That's why I hate reading series that aren't finished yet. You have such a long wait between books.

Who knows, but it's interesting to think about! What do you guys think?

I love her channel too and same, I think she's onto something too. Same here, I'm so excited for both TLH and TDA. I can't wait to find out if our theories are correct... just another 5 months...

Yeah I'm not happy about Emmark and the "why lie" made me feel uneasy :/ I really hope it doesn't turn into a love triangle, I hope it's all just for the show and nothing more. But from some teasers from LoS it seems like Emma and Julian do have some romantic moments together so I'm hoping Emmark won't last for long.
Personally, I don't entirely believe the Parabatai curse. I think it does make shadowhunters powerful if they have a very strong connection with each other such as the love Julian and Emma share but I don't think it makes you evil and causes death. I think the clave invented that part to scare Parabatai so that they don't gain too much power because the Clave wants to maintain their power. What do you think?

I actually don't think I've of thought about your whole idea of the clave making the becoming-evil-thing up before. But the more I think about the more it makes complete sense. The clave hates anyone to have more power than them and are so rigid in the ways, they would hate for shadowhunters to basically have warlock abilities and the fact that they wouldn't be able to control them could possibly push them to lie about it. And let's be honest, the clave has done a whole lot worst than lie. But that also arises the question of what excatly can parabatai who fall in live do, how powerful are they really ? I really want to see the first parabatai that fell in love, and what happened to them.

Couldn't agree more about what you said about Emma, Mark and Julian. I don't think Emma will develop romantic feelings for Mark either and I don't think Julian will for anyone else either (apparently he's going to have a girlfriend in LoS. Apparently some teasers mentioned it but I didn't want to read them to avoid being spoiled).
I totally agree with you! I'm really curious about this too and I hope we get the answers in LoS or QoAaD.
Cassandra Clare revealed some info in a post on her Tumblr page about what happened to some parabatai that fell in love:
Let’s just say it happened once, and it went very badly. Any further explanation will have to wait for Dark Artifices.
This makes me even more curious, I'm dying to know!!
original post here
Also, have you heard the theories about The Wicked Powers? Cassie said TDA leads into TWP. People are saying that "The Wicked Powers" is probably referring to the Clave. The main characters of TWP are very likely going to be Ty and Kit. My mind is running through so many thoughts about what TWP could be about and what that would mean would happen in TDA. Maybe TWP is an uprising against the Clave? Okay so apparently the plot of The Wicked Powers is fixing the Clave or that it can't be fixed??? I'm not sure (see 14:27 of the interview I linked at the end where Clare mentions it). TDA will end sort of unresolved. Clare did mention that TDA will be very painful because of this >.< (13:23 of interview linked below)
Also, apparently there will be a twist at the end of LoS that will be really brutal :/ :O
interview where she mentioned it here
We're going to have to wait a whole year to read QoAaD (actually maybe 2 years because Goodreads says it'll be published in 2019!!) after that, it's going to kill us I hope the ending's not too bad. I'm kind of conflicted between devouring LoS as soon as it's released, and waiting until near the release of QoAaD or the first book in TLH to read it. I don't think I can wait that long though. I hope Clare doesn't torture us and break our hearts too much >.<

