Jade lead Parker to the base of the stairs. "My whole house is made of wood so we'll have to burn the books away from it so I don't end up being homeless."

message 3: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments Parker followed Jade until they reached her house, casually looking for Raven on the way. No sign of her. Like he expected more. He heard Jade's comment and looked at her with a smile. "Are you sure? Have you tried being a hobo? It's actually pretty entertaining. You get used to it. Plus, the whole house burning would look fantastic." He paused for a moment before admitting, "Honestly, this is a pretty nice house. How'd you get something like this? Are you rich or something?"

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade smiled at him. "That was a funny joke." Then she realized he was serious and bust up laughing. "Oh no no no! There's no way I'm rich. To be honest, I kicked the last people out on their heads and stole it." She smiled wickedly and shook her head. "Most were-cats hate me now. And the ones that don't, don't know I exist."

message 5: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments His eyes widened at her confession. Kicking people out!? And she had stopped him from burning a few books in a library? She wasn't so bad after all! He concealed his actual emotions with a serious expression. "Kicking innocent were-cats out of a home? I'm officer Jason Payne, undercover cop of the Haven. You're officially under arrest." He quickly grabbed her wrists, as if he were going to put handcuffs on her. "You have the right to remain silent...."

message 6: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade snickered. "That's cute. And I don't understand why they say "You have the right to remain silent." I mean, yeah. We have the right. People also have the right to jump off a plane. But most people still don't do it. And anyway, it was for their own good that I kicked them out. If they hadn't left it would never stop raining until they left." She grinned evilly.

message 7: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments ((Sorry! I had to eat dinner!))

He kept a plain expression, letting go of her wrists. He wanted to maintain his official attitude. "It's just one of the rights we need to warn people about by law. Making it rain until they left? That's cold. You are one sick criminal." He stepped back a few feet, saying, "Alright, you caught me. I'm not an undercover cop. I'm FBI." He stared her in the eye with an angry expression. He pulled his M1911 pistol out of his coat, aiming it at her head. "Put your hands up!"

((It's okay. :) ))

Jade rolled her eyes. "You're a pretty good actor. Oh, and you saw what I did to your lighters. A gun ain't nothing compared to the wind I control." She smiled brightly. "Do you want to burn the books or not?"

message 9: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments ((Thanks. :) ))

She didn't think he was serious? Well, he wasn't, but she didn't need to know that. He wanted to show her he meant business. He hadn't gotten a chance to in the library. He adjusted his gun slightly so he wouldn't hit her and shot right next to her, just close enough to scare her. He grinned and quickly put his gun away. He acted like it had never even happened, returning to the conversation. He replied, "Of course I do. FBI agents still like to burn things. But I'm keeping an eye on you, criminal." He gave her the 'I'm-watching-you' sign.

Jade jumped to the side a little with a stunned expression. She turned to him with a smirk. "You missed." She stated, then twirled around and strutted up to her door. She turned back around to face him. "Try not to touch anything valuable looking. I stole the house, not the items inside."

message 11: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He chuckled when she jumped. "Did you think I was aiming for you? I wouldn't kill you that quickly. Not before we burn those books at least. Loved the look on your face, by the way. Definitely worth the wasted bullet," he responded, jokingly. He put one hand behind his back with his fingers crossed and the other up like he was going to take an oath. "I solemnly swear I will try not to touch anything valuable looking." He gave a small bow when he was finished. "Is that good enough for you, Queen of the Castle?"

message 12: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade smiled and tilted her head. "I saw you put your hand behind you back. Don't you think that I would notice something like if I've stolen an entire house from a family of ten were-cats? But yeah. Don't break anything and I won't zap you." She opened the door and lead him inside. "Home sweet home. I'm honestly surprised it's not a pile of ashes. Though, with you here, it might be soon."

message 13: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He chuckled, replying. "Like I was actually going to follow a rule anyway. I assumed you would notice. I was just letting you know how it was going to be. Feel warned? And you're lucky your house isn't ashes yet. We were outside for a while. I was starting to get bored." 'Don't break anything' was very different than 'don't touch anything valuable looking.' It sounded like permission enough to him. When she opened the door and lead him in, he instantly walked over to the most valuable looking thing in the room. He gently put his hand on it, asking, "How much do you think this is worth on the black market? Enough for a kidney? Plutonium? Or not even close?"

