Karlyne Landrum | 59 comments And, do you know, I've never despised Mr. Collins. As you pointed out so well, he does have some lovely qualities. And, although he's a terrible bore, he's not malicious. He's not, for instance, a Mr. Elton!


Victoria_Grossack Grossack (victoriagrossack) | 66 comments Glad you enjoyed the thread's title! Yes, Mr. Collins is much more principled than Mr. Elton. Mr. Collins is naturally resentful when Elizabeth rejects him, but still invites her to stay with him and treats her very well. Of course, they are cousins. And Mr. Collins has married Charlotte, who may have married for money, but who is certainly a lot nicer than Augusta Hawkins Elton.
