The Shining: A Haunted Thread!!
English Teacher is good, you can go for it.
Although I'll personally suggest u Tom Sawyer, if you love naughty kids :P
I'm sure you'll love Number The Stars. It's short too:)
Then there's Ginny's reco To Sir, With Love.
For English Teacher, I'd suggest you to read Swami & Friends and The Bachelor of Arts first. They are a part of an unofficial trilogy.

From your shelves, I'm interested in Black Beauty, The perks of being a wallflower (ur 1-star might be my 5-star....just kidding), Speak and especially The Strange Case of Some doctor guy :P
Mishty, Narnia is good. Have you seen the movies?
But they are very childish. Very very childish. Very Childish.
For me, only book-1 and book-2 made a little sense. You could try book-1 (magician's nephew) and book-2 (the lion, the blah blah blah...)
If you had seen the first movie, i.e. The Lion, the witch...then you read only magician's nephew. It answers many question like "who was white which?" or "How the wardrobe was magical?"..etc.

Fantasy? Uhuh...actually I want to try fantasy, but they are always in series. I can't start new series now. I still have to complete the Giver series. Besides if it's a stand-alone fantasy (like Tigana), it will be more than 600 pages. It's difficult, since my exams are going on.
But if you know any fantasy-standalone book in less than 400 pags, then let me know. Okay duology will alos do.

Both are good. To Sir, with love is boring at some times. Honestly, the first quarter of the book is very boring but the later part is great.
Thanks Ann.
@Mishty, you go with Number the stars.

This one is in my syllabus this year.
Have it earlier too. Didn't like it much....

Actually, there's a fine difference, you will notice soon.

See, this is from a child's perspective. Things are not that serious here.
Plus the second girl, what was her name, was adorable.

Had a very busy day. Couldn't start yet. I'll start it tonight (just after leaving GR)
I have started The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, although I already know that (view spoiler)
But Still I'm liking it.

I totally forgot about the characters. I remember only the basic storyline :P
So Kristi was her (female protagonist, the child, and again what is her name) younger sister?

Well, it's like a half-empty glass or a half-full glass. Point of view changes a lot. In this book, the main characters aren't adults, but children. The war wasn't that fierce in this book. It's light, but still it manages to say what it wants to say. That's why I loved it.
The Nightingale, well, I already justified my rating in my review. Let's forget about that like a bad dream :)

Wow.

I, too, will finish The Strange Case tonight.

Wow. You really got the essence of the book. I agree with all these points.
I deducted one star 'cause the story wasn't complex at all. Actually, it's a children book :P
Have you read The Giver?
It's by the same author. You might like Giver, 'cause it's utopia.

I'm liking it. Although it's not as good as Dracula was!! But still till now it's 3.5 star material. Story is fast. I'd love it more if it was a novel instead of a novella. More detailing, I mean.
