Please post a comment below to nominate a book for the group to read for October 2016.

Please use the "add book/author" link just above the comment box to insert a link to the Goodreads book page for the book you are nominating, so other members can more easily assess it.

You may nominate a book which has been suggested previously and did not win. You may nominate more than one book, but we may not include all of your nominations.

Please do not nominate a book which is unlikely to be available to all members, such as one which was just published within the last three months or which is only available on Kindle.

Nominations will close on August 22 or when we have about 10 good nominations, whichever occurs first.

Alfred,
I believe our group read Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void about five years ago.

We have not read the other three books that you mention.

Ankit,
Forces of Nature looks like a good book. Unfortunately, it was just published less than two months ago. Why don't you wait a couple of months, and nominate it later.
Thanks!

Domantė: The book Power, Sex, Suicide: Mitochondria and the Meaning of Life is a very good book! We already read it as a book-of-the-month back in 2012. Take a look at our discussions here

Talha,
I really enjoyed the book The Epigenetics Revolution; it is an excellent book. (I gave it 5 stars!) We already read that book during 2014. You can read our discussions here.

Going back in time is sometimes helpful to understand where we are today. Ouspensky is one of these gifted individuals that could connect the dots between many issues of his time and make sense of it all. I can’t say more - I’m still in the middle of it. True or less true – this reading nonetheless takes you in the reasoning processes of a Russian mind at its best.

Anna, our group read the book The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer back in 2012. We had a lot of discussion about the book, which you can find here.

Jean, I'm not including this book because it doesn't appear to be widely available. There is no e-book edition, no audiobook, my library doesn't carry it. Even Amazon only has a few copies and they're very expensive.
