Apples, oranges, cherries, berries! You name it, we grow it!

Levi was walking around the orchard, eyes bright as he pulled his charcoal pencil along his notepad. Finally though, he sat down with his back to a tree and began to draw the people that also walked by, few as they were. Some were of a higher class and some were of his own, but none gave him and his dusty, ragged clothes.

((Was that last sentence unfinished..? Maybe you forgot to add something like, "..a second glance."))

Lily giggled as she ate yet another blackberry from the bush. She was just sitting next to it, legs crossed, enjoying the day. As much as she liked the castle garden, it got a little boring sometimes, and variety was good for the soul after all.

((Crap, yeah XD I get so scatter brained when I'm on mobile))

Levi heard a soft giggle and his eyes caught on a bright redhead. It'd be a sin to not draw a beauty such as she, he thought with a smirk. Turning the page in his notepad, he began to draw his current muse.

She reached for another berry, carefully avoiding the little prickers, and popped it in her mouth. Lily screwed up her face somewhat as a sour flavor exploded on her tongue, showing that berry hadn't been quite ripe.

Levi laughed slightly as he watched her and finished his drawing. He used his finger to smear and blend the charcoal, making his finishing touches. "Those are poisonous, you know," he jokingly called over to her.

Lily immediately looked toward the source of the voice. "Uh, no they're not!" She called back, grinning.

"That's what they all say," he stood up and walked over to where she was. "Then next thing you know, they drop dead," he says sarcastically, leaning against a tree with an amused smirk on his face.

"Well, I'm not "they"." Lily replied, lifting her head to get a better view of the boy. "I'm the main castle gardener, after all. I should know."

"Was the main castle gardner, as I'm afraid you don't have much time," he teased. Levi ripped out his drawing of her and bowed, as if she were a princess. "Levi Morrior, m'lady," and as he stood tall again, held out the drawing for her to take.

"Oh, hardly." She replied with a grin. Lily reached up curiously, accepting the paper and looking down at it. "Wow, this is really good! Did you draw this just now?" And indeed it was. The way Levi had wielded the charcoal had brought her to life!

"I did," he nodded, "couldn't pass up the opportunity," Levi grinned. "So does miss castle gardner have a name?" He raised an eyebrow. Mostly, any time he drew a girl, made a joke or two, and presented her with the drawing, they'd just blush without really speaking to him. This one was different, she could give it right back without hesitation.

((You know, it's funny, I my characters always forget to introduce themselves.))

"Oh, that's right! I'm Lily." She smiled at Levi. "Nice name you have there, by the way."

((Lol no worries!))

"Thanks, yours isn't too bad yourself," he grinned. "Were you named after the flower?" Levi's fingers idly twirled his pencil between his fingers.

"Oh, no. It's short for Lillian. But it's still rather ironic. And guess what? My middle name is ironic as well! " Lily grinned. "It's Rosella."

"Then I guess the castle picked the right girl for the job," Levi smiled. "No ironic last name though?" he asked, simply curious.

"Nope, just Call." Lily smiled. "Here," she said, lifting the drawing. "You should have it. You drew it, after all."

"No, I insist. Anyways, I'm sure I won't forget what you look like," he grinned lopsidedly with a small wink. "You can always just throw it away after we part ways, it won't hurt my feelings," he joked.

"Oh, I won't do that!" She exclaimed with a grin. "It really is good," Lily told him, smiling.

"Well, you must have an eye for talent then," he joked. "Though I don't doubt you probably have a pretty talented green thumb, right?" Levi grinned and raised an eyebrow.

"I do, in fact!" She blushed slightly, realizing she sounded a bit like she was bragging. "I mean, not that great, but I'm pretty good."

"Ah, no need to hide it. I'm sure since you're here the apples are ripening simply from your very presence," he smiled, noticing her blush, and that it made her rather gorgeous in addition to her red hair.

"Oh," Lily said, giggling a bit, because she had no words for his flirtatiousness. "Well..thank you." She finally replied, flushed an even deeper pink.

He grinned and placed his pencil in his pocket. "Mind if I come to see the castle gardens sometime?"

"Not at all!" She smiled, a bit shyly. "I think it's open to the public, really." She added that to make it sound as though she wasn't super excited for him to visit...which she was, of course.

"Open to the public, hm? Then I'll be stopping by for certain," he said in earnest with a grin. "Will you have a guard arrest me if a pick a peony from the garden?" He smirked. "They're my mother's favorite."

