I could not wait. I had to find out how Jane Smiley ended this of 100 years of a family's life in the United States, especially what her prediction is for the few of the hundred years that have not yet happened. And wow, her vision is rather apocalyptic for the US.
We follow fewer characters in this third, with the major ones including some members of Frank and Joe's family, Claire, and Henry. Most fascinating for me was Andy (Frank's wife). As in books one and two, we relive the historical events. But then we hit the present and go beyond. Needless to say, the future is exptrapolation from the current events.
I loved the first two and this one did not disappoint, but how I felt about the events changed as they got closer and closer and then beyond the current day. I'd be interested in how others of you who have read all three feel about the triology.
