50.1 - Perletwo's task: Primary Colors

I'd say the background needs to be at least half the cover (& will update the task to reflect that), so no, that won't do. I hear it's a good book though!

Hm. It's a gradient, but the right green covers a little more than half, so I'll approve it.

Fair enough. I thought it probably wasn't red enough, but I wanted to check. I have another option, but I just picked this one up from the bookstore a few days ago, so I was hoping I could sneak it in. Hehe.
It looks like its set in IL, though, so I might use it for Book 2 :)

It looks like it should work for that, I'll update to approve it for the setting task. Glad you can make it work.

1. I'll approve Rebecca, but Vicious' cover is too orange.
2. As one of the examples, Outlander is already approved. Under the Wide & Starry Sky's cover is too light a blue, and That Night's cover doesn't have enough of the primary blue in it to qualify. (I loved That Night, though.)
3. Neuromancer's cover is too olive-green for the task.

Does the setting need to be stated on goodreads or is it enough for us to just say where it is set from reading the book?
Also, for those other non-Americans who are confused by all the abbreviations - I found this helpful.... http://www.50states.com/abbreviations...
Thanks

Ooh, I didn't see Outlander up there. Thank you! :D

Thanks for the list link!
It would be very helpful if your books' GR pages at least indicated the setting in the description, since none of us have read all the books that are out there. But - and I'll check with the real mods on this - I think it may be taken on good faith if you state the setting.

Can I please get this approved for setting, Pennsylvania:

From the above review:
In her eighth novel, a coming-of-age story set in rural Pennsylvania, Quindlen (Still Life with Bread Crumbs, 2014, etc.) focuses on a young woman buffeted by upheavals in her personal life and a threat to the farmland her family has owned for generations.
Thank you!

It is mentioned in a couple of reviews too if that helps (We Were Liars - MA)
Also, forgot to say - nice task, well done on the midpoint high score!

I'll approve the audio edition's cover, yes. It doesn't look like any of the paper or e editions use that cover, though, so if you're not using the audiobook, it won't work for the task.

Approved, now that I've embiggened the image for a closer look!

Red:

Blue:

Red: the Alexander McCall Smith is too orange. Promised Land is the right red (& a terrific book) but I don't think it's quite 50% of the cover. Body Farm: Approved!
Blue: not enough of the Doctor Who cover is primary blue. The Shape of Water is too pale a blue.
Green: Myth-Conceptions is too pale a green. Not enough green on the seed book's cover.

NP. But that is much too minty-pastel a green, sorry.

No worries...I had a feeling it wasn't dark enough. Thanks for the fast response!

Each book is described as you scroll down. The Broken Window is book 8 in the series.

Approved: Prodigal Summer, 13 Hours in Benghazi, The Peach Keeper
Rejected: not enough green on A Walk In the Woods or Lost Lake, The Book of Tea is too olive.

Upon embiggening & staring at it a bit, I'll approve Eloquence of the Dead. The Bachelor Girls' Guide is too dark a green, & Green Eye is too olive.
Maestra: Approved.

I'm approving The Cinderella Murder and The Wizard Heir.
The Bit In Between is a leeeetle bit too pale a red. You're on the right track there, but think brighter red.

Northern Lights is too light. I'll approve A Fatal Grace.

In the U.S., it's an election year, and campaign ads for electoral primaries are everywhere this spring. Just as the painters of the pop art movement made great use of primary colors, for the last several years political pundits have used the primary colors Red and Blue to denote the two general voting trends of the country: Red for conservative/Republican territories, Blue for liberal/Democrat territories, as seen in this map of the 2012 presidential election.
This is a three-book task. Do one of each of the options below.
Books with the genre Children's or Kids may NOT be used for this task.
Book 1-Red: Either read a book set at least 50 percent in a "red" U.S. state as per the map linked above (AK, AL, AR, AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, WY)
OR
Read a book with a cover that has a red background. The red must be primary color red as close to the red on the map as possible. The background needs to be at least half the cover.
REQUIRED: If using the first option, state the setting of the book. If using the second option, include the cover in your post.
Book 2-Blue: Either read a book set at least 50 percent in a "blue" U.S. state as per the map linked above (CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IA, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA, WI)
OR
Read a book with a cover that has a blue background. The blue must be primary color blue as close to the blue on the map as possible. The background needs to be at least half the cover.
REQUIRED: If using the first option, state the setting of the book. If using the second option, include the cover in your post.
Book 3-Green: It's not easy being a third-party alternative to the two majors, but the Green Party gives its best every election year. Either read a book from Popular Social Justice Books,
OR
Read a book with a cover that has a green background. The green must be as close to the signature green of the Green Party logos/website as possible. The background needs to be at least half the cover.
REQUIRED: If using the Popular Social Justice list identify the page. If using the second option, include the cover in your post.