Jade snorted. "It's worth a lot! If you didn't tell the buyer that it's cursed and anyone who opens it will be instantly eaten alive by flaming monster spiders. Most of this stuff is cursed with crazy things like that. I figured that if someone stole from me, I was going to get a little fun out of it."

message 15: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He smiled. "That's a great idea. But I can't help but feel like you're joking. I'm pretty tempted to open it." He put his hand on the lid, trying to gauge her reaction. He didn't personally want to be killed by 'flaming monster spiders', whatever those were, but he didn't want to punk out if she was actually joking. "I mean, 'flaming monster spiders' sound pretty made up to me. Even so, I could always just sell it to someone without letting them open it." He flashed an evil smile. "Let them find out for themselves. You can save lives if you just tell me the truth."

message 16: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade cringed when he put his hand on the lid. "Look, I don't know if you're trying to show off or something. But opening that thing means certain death. I've seen it personally and it's not pretty. So, if you wanna sell something pretty that isn't dangerous," she grabbed a pure black, glossy box from a shelf behind her and turned back to him. "I would recommend this or one of the little shiny things in it." She opened the box to show the gold, silver, and emerald pendants in every shape and size. She looked down at it. "Well, I think it's not dangerous anyway. I've never tried any of them on. I got all of this neat stuff from a really creepy guy so I'm assuming these pins have something off about them. You can try one out if you want."

message 17: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments Parker grew a bit more serious when he saw Jade cringe. He realized she probably wasn't joking. He took his hand off of the lid, holding his hands up as a sign of peace. "Woah. It's alright. I'm just messing around. I'd never actually take your stuff. I'm not that kind of person." He put his hands down, leaving the 'flaming monster spider' container alone. He was seriously considering taking the pendants, but decided against it. "I'd be fine with trying on a pin if you'd like, but I don't need anything to sell. If I wanted to find something to sell, I'd steal it from a hunter or something. Taking handouts right in front of someone isn't exactly my style."

message 18: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade smiled. "Good. Because if you tried taking anything out of this house without permission the place would zap you and we wouldn't want that, now would we? But honestly, I don't care about most of this junk. It's just here to intimidate and look pretty."

message 19: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He replied, "I haven't personally been zapped by lightening before, so..." he shrugged. Why not? "It is a good idea to put this stuff out here, though. I would have gone for the 'monster spider' box thing right away if I was a criminal. But, I'm still not a fan of handouts. I earn the things that I get." He smirked, looking around the room at the variety of objects. "Alright. Where are the books you hate? I'm pumped to burn something, even if I don't have any lighters to personally burn it with."

message 20: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade put the box down and took him into a large room with shelves and shelves of books. She pulled off ten books. "I took these from a jerk that wouldn't leave anyone alone. They're spell books and I would absolutely love to see them burn! I just haven't gotten around to it." She took them outside and set them in a fire pit, then she ran back inside her house and brought out a silver lighter with a black vine patterned on it in thin lines. She handed it to Parker. "Light 'em up!"

message 21: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He followed Jade into a room that looked pretty similar to the library they were just in, with all of its shelves of books. Only ten books? Out of that many books, he would have figured there would be more that she would want burned, but he wasn't one to judge. At least he got to see some books being burned, something he hadn't realized he wanted to see until today. After he waited by the fire pit for her to come back, he was pretty surprised that she had handed him the lighter instead of lighting it herself. He asked, "You sure you don't want to light it? They're your jerk's books. Who was it? I'll kill him, if he's that bad." He was actually being serious for once, even if he usually may have seemed like he was joking.

message 22: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade nodded. "You wanted to burn them so badly and I have plenty of books to burn. Whether I want to burn them or not I have enough. You can also keep the lighter. I owe you for breaking your other two. And if I knew where the jerk was I would gladly let you kill him."

message 23: by Armina (last edited Jan 11, 2016 08:35PM) (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments Parker smiled. "Thanks." He was surprised when she offered him the lighter. He looked it over in his hand quickly. It did look pretty nice. "You know I was kidding when I said you had to buy me a new lighter, right? Those things really didn't cost me much. I bought them at a gas station." He would have actually killed someone like that jerk, too, if he knew where he was. "Does the jerk have a name? I could talk to my FBI friends, see if they know anything," he joked, still wanting to know a name if he could. He was sure he'd run into him eventually, with or without knowing it. He'd just have to see, he supposed.

message 24: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade shrugged. "I control lightning. What use do I have from a lighter? And I think his name was Fleet. And surprisingly enough, he was a were-cat." She chuckled and shook her head. "So, are you gonna burn the books?"

message 25: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments ((I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight.))

"Of course." He smirked, then leaned down and set the books on fire, lighting each individual book on fire so the whole thing would burn faster. He watched the flames grow as he responded, "Thanks, then. For the lighter. And Fleet, huh? Did you take his house or something? We're going to have a word when I find him, that's for sure." He cracked his knuckles to reiterate the fact that he already assumed she had understood. That were-cat would pay for whatever he did. Definitely.

