Middle East/North African Lit discussion

Those of you wishing to do a group read, what recommendations do you have?

at the top of my list at the moment are The Good Muslim and Mornings in Jenin but I'm game for anything! All the books that members are saying they want to tackle in this challenge look great :D

I just finished The Good Muslim so would participate if there were a group read.

I've added Mornings in Jenin to my challenge, along with The Kindness of Enemies by Leila Aboulela and The Architect's Apprentice the newest book by Elif Shafak

However if no one else wants to read these books, or a group read please don't set up a group read just for me! I'll read them independently in that case.

Would Sex and the Citadel: Intimate Life in a Changing Arab World by Shereen El Feki count for the challenge or is it only for fiction? This book is non-fiction.
