Michael (dolphy76) | 490 comments Robert E Howard Days was this past weekend. I got there a little late just in time for the Banquet and Silent Auction on Friday night. This year the "years ending in 6" became the theme. 1906 was the year REH was born; 1936 REH died. 1946 Skullface and Others published by Arkham House. 1966 Lancer published the Conan Stories with Frazetta covers. 1986 First REH Days; 1996 "The Whole Wide World" movie premiered. 2006 - Twentieth anniversary of REH Days. Michael Scott Myers who wrote the screenplay for "The Whole Wide World" was the guest of honor and earlier on Friday, there was a showing of the movie "The Whole Wide World". He was a student of Novalyne Price in Louisiana and about the time she retired she wrote the book "One Who Walked Alone" based on her relationship with Robert E Howard. I missed the awards on Friday afternoon but Bobby Derie won two awards. Congratulations to him! I don't have a list of the rest but it should appear on the Foundation website soon. Friday night we had the usual "Fists at the Ice House" in the very spot where the boxing matches that REH used to take a part in took place. Of course it is just a slab of concrete behind the Texas Taxidermy shop now but it didn't destroy the magic. That is one of my favorite parts of the weekend ending with Mark Finn reading an excerpt from a Steve Costigan story. Saturday I attended 3 panels. We had a special visitor via skype from Sara Frazetta who is a grandaughter of Frank Frazetta. Check out the website: frazettagirls.com. Here is a schedule of events: http://www.howarddays.com/p/events.html It's billed as "The best two days in Howard Fandom" and it is very true. I never leave dissatisfied. If anyone ever has the chance to go I highly recommend it.