Is it bad that I want Julian to have a girlfriend? Like he doesn't develop any feelings for her, but as a way to counteract the whole Mark and Emma dating thing. I just think it would everything super angsty and would be probably break my heart but just gahh! I want to see everyone's reactions and how Julian is with his girlfriend. Am I making any sense? My poor babies and everything but it would be super interesting and just... I'll stop now :D I'm also really glad that will get to find out what happened to the first parabatai that fell in love, that's definitely going to be interesting knowing Cassie Clare.
I've heard stuff about The Wicked Powers, its supposed to be the last installment in the Shadowhunter Chronicles, and really wrap everything up. As you said the main characters are supposed to be from TDA, my money is on Ty and Kit, so is everyone elses or if its very much in the future than maybe Tessa and Jem's kids?? But that's a long shot. A verrrryy long shot. I also saw that interview that Emma from emmabooks did with Cassie :) (Again big fan of her channel and especially her passion for all things Shadowhunter!) From everything that I've read and heard about TWP, my theories is that something big is going to go down, Cassie has said it herself, something that will change the entire structure of the Clave and thus the Shadow World, Shadowhunters etc. A war maybe? I don't know but whatever it is it will be BIG. Cos I honestly don't think that the Shadowhunter Chronicles can be truly wrapped up without the Clave having some big changes, cos they are very messed up, like all governments are if we are being honest. What Cassie said in Emma's interview makes be super nervous for whatever will be going down at the end of TDA :/ and also makes me want it NOW!
But you're right, we are going to have to wait a looongg time, LoS next yr than the first book of TLH in 2018 and then the last book of TDA in 2019, or at least that's my current knowledge of when the books are coming out. I always have the same dilemma, speed though it and have the agonising pain of waiting or wait even longer for the rest of the series to be out and binge it?? But at the same time, the chances of being spoiled are raised and Cassie's books are best read in publication order as you get the whole interweaving plots.
I just really want them all to be okay at the end of it, you know? I doubt it but c'mon Julian has had so much happen to him. GAH!!

I think Julian does have the right to have a girlfriend if Emma and Mark are dating but at the same time I hate seeing Emma and Julian apart and in such pain.
ooo interesting theory on Jem and Tessa's kids playing a part in TWP. I was honestly dying for Jem and Tessa to have kids since CoHF idk why but I want them to have descendants. I'd love to see them in TWP especially since it'll be the last Shadowhunter series. As much as people complain about how Clare never stops releasing Shadowhunter books, I'm going to be really sad when The Shadowhunter Chronicles ends. The characters and their stories have really grown on me.
Anyway, yeah I agree, I think a war will go down or something else big. Same here I'm really nervous about how TDA will end. Totally agree. True that, I think we'll have to endure and read everything in publication order. I think I can keep myself occupied with the Shadowhunters TV show while waiting. I just want to be constantly immersed in the shadow world. Also, season 2 is definitely going to be way better than season 1 so I'm really excited. Do you watch the show? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Will you be watching season 2?
Ever since I entered the Shadow world, I've been finding it really hard to read books outside of the shadow world. Cassie just put me in this huge reading slump and all I can do is wait for the next book to be released... (; へ:)
Literally the only other thing I can manage to read right now is Harry Potter. I have no motivation to read anything else.
Oh well, nevertheless I'm really grateful these books are in my life.
I'm sure everything will be not okay but awesome in the end because face it, if it was otherwise we would all kill Clare XD and anyway she has to wrap it up the entire Shadowhunter Chronicles beautifully and satisfyingly just like in Clockwork Princess. Well, the ending of The Shadowhunter Chronicles is still a long way away. For now, we worry about Emma and Julian and the rest of the TDA gang.

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING YOUR ARE SAYING. Just the idea that the Shadowhunter Chronicles has a "finale" of sorts makes me sad :( Your right, people always go on and on about Cassie Clare writing too many shadowhunter books, my response? DON'T READ IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO. Though I love them and think you should and read all the series, you can read one series and not have to read the other, that's what I love, you don't have to read every single book to understand everything, each series can be read on its own. Don't understand why anyone could do that, buts that's just my very obviously biased opinion cos I love ALL her books. I completely get the whole in a cassie-induced-book-slump. I read the Infernal Devices in one week, I just binged the series so when I finished it, I was like WHAT, HUH? REAL PEOPLE, REAL LIFE? I had City of Heavenly Fire to read and then I just got into the biggest reading slump. You just have to push through and I recommend reading fluffy contemporaries they're good when you are in a slump :)
Yes, I've seen the show. My opinions???.... Look I don't hate it, I understand that they are taking a different route with the story and all that jazz. I wished they wouldn't but they are so there's nothing I can do. The first half of season 1 was a bit messy, the acting not so good but I do love Matt as Alec, Alberto as Simon and later in the season Emeraude as Isabelle, also the actor for Valentine is good. The acting improves as the season went on so I'm hoping for season 2 to be better, now that they know their characters. I hope the time they've taken to make season 2 improves the writing and overall direction of the show. So I'll definitely be watching and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good season even if it doesn't follow the books, but hopefully it stays true to the characters.
And I hear you, these books break your heart but they are just so... AMAZING!!

