Come on in and introduce yourselves...

I'm Yvonne from New York. I have two cats of my own. I love reading, of course, and my favorite genres - cozy mysteries, romantic suspense and romance.

I'm Mallory, in GA, online reviewer since April 2007, voracious reader since mid-1950's:), lover of almost all animals, owned by 3 dogs, 1 cat.

Gail (koalabear3) I'm Gail from Michigan. I love to read cozy mysteries, mysteries and romance. I love to read stories that have cats and dogs in them. We used to have cats when the kids were home but now I just enjoy our daughter's cat. I think I am allergic to them but I still love them.

Lori Henrich I'm Lori. Just recently moved to Ohio. I love cozy mysteries and my favorite series has to be The Cat Who... stores by Lilian Jackson Brown. I have one cat currently, just had to remove one from our home. So we will be on the hunt for a new member of the family soon.

I love cozy mysteries, including the classics such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers, and also modern crime writers such as Emily Brightwell and Lillian Jackson Brown.

I had cats when I was growing up, but have two sweet birds now. :)

Wishing everyone a great day and happy reading!

message 6: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolethecozybookworm) | 2 comments Hi!

My name is Nicole and I am from Schiedam, The Netherlands! I have two cats myself, brothers who are going to be three years old this year, Joep and Frits. Got them from the shelter at 12 weeks, they were found on the street with mom and 3 other siblings.
I also have a dog, Semm, he is a Golden Retriever from Turkey, saved from the floods in Istanbul. He's been with us since 2011.

I love cozy mysteries, Agatha Christie and Murder, She Wrote. I can also enjoy an occasional biography. I don't nearly read as much as I used to due to work, but in my free time I always try to get a book! Haven't read many cat mysteries yet, only the first book of the Mrs. Murphy series by Rita Mae Brown.

Have a great day everyone!

Rachelle - I read that book and loved it. Congrats on getting your name in it :)

message 18: by Jenn (new)

Jenn C | 1 comments Hello! I'm Jenn from Ontario, Canada and I work in my local library (where I can all-to-easily feed my book addiction!) I read equal amounts of cozies, romances, and non-fiction, with the occasional graphic novel and fantasy thrown in for good measure. Two (very spoiled) cats share my house (and my bed, most nights!).

I'm currently working my way through Sofie Kelly's "Magical cats mystery" series, though I'm always on the lookout for a new author!

message 19: by Betsy (new)

Betsy Hi, everyone. I am Betsy from Montgomery, AL. I am looking to move back to South Florida this year though. I LOVE kitties and cozies with felines in them. I read cozies for a break from usual fare of mystery/suspense. I have a tabby kitty named Tommy. He is a love.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

message 20: by Randee (new)

Randee (randee719) | 2 comments Hi everyone and thanks for the invite, Betsy! I am Randee from the Chicago area and I love reading and cats. I have 3 ginger tabbies of my own, Cheddar, JaeWook and Chanel. I am currently working my way through the Magical Cats mystery series by Sofie Kelly and am enjoying them immensely. I am on number #4, Cat Trick. They are the first cat mysteries I've read but I hope to read more. I am sure I will enjoy being a member of this book group!!!!

message 21: by Scott (new)

Scott Coleman | 3 comments Hi everyone, my name is Scott and I have written two books about a magical cat called Jack McCuddles. The idea came to me when I was wondering what was actually going on in a cat's head. So I discovered that Jack loves himself so much that when he gets involved in a mystery he has no idea what's happening as he is too busy talking about himself or looking for his next meal and a nice place to nap :-)

The book sounds really interesting. Welcome to the group!

message 23: by Lauri (new)

Lauri (otwlauri) | 3 comments Aloha! I'm Lauri from Hawaii and I just happened across this group in a random post -- thanks Amy! I could not resist! I have no pets at the present time because our building doesn't allow them. I have had many cats wander through my life and each one was very unique among all others. I love the cozy mysteries and I believe each one is enhanced by having a cat included, if not the star of the entire show. I recently read The Big Kitty starring Shadow, a cat who shared his thoughts a feelings. Loved it!

The Big Kitty (Sunny & Shadow Mystery, #1) by Claire Donally

message 24: by Phyllis (new)

Phyllis (phyllisbrannin) Hi everyone, I'm Phyllis from Gilbert AZ. Although my favorite books are mystery / thrillers, I love reading cozies especially when cats are involved. I have 3 cats, Jessie who is about 8 years old an 2 very rambunctious kittens that are almost a year old.
Looks like a very interesting group and I am looking forward to getting to kniw everyone.

