Frances | 15 comments I am not a big non-fiction reader but I did enjoy this. It took me ages as there is lots of it. I read it in paperback and the print was tiny, which didnt help! I doubt I would have picked it up without the bookclub, though the cover makes it look like a historical fiction, which I do read. It shows it is good to try things out of your comfort zone occassionally.

Ruth Mcauley | 7 comments Although I didn't hate this book, I probably wouldn't read it again. I think it would make good research material for an author thinking about writing a book set in this period. It would certainly make their lives easier!

Anne-Marie | 16 comments I don't tend to read much non fiction but I really enjoyed this book. I really liked the writing style and I found the book much easier and more entertaining to read then I initially thought it would be. Definitely worth a read even if it's not your usual type of book.