IKR!! I don't understand why people get themselves into things that annoy them and then complain about it as if the whole world is here to please everyone. Like if it annoys you, just ignore it.
I totally get what you mean about having a huge TID (and CoHF)-induced slump. TID was the first shadowhunter series I ever read and I absolutely fell in love with it and it then motivated me to read The Mortal Instruments and Lady Midnight and all the other Shadowhunters series. And now I'm stuck here waiting on the next shadowhunter book because I've already read all the others. The other day I went to the beach and it wasn't hard deciding which book I should take with me -- Lady Midnight!! -- and I found myself rereading the whole book XD
Thanks for the slump tips, I think I'll pick up a contemporary soon, I haven't read one in ages anyway. Any recommendations?
Totally agree about the show!! I think Simon's the best character on the show so far. And Alec and Izzy are amazing too and also, Valentine. Also, Sebastian's going to appear in 2B so I'm really excited but also quite nervous about that. I really hope they nail his character.
Yeah, it looks like season 2 is going to be much better. They made a lot of changes with practically everything in the show so I hope it's for the better. Have you seen the new trailers/promos and sneak peaks? What do you think? link to their youtube channel here in case you haven't seen them yet
Also, have you seen this review of 2x01? It looks like it's going to be amazing:
2x01 review

Haha, there's nothing wrong in rereading! Plus, beaches are quite prominent in Lady Midnight, so its a good choice :D And I completely understand the need for more of her books, have you read Tales from Shadowhunter Academy and the Bane Chronicles? They are novella bind ups and are a MUST if love you Shadowhunters!
Contemporary recommendations? Ooo, the only one that I think of right now that I absolutely loved would be Fangirl by Rainbow Rowel. See with a contemporary book its always about what you want from it, do you want a book for pure entertainment, to get to you out of reading slump or for a really good deep read? Like I've read some that are full of cliches and I've not even cared cos I just want a fun quick read to help me get through exams or something. But Fangirl was awesome, so if you haven't read it I would recommend doing so :)
So I just read the review for 2xO1 and WOAH!! Sounds like they completely revamped the entire thing, I'm feeling alot more hopeful now. I think it was really what they needed, to take time reevaluate everything, the direction of the show, characters, cinematography, special effects and then make it just BETTER! This actually makes me excited for January when it airs :)
I also looked through the clips (thanks for the link!) and that also looks promising, all there for us to do is to wait and see how it all turns out and hope for the best!.

Yep I've read both TBC and TftSA and loved them both, they were amazing!! I've also got a copy of An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld which I flip through from time to time and love. The Codex was good too. Also, have you heard about the new Magnus Bane trilogy? Will you be reading it? Also, who's your favourite character/s from the Shadowhunter Chronicles?
Cool, I picked up Fangirl a while back but never got around to properly reading it. I think I'll give it a try then. Interesting, I didn't know about all those categories for contemporary. Honestly I think I'd like a bit of all 3 of those categories you listed for contemporary. Are there any books that fit into all 3? Honestly, I think I need to catch up on reading so many contemporaries, I haven't read a proper contemporary novel in years!
Ikr the review of 2x01 really got me pumped for season 2, it looks like it's going to surpass our expectations!!

