Best Fantasy Books Subgenre Reading Challenge discussion

I know this is the second book in a series and we haven't read the first, but it can be read on its own. Another double prologue book: the first prologue is a very dense summary of what happened in the first book, and the second prologue gets us into the mundane spell currently cast over London. It all catches us up.

The first prologue is so incredibly dense with information that I had a hard time getting through it, so I read the first page and then skipped ahead to the next prologue. Judging by that first page I read of the initial prologue and the others I just briefly glanced at, I'm not sure this book will be my thing. The short sections ahead might keep me going through it, but "Army of the Ten Billion Spiders" and "Fabulous Beast" and "Extinction Shears" don't sound like things I will appreciate. That's just my own taste. I'm still going to give it a shot in case I do end up liking it. You never know! I might skim a bunch of it...we'll see.

Confirmed, I am really not a fan of this one. It isn't working for me, and I don't really like the characters either. I'll say it's decently fast-paced...ish...but it's just not something I'm enjoying reading. I don't want to waste time on it, so I'll probably drop it now. Go on and leave your thoughts though!
