And he's back! What more did we learn to help us understand Maggie's feelings about Nick?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Nick did some self-searching, it appears, and returned to his strength. He also cared about Maggie, more than the hound dog he appeared to be in the first book would have. Having been way wrong about Father Keller, he was indebted to Maggie and had to have grown up even to be willing to face her, I think.

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments I liked Nick better in this book but would prefer Maggie to end up with Tully :-)

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Another thing I liked about Nick was his willingness to stay in Maggie's house (in the sleeping bag) when a killer was on the loose. That showed some bravery, I think.

Phrynne | 607 comments I hardly recognised Nick in this book. His character changed totally from the first one. And I am not sure about Maggie's feelings. She has so many of them:)

I could better see the contrasts between Nick and Greg in this story, which helped me understand Maggie's attraction to Nick. Greg is self-focused and critical; Nick is in awe of Maggie's accomplishments and actually admires her strength. The things that define her are what he admires. I got it!

It helps, too, that Nick has not only changed jobs but moved across the country to be his own man. I actually liked him here.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I liked Nick. As Jonetta mentioned, in comparison to Greg he is a perfect hero.

But, I'm with Tracey. I like Tully even better than Nick.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Do we have an idea of Tully's and Nick's relative ages? I guess I was picturing Nick as quite a bit younger than Tully, but maybe I'm just confused :-)

Tully's 43-years old; Nick is 36-years old (his age in the first book).

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Thanks!

Melissa (melissasd) | 194 comments Nick has definitely found his own way and has grown up a bit since the last book. He's finally doing what he likes. There are still strong feelings between him and Maggie and I would like to see where that goes. I'll give Tully my vote secondary to Nick. :-) Nick is also the complete opposite of Greg and I think Maggie needs that.