Ooo, I still haven't gotten around to buying An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld, really want it though but shipping is crazy! I have a copy of the Codex but still haven't gotten around to reading it, I should probably get on to that before the new year. Ah yes, I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE NEW MAGNUS BANE TRILOGY!!! I love Magnus so I will be devouring it, and it will be also interesting to see how it is, as its co written and an adult series rather than young adult. Again don't care what anyone says, if she writes I'm going to read :D
Ahhh, favourite characters from the Shadowhunter Chronicles? Can I say all? Its really hard, I don't know who to say, okay I'll give it a shot: Julian, Will, Jem, Izzy, Tessa, Magnus, Alec (though I only started loving his character later), Simon (his character growth is on of my all time favourite character arcs!), and... I love Clary, Jace and Emma but Idk if I would say favourites??? THIS IS REALLY HARD! Who are your favourites?
Oh I don't know if that's a real category thing for contemporary books that's just how sort them in my mind! :D A book in all 3, hmmm? I did love Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, though I don't think I would say it is a fluffy book but its great, really great! I feel like I suck at recommendations, cos I don't really know a book that has all 3. Sorry! If you like classics or regency/Victorian era books (I love them) I would say Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I know, I sound like a cliche but honestly I loved it so I hope you do to! And I feel you as well there are alot of contemporaries that have been popular that I haven't read like the rest of Rainbow Rowels books, Stephanie Perkins etc. We'll get there one day.

You definitely need to get a copy of the illustrated history, the artworks are soooo beautiful i'm in love with Cassandra Jean's art and Cassandra Clare's descriptions are the best. I got my copy from Dymocks. I'd been wanting it for really long but i wasn't sure about buying it online. Anyway so one day I was browsing the YA section of my local Dymocks store and THERE IT WAS so i immediately grabbed it and headed to the counter XD
Me too, I'm so excited for the Magnus trilogy!! And yeah I like that its going to be adult. True that, I'll read whatever she writes too.
ikr i totally get you about the characters -- theyre all so amazing!! Julian and Simon are equal first as my favourite character. I love Emma, Cristina, Jem, Will, Tessa, Clary, Jace, Izzy, Alec, Magnus. Yeah at first I didn't really understand why so many people liked Alec. I mean i didnt hate him he just kind of felt like a bit of a stranger to me while reading the series but he did grow on me too later on. Actually, yeah I love them all. Also even the villains are hard to hate they're such amazing characters.
Hmm, I heard about Me and Earl and the Dying Girl but never really got around to reading it i think I just assumed at the time that it would be similar to TFIOS and I was looking for other kinds of books. But the trailer for the movie seemed interesting. Have you seen the movie? if so, what do you think of it?
Omg I loved Pride and Prejudice!!! I had to read it for school and I really enjoyed it. Have you seen the movie (2005 version with Keira Knightley)? I am so in love with it its just so beautiful.
True, true. Colleen Hoover also seems to be pretty popular. I haven't read Me Before You either and practically everyone's read that (I haven't watched the movie either). I have lots of classics that I havent read yet, maybe I should get around to reading them too. I've kinda been too focused on fantasy for the past few years of my life lol. I definitely want to read more contemporary and I also want to get into adult books too. What are your fave books of 2016 (as in of those you've read in 2016)? I've loved practically every book I've read this year so luckily it's been a good year for me. what about you?

