MM Kaye is tops of course, but I also love Rebecca Ryman's books as well as the one and only written by Valerie Fitzgerald - Zemindar

Hee, hee. Kaye is my favorite author also. But I also adore Daphne DuMaurier, Mary Stewart, and Barbara Michaels. I've just discovered Georgette Heyer, and she may soon be added to the fav. list!

I think I'm going to have to go with Salman Rushdie (at least as regards authors having a connection to India) and William Dalrymple!