((G'night))

Jade watched the flames and grinned, the fire and daylight combining to make her look evil. She looked at Parker. "I didn't steal his house. I think he lives in the cursed meadows. No one that evil can live anywhere else." She said, absentmindedly rubbing the hidden scar on the back of her neck. "He was a terrorist. And I have the scars to prove it." She pulled her hair away from the black scar on the back of her neck to show him.

message 27: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He put the lighter in his coat pocket, grinning at the flames, until he heard Jade speaking. He turned to look at her, absentmindedly readjusting his coat. His grin soon vanished at the mention of the cursed meadows. He had heard of the place. Nothing but trouble. His expression soon turned into a scowl at the mention of scars. "What." Through clenched teeth, it sounded more like a statement than a question. He stared at her scar silently, growing more and more angry at this "Fleet" every second. He forced himself to look away, staring at the fire instead. Sure, he had plenty of scars, but no one else deserved to have any. He calmed himself down enough to ask a question. "How long ago was this?"

message 28: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
"A month or two. I took his books and he left. This scar he gave me starts throbbing sometimes and I think I see his eyes." She said staring into the fire. Yellow cat eyes seemed to glow in the flames and she looked away. "It's almost like the scar tells me when he's near me. It scares me."

message 29: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He looked at her with new concern. This was exactly the type of thing he was trying to prevent from happening in the Haven. He grabbed the sledgehammer that he always strapped to his back, leaning it against his shoulder for now. He would gladly use it against someone like Fleet. "Can you tell if he's nearby now? I could teach him a lesson for messing with you. Either that, or I could go looking for him in the cursed meadows later. For the same reason." He tightened his grip on the sledgehammer, cautiously beginning to look around. If she had brought him up, he might be nearby.

message 30: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade shook her head. "No. If he was anywhere close the scar would be throbbing." She rubbed the scar again. "One time it started burning. I turned around and he was right there with one of his pure black daggers. He looked like he was about to cut off my wings. I managed to get away before he could do anything. I about had a heart attack though."

message 31: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He sighed, slightly relieved, and relaxed a bit. He put his sledgehammer back, looking away. He moved his wing stumps under his jacket, slightly uncomfortable with the talk of cutting off wings. He didn't want to think about how it might be different for faries getting their wings cut off. He had heard that they might die because of it, but he wasn't sure if that was just a rumor. Now wasn't the time to ask. He looked back at her, replying, "I'm sorry that happened to you. No one deserves something like that." He was definitely going after this were-cat later. No doubt about it.

message 32: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
She smiled at him. "It's okay. The biggest issue with him was his books. Now that they're charred to ashes he's only super dangerous instead of super duper dangerous."

message 33: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He wasn't sure how she could smile at something like that, but he made himself smile, too. "Fine then. I guess so. At least they're burned now." He looked her in the eye solemnly, adding, "But if this were-cat ever even looks at you again, let me know. I'll take care of him for you, alright? And anyone else like him who deserves to be punished for their actions." A smile returned to his face as he turned to the remains of the books, watching the embers of the fire.

message 34: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
"Thank you. I will." She looked at the embers to. "Have you ever seen lightning up close?" She asked randomly.

message 35: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He looked back at her questioningly, a bit surprised at the seemingly-random question. He responded, "How close? Like, wow-that-lighting-was-nearby close, or how-did-I-not-get-struck-by-that-lighting-it-was-so-close close?" He smirked slightly at his own question. "Personally, I haven't seen either. Only the usual distance away. Why? Do you feel like smiting something with your 'weather wrath'?"

message 36: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
"A little, yeah. I'll be right back." She said, dashing into her house. She came out a minute later with a gold vase. She settled it in the ashes so it wouldn't fall over. "Sometimes I can feel that my weather magic energy levels are getting to high, so I zap this vase. It seems to be lightning resistant so I can do it over and over. Sometimes it traps the lighting and I stick the energy in jars for pranks or something."

message 37: by Armina (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments He waited quietly for her to come back, shoving his hands into his pockets. He was hoping that meant she was going to shoot lightning at something, which seemed like it would be amazing. He stared at the fire pit until she came back and he turned his attention to her. He smirked. "That sounds awesome. You'll definitely have to sign me up to help you prank someone with that sometime." He gestured to the vase like a TV spokesperson, shuffling back a step. "Zap away."

message 38: by Emily ~Autumn, Winter~, HI BERT! (new)

Emily ~Autumn, Winter~ (isabeefexer) | 5720 comments Mod
Jade concentrated a little and black clouds formed over the fire pit. She pointed to the vase and a black a yellow and white streak of lightning flashes and the gold glowed red. She smiled. "I haven't done that in to long."

He smiled, staring at the lightning until it stopped. It looked amazing up close. He smirked, looking back at her. "Why not? You should do that every day. It was awesome!" He turned to stare at the glowing red vase, astonished. "I really feel like touching that." He held his hand out toward it and looked back at her, to see if this was some magic thing that might kill him, or if he would just get burned normally.

((It's okay! It's busy for me too!))

"I should do it everyday." She agreed. She smiled at him when he reached towards the vase. "You can touch it. But it's going to hurt worse than any other burn you've ever had by ten times."

message 41: by Armina (last edited Feb 07, 2016 12:37PM) (new)

Armina (arminasilverfang) | 600 comments She smiled at her comment and replied, "Wanna bet?" He had been burned plenty of times before, with and without magic. Sure, it was probably extremely hot, but that sounded pretty similar to a challenge. He touched the back of his hand to the pot and instantly recoiled in pain, looking down at the new burn he had. One to add to the collection. He clenched his jaw to keep from yelling and looked back up at Jade with a cocky smirk. "Not that bad," he lied through clenched teeth.