That's awesome, I will definitely checking my Dymocks alot more regularly! I love Cassandra Jeans art, she's so talented and her art just fits with the world so well. And yes, the villains are great. The best villains are those that are dynamic, they have depth and purpose behind their evil, they're not just mindless killing machines and I feel like Cassie Clare does it right. Yes! I'm glad you feel me on the whole Alec subject. Like book 1, yeah he was a bit not nice, to put it simply, to Clary, I understand why and everything but it didn't make me like him. But cos I loved Magnus I was like okay as long as you make Mangus happy that's good for me, and then in CoLs when he did what he did, gah that did not make me like him. But in CoHF he did redeem himself, so I was like okay you're not that bad. Afterwards I started to realise what he meant to Izzy and Jace, sometimes I feel like people focus alot on his relationship with Magnus and forget his other important relationships so when I recognised those I really felt like it was only then that I began to understand his character, the love that was in him and how he was such a good brother. And then I read the Bane Chronicles and really saw how Magnus really saw him and then it was like BAM, I LOVE YOU ALEC! I just felt like I understood him better, and I realsied how good and kind he is and gaaahhh, yeah that's how I came to love him. I also love in Tales of Shadowhunter Academy how he's confident in himself but not like Jace confident not cocky but just in a quiet way that is Alec confidence. ALL the love for him :)
I can see why you would think that Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is similar to TFIOS but hear my out. Me and Earl and the Dying has the girl has cancer premise and is dying (hence the title) but where TIFIOS takes it to a love story Me and Earl and the Dying girl doesn't and ITS AMAZING! The story is funny and raw and honest. And sometimes you want to kill the main character Greg for being annoying at times, but there is this honesty to it and its just a really worth while read. My opinion of course, but if you do get around to it let me know what you think. Oh and the movie was GREAT! The author wrote the screenplay and it was so good!
GAH I'M SO GLAD YOU LOVE PRIDE AND PREJUDICE!! One of my all time favourite books, and it has my beloved OTP, LOVE THEM TO BITS!! I really liked the 2005 movie, it is visually stunning but I'd have to say that the BBC version with Colin Firth is so true to the characters and Jane Austen's wit and humor and everything, when you watch it you finally get why everyone loves him. SO GOOD, have you seen it? What are your thoughts?
Ooo yes I haven't read Collen Hoover either, she's supposed to be pretty good as well. I read Me Before You, I didn't love it or hate it. It's quite a controversial read with the whole thing about its representation of disability and I get that but aside from that its okay not amazing but not terrible. A lot of people loved it so you may to, you never know. The movie was pretty good, a good adaptation and it had Sam Claflin so... :)
There are alot of classics that I want to get around to as well, one day I say, one day. Haha, but fantasy is awesome!
Favourite book of 2016? You ask tough questions :) I would say all the novellas from the Tales of Shadowhunter Academy and Lady Midnight, of course. I also finished the Bane Chronicles in January so that counts for 2016. I loved the Outsiders, even though I initially only gave it 4 stars I feel like I should change it cos when I think about it I just gush! Fangirl, Count Me the Stars (its a book of poetry) and The Importance of Being Earnest. I would have to say those, there are other that I liked and really enjoyed but these would probably have to be my favourite reads of 2016. I think I had a good reading year, and there is still time left! So I'm going to try to squeeze in a few more! I'm glad you had a good reading year, what were your top books?

Couldn't agree more!
Yeah, Alec definitely redeemed himself in CoHF in my eyes and reading about him in TftSA as well just made me love him so much. Yeah, he's such an amazing character.
Wow, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl sounds AWESOME! I think I'll pick up a copy the next time I visit the library -- I hope they have a copy :/
I've watched the first episode of the BBC version and I can totally see what you mean in it being very true to the books. I did really like it but I think my laziness overcame me and I eventually forgot about finishing the series. Now that you've reminded me, I might continue watching it.
Interesting, I kind of assumed everyone loved Me Before You because I heard everyone raving about it around about the time of the movie's release. It's not the type of thing I'd normally go for but I might give it a try. I think I remember watching like 10 minutes of the movie but I can't remember how I felt about it. Yeah, Sam Claflin is gorgeous!! I remember finding out who was cast as Finnick for the Hunger Games and I was swooning (that was when I discovered him).
Talking about bookish movies, have you seen Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? If so, what are your thoughts? I loved it, it was more darker than I expected it to be but in a weirdly satisfying way... I don't know how to explain it.
True, fantasy is probably my favourite genre. That reminds me, I need to catch up with all these fantasy series that are really popular, e.g. Throne of Glass, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Percy Jackson, Rick Riordan's other books, and others I forgot now. Have you read any of these books? If so, what are your thoughts on them? Are they as good as they say they are?
Awesome! I've been wanting to read The Outsiders for a while, I was in a Dymocks store once and I spent an hour standing there reading it and I didn't even realise. I got about a third of the way through. That's great, looks like you found lots of awesome books. I think my favourites this year were obviously Lady Midnight, Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, The Bane Chronicles, Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Princess, the entire Mortal Instruments series, Pride and Prejudice. I'm actually shocked at the amount of non-fiction books I managed to get through this year (I rarely ever do read non-fiction). The Lost Writings of Wu-Hsin: Pointers to Non-Duality in Five Volumes was AMAZING. I think they were my absolute favourites of the year.
So are there any books you're highly anticipating for 2017? Right now, the only book I know of that will be published in 2017 that I'm really really excited about is LoS.

