Does anyone know where to find information on Japanese novels in English translation that are slated to be published or released in the future? - I can only do google search. So far I was lucky to find info on "six four" by Hideo Yokoyama that was recently published, and "a quiet place" by Seicho Matsumoto, which will be released July 2016 ...

It's really hard to find a one-stop shop for this kind of info. Soho Publishing has crime novels, Veritcal Inc has sci fic/crime, light novels, Tuttle has many different kinds of publications and often a novel or two. Haikasoru has sci fi as mentioned above, Viz in general is a good place to look, I think they are gearing up publishing novels in addition to manga. There is a company called One Peace Books that has light novels. Yen Press is coming out with lots of novels in addition to their manga. Vintage books is another good one with more mainstream adult japanese content. Haruki Murakami is published by Grove.

My favorite is 3%, Rochester University's translation database. It covers all upcoming translations into English from any language by year.

Typically they put out a huge Excel file in December, which lists all upcoming translated titles for the following year. Anyone can download it. According to the 2016 file, there are 5 Japanese titles to be released this year. Go have a look.

The "three percent" database is excellent. However, it seems to only list books published or released in the US. Therefore, I could not find, for example, a reference to "Six Four" by Hideo Yokoyama and "From the Fatherland, With Love" by Ryu Murakami, both of which were released in the UK. Does anyone know if there is a comparable database published in the UK?

I got the murakami ryu here last year in Canada but this was by Internet and a friend at the bookstore... the yokoyama not yet...

Since someone mentioned haikasoru in this thread, I'd like to ask what you thought of their translation quality.

I've found Viz in general to have translation issues and editorial decisions that result in bad English releases. I really don't trust them anymore and have avoided buying anything from haikasoru. Yen press at least appears sincere in their efforts, though I've come across occasional contradictions in their releases that would indicate translation errors. Vertical I've had no problems with. Perhaps like the more mainstream publishers they have a more polished product that hides any issues, so you wouldn't know unless you read it alongside the original.

Bill - I'm a pretty big sci-fi fan and as such Haikasoru is interesting to me. I've read a few of their translations. Most have been fine - I didn't check the original works but the translations didn't seem to have any glaring errors and they read easily. The exception was Battle Royale, which was downright painful to read. But it seems to be an exception (so far, at least).
