The part with Lightbringer sounded really beautiful.
I had a great mental image of the reflection of color on the wall.

Inside his cage, Mance Rayder clawed at the noose about his neck with bound hands and screamed incoherently of treachery and witchery, denying his kingship, denying his people, denying his name. denying all that he had ever been. He shrieked for mercy and cursed the red woman and began to laugh hysterically.

pfff If that's not the most out-of-character thing any characters in this universe ever did, I don't know what is. Of course there's something behind Mance's death. Mark my word for it.

Mance's death was creepy, disgusting, and sad. I can't imagine being burned to death. Smell must have been gross. *gag* I was thinking about the Salem witch trials. hmmmm.

Jon needs some more respect from his men. Not even his friends respect him. They think it is a game.

My question is did Jon slip into Ghost for a second? He said he tasted blood. Is that what happened?

OH! my other question do you think the Three Eyed Raven is watching Jon through Mormont's raven?

"The lion in King's Landing is a cub, and the Iron Throne has been known to cut grown men to ribbons."

Brianna (bebecburt) | 562 comments Alex- definitely a possibility! There is definitely something different about Mormont's raven.

What I'm thinking about as I read this chapter: how come he can write Melisandre so well? She is a woman? Dany falls short of what she should be and we shrug it off that he doesn't write female characters as well but creepy Melisandre is written well.

Well spotted! You've probably finished the book by now, so you know what happens, but I so did not see that coming the first time I read it. It seemed kind of obvious this time, though, so I'm surprised I didn't have a clue the first time. I must have not been paying attention at all!

I think so. Or their senses just kind of... merged. I think this has happened with Bran too (sensing the same things as Summer, even though he's still in his own skin).

Hm, I hadn't thought about that before. I had this theory that Mormont was half warg and that some of him is in the raven. Or not. But there's definitely something going on.

Btw, Jon has both a direwolf and a raven now. Odin references much? lol

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I did notice something odd about Mance's death - I think he said at one point "I'm not..." before his speech was cut off. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming chapters.

I also have noticed that Mormont's raven is becoming a minor character somewhat - I hadn't considered a connection with the 3-eyed crow however. Interesting. Also, I think "Mormont's Raven" would be a great name for a band.
