Please post your general questions about the Fall 2016 Challenge here. Specific questions about individual tasks should be posted in the Help Threads for those tasks.

Maya (ferafaces) | 356 comments This season, I'm planning on reading Anne of Green Gables, and I want to claim a GO ticket for it. The edition I'm reading, however, does not link to the original edition that shows the publication year of 1908. Should I include the link to the original edition in my post, or am I not able to claim that GO ticket?

You can ask in the Anyone with Librarian Status to have the record updated.

Maya (ferafaces) | 356 comments I'm wanting to use The Lost City of Faar, and it doesn't have childrens/kids MPG tag. However, it doesn't meet the AR book requirements (still shows up on there). I'm guessing I won't be able to use it, but I just wanted to check.

If childrens/kids doesn't show up on review, it won't come up. But, I looked at the genres not on the main page, and there are a number of variations on childrens and only 4 main page genres currently showing. Because of this, you are running quite a risk of posting it and having childrens show up at the time of review.

Using kids books that don't meet the SRC requirements is always a risky proposition.

I think they're both the same book, Jayme.

The "AKA" means that it was also published under that title. It's one book.

Group Reads comments should be posted in the book's discussions thread listed in the link. (Not in the help thread)

For what purpose? If you want to post a review for the Best Review contest for Fall, go here: Best Review Contest.

If you want to post a comment about one of the Group Reads, go here and choose the thread for the book you read: Group Reads folder.

There is a Reviews folder, but it is not related to the challenge. It is just there for you to share reviews.

NOT for tasks, but just to share ... some people post reviews in the What Are You Currently Reading thread.

message 23: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (balletbookworm) | 915 comments Hello, I was wondering if books in the Best American Infographics series could be claimed for points (I didn't remember them coming up elsewhere)? They fall under the category of Art books, and do have written components (it takes time to read all the words and how the graphics are laid out - so to me they read like graphic novels) but I was hoping to get an opinion from a moderator before I picked out a task.

The two entries in the series I am specifically wondering about (for this season's challenge) would be The Best American Infographics 2015 and The Best American Infographics 2016 Thanks! :)

message 24: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments i'm guessing it would probably fall under this rule:

"Coffee table", Art books, and other books consisting primarily of images or photographs without a substantial written component (essays, criticism, etc.) may not be be claimed for points. These books may often have the genre Art or Humor.

Dee is correct. Books consisting primarily of images or photographs without a substantial written component (essays, criticism, etc.) may not be be claimed for points.

If those books contain commentary or analysis they might work. A collection of infographics would probably not.

It was the "substantial" bit that I was noodling over. Each infographic is accompanied with a few paragraphs explaining methodology or reasons for artistic choices, etc., and none of the infographics make sense if you take out their words but that together is probably not enough for SRC tasks. Which is why I thought I'd check first. ;) Thanks!

message 27: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (balletbookworm) | 915 comments I can't find it in the Rules posting, but if we read a Choose-Your-Own Adventure-style book, we need to read ALL the choices in order to claim it for points, correct?

message 28: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 923 comments Yep, you need to read it completely. :)

message 30: by Pia (new)

Pia Hi,
I just updated my computer and lost information.
Can anybody help me? I need the code to post links here on Goodreads.
What I mean is how to post the link to a message where a book is approved
I've searched everywhere and I can't find it, and I remember one of the mods gave it to me when I first started the challenge, about 2 years ago.

Thanks!

Melissa (balletbookworm) | 915 comments This is the first time I've run into this, and I can't remember if it's been addressed before....

When sourcing a page length for audio or ebooks, do we use the most popular MM or TP regardless of language? Or do we match the language?

message 36: by Bridgett (new)

Bridgett (brikie) | 5 comments My question is about omnibus editions. I read the rules and I understand that I may read the individual portions of the omnibus separately, as long as it meets the omnibus rules.

However, I want to confirm that I can read the entire omnibus edition and count it as a single book for a task.

I am hoping to read Sand Omnibus for task 20.5, option 3. If the cover meets the task requirements, would the omnibus edition be acceptable?

Yes, you may use an omnibus as a single book.

The 15 point tasks always have 2 two book tasks and 2 one or two book tasks. It allows for great multiple book ideas from the ideas thread to be used.