I'm Jeanne Miller from Vermont and am currently owned by one Siamese rescue kitty named Simon Pasquale. He also goes by NosferCatu in honor of his long fangs, and Wicked Simon of Legree because he is a scamp. :)

I love both cat and dog mysteries as long as the story is told from the animal's perspective. This is the first group I've joined here and am so happy to have found it. :)

message 34: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashielizz) | 17 comments Hey everyone! I joined awhile back and looks like I never got around to being active. I'm Ashley from Virginia. I had 3 cats but sadly one was hit by a car and one we had to have put down and she got very sick. So now we're down to 1 cat and 3 dogs. Mysteries and animals have always been a passion of mine so combining the two is a win-win.

Hi all, my name is Alison. I am from the UK. We have 8 beautiful angels, all rescues and i like nothing better than curling up with a good book with them beside me. I look forward to getting to know you all. xx

message 41: by Della (last edited Dec 10, 2016 06:16AM) (new)

Della | 7 comments Hi! Alison. Della. US. on the west coast. Have dogs and cats. All rescues. I'm re-reading a great mystery series by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. It's about PI Joe Grey. Joe is a sentient cat. He has the local police department very frustrated. They keep getting the phone calls with tips that has helped make them the most successful pd at getting 'their man'. It is a lot of fun. Joe's acerbic comments on human's are spot on. And hilarious. Just read a post on the Feline Wellness Magazine FB page that I plan to share with the local Humane Shelter. A shelter in Pima County needed some help with some orphaned kittens. They all benefited from this. It is a lovely idea. And you are quite right. There is nothing better than curling up with our fur babies and reading a good book. Peace and Joy to you all

message 42: by Betty (new)

Betty (bettylouise54) | 55 comments Joe Grey is my favorite cat series. Best read in order CAT ON THE EDGE is the first one. Just learned there will be a new one next August CAT SHINING BRIGHT. Can't wait to read it.

I really like the Bad Luck Cat series by Kay Finch and Dean James Charlie and Diesel series.

LOL, Mr. M doesn't like any sort of transportation - other than his own paws -, either. In contrast, Purrseidon always wants to be on the go - bizarrely, her favorite destination is the beach. I suspect we somehow jinxed that cat when we named her because she's obsessed with water.
Both M and Purrseidon's personalities are reflected in my Sea Purrtector series, though Purrseidon doesn't show up until Purr-a-noia, which I was writing when she arrived in our family.
If anyone is interested, my books are listed on my website:

They don't even like to go for a car rid..." Hi! Have cats of my own. Love mysteries with animals in them. Have you read Shirley Rousseau Murphy Cat mysteries. The cat is sentient and has the local pd frustrated because they can't figure out who their mystery caller is. That said. Sorry if I say what you already know. Moved with my cats. A friend told me to be sure and not let them get out for at least 6 weeks. Because they will go back to where they used to live, no matter how far. Moving can be quite traumatic for them. We take everything with us. They can't. A favorite spot to soak up the sun. All those familiar scents that they are used to. Favorite window to watch the birds. Etc. Someone said something about a scent you can buy at the pet store that helps and our vet mentioned something about something to calm them. Didn't really pay attention to either one. My kids hate to travel. At all. I set their carrier out at least 2 days in advance so they get used to it. And they complain all the way to where ever we go. Whether the 10 minutes to the vet or the 3 hours to the coast for a week with my sister. I don't drive so we use the bus. Sometimes the other passengers get a little irate. Some find their 'singing' funny. One time a fellow passengers little girl asked to sing to them. Her mom said no and reminded her she is allergic to cat dander. In a very grown up sensible way she told her Mom she wasn't going to touch them. Just sing to them to make them happy. Her Mom sighed, rolled her eyes and told her to go ahead as long as she didnt get to close.

My vet said there was some spray to calm them too. To fly I have to get a certificate from the vet. We are bringing them tomorrow so she can do a check checkup so she can write it up. I'll ask her for the name of the spray or buy it from them. I have read 1 or 2 of the Shirley Rousseau Murphy Cat books. I also like the Midnight Louie books.