"I don't think just one flower will call for a guard. Besides," Lily added with a slight smile. "Almost everyone takes a flower home anyway."

"Good, I'd hate to be locked up and not get to see such a beautiful person again," Levi said. "Does your family work as gardeners too?"

"Oh, no." She said with a small smile. "My brother is a castle guard and my mother helps out at friend's houses. My father..well.." Her smile faltered. "He's dead."

Levi's own face fell as he heard her words. "Lily..I'm so sorry," he said gently, unsure of what else to say. As much as he and his own father butted heads, he'd be heartbroken if he were gone.

"It's okay," she replied quietly, her bubbly spirit evidently calmed, "I've mostly gotten over it anyway." Lily hoped, by saying that, she hadn't implied she didn't care.

He smiled softly, "They say time can heal most anything."

"I suppose," Lily replied with a small smile. Changing the subject, she asked in a brighter tone, "Anyway, where do you live?"

"The Morrior farm, as it's come to be called. About a mile or so from here," he nodded in the general direction. "Not much to look at, but it serves its purpose well enough."

"Oh, yes! I know about it. That must be pretty cool-- what's it like?" she asked eagerly, curious. Weren't farms supposed to be noisy? Lily wasn't sure.

Levi puzzled a bit on how to answer. He had a good life there but he was still unsatisfied. "It's your typical farm, I guess. Some acres of corn, etc, couple of cows and chickens. Maybe a litter of kittens every other year. And an annoying set of sisters on top," he added joking.

"Sounds..well..interesting. Is it loud?" What? She wanted to have a confirmation. "Is there a rooster?"

He laughed slightly, "Definitely interesting. It can be loud, and we do have a rooster, who is a source of loudness at ungodly hours of the morning. When you're by all the animals, you'll surely have a lot to listen to, but when you're out in the fields, sometimes it's seems so quiet that you're the only person on Earth," Levi explained, leaning against a peach tree.

"Wow," Lily said in awe. "Do you think I can come see it sometime?"

At first, Levi couldn't compute her response. Why would a beautiful girl surrounded by a beautiful garden everyday want to see his family's dirty farm? "Of course," he smiled, and really hoped she would stop by sometime.

"Great!" She beamed, and studied his handsome features, almost transfixed. Realizing she was staring, Lily dropped her gaze, color turning her cheeks pink.

He picked a peach blossom and placed it on top of her downturned head jokingly. For some reason, he felt entirely comfortable around Lily, and Levi couldn't help but smile.

((Sure! Where are you thinking?))

Lily curiously checked the top of her head, finding a pink peach blossom. "Oh," she said, smiling. "Well, I would put one on your head but I don't think I..." she reached up, trying to place the flower on Levi's head, "..can reach it.."

((Maybe they can run into each other somewhere in town?))

He laughed softly and bent down a bit so she could reach. "I like this height a lot better," Levi grinned, perfectly level with her. "I've never seen such pretty green eyes before."

((OHH! He could be returning from an errand, and she could just be doing randoms stuffs, and they could go see his farm!

And..they are at kissing level..*winky smirky kissy face* :P))

She gently placed the flower on Levi's head, barely noticing his flirtatious comment as Lily was once again mesmerized by his chocolate brown eyes.

Levi grinned, content to stay as they were, but he leaned forward and bumped his nose into hers, jokingly, flirtatiously, meaningfully, he didn't know, before standing full height again. "The sun's getting low," he said regretfully, "I have to go." His mind reeled, I just Eskimo kissed her.., and blushed slightly.

After that almost kiss-- was it an almost kiss? -- Lily was more than slightly stunned and pleased and disappointed. She took a step back from Levi, blushing hard. She blushed even harder at the sight of Levi's blush, and nodded to his words. "I suppose so.."

He tried to grin, and sort of did, but it wasn't the same as before, it was different now that his heart was pattering in funny ways. "Until we see again," Levi said, hoping he didn't sound breathless as he gave a small bow. "Adieu, Lily," he said softly, trying to remember precisely and exactly how she looked right then and there, before he turned to walk in the direction of the farm.

As Levi stepped away, Lily was sure her face was as red as a ripe tomato. She observed that the flower she had placed on Levi's head was gone, and noticed it lying on the ground a few feet away. She scooped it up, still blushing from the memory.
