red.

Some others include:
RED - Attraction (Elements of Chemistry #1; Hypothesis, #1.1) by Penny Reid Me Before You (Me Before You, #1) by Jojo Moyes The Story of Us (Carnage, #1) by Lesley Jones The Story of Me (Carnage, #2) by Lesley Jones Sempre Redemption (Forever, #2) by J.M. Darhower Broken Juliet (Starcrossed, #2) by Leisa Rayven Aflame (Fall Away, #4) by Penelope Douglas Seeing Red (Seeing Red, #1) by Sidney Halston Lick (Stage Dive, #1) by Kylie Scott Heat (Elements of Chemistry #2; Hypothesis, #1.2) by Penny Reid Capture (Elements of Chemistry #3; Hypothesis, #1.3) by Penny Reid Slow Burn (Driven, #5) by K. Bromberg In the Band (Luminescent Juliet, #1) by Jean Haus How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo Crash into You (Pushing the Limits, #3) by Katie McGarry

YELLOW - Watch over Me by Tara Sivec The Ever After of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #4) by Jessica Sorensen Eighteen 18 by J.A. Huss Four Years Later (One Week Girlfriend, #4) by Monica Murphy Make it Right (Bowler University, #2) by Megan Erickson One Song Away by Molli Moran
