Kimberley Debus So... I am preparing to see my denomination's ministerial fellowship committee (on the path to ordination)...which means a lot of required reading, only a few of which are books by POCs.

So while I can't guarantee I can actually read half by POCs, what I can do is devote my fiction to POC, and make sure at least one book for every sermon prep is by a person of color as well.

I'm focusing on mysteries for my fiction, because they are rather escapist and good always wins. On the top of my list: "When Death Comes Stealing" by Valerie Wilson Wesley.

Julia Alberino | 9 comments Kimberley,
Good for you to take on the challenge in a year when you will have so much else going on. And thanks for the recommendation; I too like mysteries as an escape from real life.

Henrietta (H | 3 comments I plan to focus on African and African American authors and alternate between fiction and nonfiction. I belong to a book club but should be able to read 2 POC books per month. At least that's the plan.
