One of my favourite first lines of a book.

I listened to this some time back from Librivox. Had read it in my teens and loved it both times.

yes, its quite famous first line.....even people who haven't read the book, knows the line!! ;)

I am very excited about this book *-*
although I have watched the movie starring Keira Knightley ,so not much of a suspense but still excited ;)

I haven't seen the movie but the book was amazing :D

Finished 4th chapter!!
Mr. Bingley's welcome party/ball is finished and now jane, lizzy and their mother are having discussion about it :)

Oh Okay !! I liked that party. that is the party where Mr .Darcy and Elizabeth first meet right !? Not sure !! He was so rude to Elizabeth :( But he is my favorite Character in the book !

Hey, why you didn't like her !? She is the typical Indian Mother :) even though she may sound ignorant , she wanted the best for her daughters !!

I also didn't like the mother but Mr. Bennett was really good with his sallies :P

Jane and lizzy are now living in Mr. Bingley's home for few days.
You were right Manasa, I am not liking Mrs. Bennett much!! (view spoiler)[who sends their daughter in rain and get ill just so see could spend more time with someone you want her to marry!!? (hide spoiler)] Also she is so braging and boasting type!

I was away on holi vaccations so havent read anything..........

Girls, I have just ordered Pride and Prejudice. I have watched movie so wanting to read it long time. but, I haven't read any classics except short stories recommended by Arpit. Tale of the two cities was a big failure for me. So, I dont have much hopes, but gonna try. I hope your discussion continues till I get book. *finger crossed*

@ Aarti- don't worry, I too have put the book on hold for a week (due to lot of work load!!). It would be really nice if you could join the discussion :)

I read 3 chapters. finished dance
I like Mr. Bennet. Mrs. Bennet is typical house-wife
I dont understand why she detest Mr. Darcy. If he doesn't want dance, whats the big deal?

I know, right, I don't like her much ( you will see that in next few chapters)...... I am on chapter 10.

on chapter 13. cousin Collins is going to visit soon..................
Jane and Lizzy are back at home.....Mr. Darcy and Lizzy had lot of interactions in previous chapters and I think Mr. Darcy begins to likes Lizzy *_*

I finished 11 chapters. I too detest Mrs. Bennet and Miss Bingley. I like Lizzy and Mr. Darcy's interactions

On chapter 18.....

Miss Bingely is okay, she is just jealous so I can understand her, Mrs. Bennet on the other hand is whole new story ( chapter 16)(view spoiler)[ when they are having dinner at the ball, and she is talking with Mrs. Lucas about possible marriage of Jane....uughhh....I could feel for Lizzy (hide spoiler)]

I like Mr. Bingley, tbh I don't have much opinion about him but I really really like Jane, at this point even better than Lizzy (view spoiler)[how she didn't just believe Mr. Whitman, but had a rational thinking instead of giving to gossips (hide spoiler)]

Mr .Bingley is good , but he is overshadowed by Mr.Darcy . Loved the way Jane Portrayed him. An intense Character !

I like them both. havent thought about them much.

met Mr. Wickham too. He is speaking ill of Mr. Darcy. I am confused now. Is it true?
Lizzy likes Mr. Wickham :(
I can say that Jane is both beautiful and brilliant because the way she defended Mr. Darcy when Lizzy told her about her earlier discussion with Mr. Wickham was so logical and clever.
