S Hey everybody! One of April's BOTM's is Cinder! Feel free to post your thoughts here on this book in future months too if you just get around to it then:) Also, this is a popular book so if you've already read it before, feel free to write your thoughts here too.

SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO WRITE:
First you should introduce yourself, tell us what you rated the book, and link your blog/tumblr/insta/YouTube review if you have one!

After that it is up to you what to post. Some questions that you could answer include these:

How did you like Marissa Meyer's writing style?
Did the book read like a self-published book?
How did you like it compared to Sick Boy?
Who was your favorite character?
Were your expectations met going into this?
Did you think the pace of this book was well done?
What was your favorite moment?
What surprised you the most about this book?
Will you consider rereading the book?
Did you like the romantic relationships in this book?
Is this similar to any other book that you've read before?
How long did it take you to finish it?

Obviously you could ask other people questions that you have if you need:)

Have fun!

Lexie | 40 comments I read Cinder a little while ago. It was an alright story but I didn't love it. I rated it 3 stars. It was a little slow I think and the writing style was nothing special, plus the Cinderella story is done soooo many times so it's getting a little cliched, but Cinder did have an interesting concept with the futuristic world and the robots and stuff. I loved Prince Kai! I've heard the series gets better as it goes along so I'll probably continue it. See how it goes.

Kelly (kellyk22) I didn't like how quickly we were thrown in the world in the beginning. I was trying to figure out what was going on without knowing any of the vocabulary. Once I figured that out I really enjoyed it.

Isabella (izzi8970) | 21 comments I loved it a lot :) Cress is my favorite so far (haven't read Winter yet)

My name is Christine (duh) and I loved this book. My review is here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and I rated it 5stars, but its more of a 4 1/2...

I liked her writing style, and my favorite character was Peony. Fav moment was when she said to the Queen, maybe he loves me, or something like that. What surprised me most was that DR. was a lunar. No, I wouldn't reread. And I have read similar books. Matched, cause of the love triangle and rebellion....

Took me my usual, a day to finish.

Denisa (deelopa) | 8 comments I read Cinder when it came out, which I think was back in 2012. I read it within a few days because I liked it a lot! It's a very well written fairly tell retelling set in a sci-fi world. Cinder is a very strong protagonist, although I felt like the author was using a lot of tropes (like, long lost princess and stuff like that). As you get through the series though, the books get better and better.

Thats good to know. Im starting Scarlett tomorrow

mace (maces) Hi! My name is Mayke and I have already read Cinder a while ago. I rated it 5 stars. I know it's not high quality literature, but I enjoyed it so much that I just decided to give it 5 stars. I really liked Cinder as a MC, because I feel like I am a lot like her. Strong on the outside, insecure on the inside, not very girly and very protective. Kai is nice too, not anything special, but he manages to make Cinder laugh. The world is not very well explained in Cinder, after reading Cinder, you know next to nothing about the Lunars. That was one of the only complaints I had about this book. Luckily, you get to know Lunars better in Scarlett. (view spoiler) I was very surprised about how fast I finished this book. The hours ticked by without me noticing. I expected a fun Cinderella retelling and that was what I got, so that's why I gave it 5 stars.

Scarlet is good! It took awhile to get into since it starts off with a new character (Scarlet), but it still features Cinder. The story get's bigger and it's pretty amazing! Hope you like it!

Scarlet is really good..You will like it a lot.

Dami | 1 comments I loved it. I rated it 4 or 5 stars I think, but Cress still is my favourite, then Winter, then Cinder, I didn't like Scarlet as much as the others

Soumya (-crazyangelicvamp-) | 3 comments https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I just finished reading it today. Above's the link to my review and I guess it answers most of the above questions, though I guess I was hysterical with the feels there. All in all, it was awesome, though I can't really say I loved it, but it was good. My rating is four stars, four because of the slightly predictable plot. Enjoyed this.

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) | 32 comments Isabella wrote: "I loved it a lot :) Cress is my favorite so far (haven't read Winter yet)"

Cress was my second Fave! After Winter. I liked how everything wrapped up in the end.

