There will be a time, as there always is when you'll read a book I raved about and scratch your head wondering WTF was she thinking?

Lol, this group isn't picking up as quickly as the Mary Stewart one is it?

I first read The Far Pavillions when I was in college, and developed an interest in the British Raj and India because of it. I also like other historical fictions/ history books.

Susan, excellent suggestion I'll change it. I just wanted the play on words of one of her more famous novels, Madam Will You Talk?
Sandybanks, welcome.

Glad I was able to help you for a change!

Welcome Bibliophile! Do you have any recommendations you could give me of Indian poets/writers I could read that would give me a good reference to mainly historical India?

Hannahr, I'm moving this over into the "books set in India topic, because I think it fits there better!!

I love reading books about India, my favorite being"the Rains came" by Louis Bromfield, a beautiful XXth century classic and also a very nice bio of Lady Edwina Mountbatten.
I was lucky to go to India very often in my former life as a flight attendant and to visit, it is an incredibly fascinating country.I was always happy to fly there.

Hi Dottie and welcome. Jump in whereever you like. It's been quiet around here except for our travel nattering.

I was intrigued by the title of this group and had to join because TFP is one of my all time favorite books. I first read it back in the 80's, then reread four years ago. I loved it more the second time around.
It appears this group is not active, but that is okay, I already learned something here. The bookshelf gave me some ideas so thank you.