Cinder I really loved the twist on a classic story. Loved the Cyborg aspect. I did think that it was so slow to start tho. Like nothing really good happened till the end. But I liked it enough to continue reading and I am so happy that I did.
Scarlet pissed me off at first because after the way Cinder ended I just really wanted to know what was going on with her. But then I began liking Scar and so the story was awesome.

Catarina (TravelerBetweenWorlds) (travelerbetweenworlds) | 7 comments Hi, everyone! I normally read fantasy and YA the most and I took my chances with Cinder, a fairy tale retelling.

I rated Cinder with 4 stars. Actual rating: 4.5 stars. I really loved it and it really impressed me but I couldn’t bring myself to give it 5 stars.
I leave the link to my review posted here on Goodreads, where I have answered the questions individually (it was easier for me) if anyone want to check it out, I would be grateful (free to say anything, it means a lot to me and I really want to improve my reviews, for now they aren’t such big deal. Thanks)

Before reading Cinder, I just knew that it was a fairy tale retelling. I was expecting that it would be a lot alike with the classic, that insta love, the dramatic situations… (No disrespect for those who love fairy tales, that is just my opinion.) Anyway, I was surprised that it wasn’t like that at all, which I’m glad. I’m happy that I finally picked up this book.
I loved that this book has cyborgs and aliens, it’s just so amazing. I would never associate that to a fairy tale.
I found this retelling very predictable. I don’t know if it is because is based on a fairy tale that I know… This is actually my first fairy tale retelling that I read at all, I think that I never read one before, at least that I knew the classic that was based on.

S I rated this a 5, but my actual rating would be a 4.75.
This is my blog:

I really loved this book. After so much hype, I was so happy to have gotten into this, especially after having it for over a year. Even though the book was an easy and highly enjoyable read, looking back on it I feel like not much happened, especially throughout the first half. Anyone else agree? I thought that it was refreshing to actually get a love interest(Kai) who was actually kind all of the time to our protagonist. Most of the time we get moody/happy love interests. Also, the plot twist at the end though!!!!!!! Cinder is Princess Selene! I remember the thought crossing my mind at some point previously but never expected it to actually be true! I still can't believe it. That was a huge plot twist! As you can tell I really loved this book.

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) | 32 comments @Catarina it was my first retelling too! I was really pleased. I loved the story. (Even though I knew it...sorta) The start was a little slow for me but the ending I really loved.
Are you going to read Scarlet?

Yelena Lugin (ylugin) | 32 comments @Sean I agree... not much happened in the first half. It want till the last like 30 pages that everything happened and then it ended and I was like WHAT?! No. I need more!

Catarina (TravelerBetweenWorlds) (travelerbetweenworlds) | 7 comments @Yelena that's nice, I'm glad that you like it. Yeah, that ending was really something. It would be nice (I think) to continue to read the series in this group. But yes I'm definitely going to read Scarlet, I just don't know when :)

Me too. The plot was predictable, though. Hated that.

Catarina (TravelerBetweenWorlds) (travelerbetweenworlds) | 7 comments @ Soumya I get that too, I love when goes in way that I was not expecting, normally those books are just PERFECT!

My opinions are very similar to your:)

Victoria (victoriammd) Hi, I'm Victoria, I read the book for another book club and I think I gave it 3 stars (it was like a year and a half ago). I didn't think it was that great, the author I really like, but the story other than the rethinking of the fairy tales characters wasn't that original. I gave it a shot and read the rest of the series, so far it's the worst one in my opinion.

Ioana (gionisbooks) | 1 comments Hi, I'am Jo. I rated it 5 stars because Cinder is one of my favorite books. I just love the writing style and i found the story unique. The pace is alert and you do not get bored by it. My favorite character is Iko because even tho she is a cyborg she tries to be as much human as she can be and i just loved her personality. It read it already 2 times and finished the other books too. It took me like 3 days to finish it.