I'm glad you will be picking up Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and finishing the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, hope both don't disappoint! Also if you like period drama stuff check out the tv show Victoria, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!
Yeah, alot of people loved Me Before You, I read it because of all the buzz about it on Booktube. But you know everyone has different opinions.
Yes! I loved Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them. You're right it has a darker tone to it and I think that's what makes it exciting. I love Newt, he's adorable and I'm super happy we are getting some awesome Hufflepuff characters that are leads in a story! I'm a Hufflepuff myself so :D I'm really interested on where the story is going to go from here, cos now we know that its definitely going to be about Grindelwald and his power and what he did, so we will probably get to see a young Dumbledore. But I want to know how Newt's story is going to intertwine with Grindelwald, as Newt is the main character so its going to follow him. It's so weird watching a movie set in the Wizarding world and have no idea what's going to happen. There is nothing we can read besides the released screenplay, no material, as it a movie series not a book to movie adaption. But I'm really happy that J.K Rowling wrote the screenplay, it feels like her stuff.
I'm on the same boat with you, I still haven't' gotten around to reading those books. I've read the first 3 books of the Percy Jackson and really liked them I just never got around to finishing the series, I REALLY WANT TO tho, so hopefully soon. And Sarah J Mass' books are very much loved so I want to check those out as well.
Haha, its funny when you get lost in a book and then realise you're actually in a public setting :) The Outsiders is also super short, (but it packs an emotional punch) so its a quick read.
All your favourites this year are like my all time favourite books :D Sounds like you had a great reading year. That's awesome that you've read some non-fiction, I don't normally read them but alot people say that some non-fiction books can be really good. What was the The Lost Writings of Wu-Hsin: Pointers to Non-Duality in Five Volumes about?
Same, the only book that I can think of being released next yr is LoS, and I am SUPER EXCITED FOR THAT!! I don't think there are any others that know or if its part of a series, that I've caught up on.

I can't wait! Ooo awesome, I heard about Victoria. I've been trying to find new shows to watch and now that you mentioned how awesome it is I think I'll start watching it :D
I love Newt too!! And omg I'm a Hufflepuff too!! :D I heard that as the series progresses the main/focus character is not going to be Newt. But he's still going to play a big role in the films. It's all going to lead to the battle between Grindlewald and Dumbledore in 1945. I think the series is going to go more into the concept of obscurials and then to Araiana Dumbledore (who I assume is an obscurial) and that's how they're going to lead on to the final battle of Dumbledore vs. Grindlewald. But yeah, you're right, it's interesting not knowing exactly where/how things will go in this series. True that, I could definitely feel JK's touch in it.
Hmm, I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about Percy Jackson. I enjoyed the movies although apparently the book fans think the movies are crap in comparison to the books. Idk but I'm definitely going to give Percy Jackson a try, I've wanted to for a while. So you haven't read Sarah J Maas' books either? Phew, I thought I was the only one! I'm going to be giving them a try as well soon, hopefully they're as good as they say they are.
What are your favourite book to movie adaptations? I have so many including The Book Theif, Life of Pi, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Anne of Green Gables, ummm I'm pretty sure there's heaps more but I can't remember now. What are your favourites?
Yeah it happens to me a lot in libraries and bookstores. Awesome, I saw a bit of the movie The Outsiders too and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I seem to have a habit of getting distracted, so I think I got distracted halfway and just forgot about it :/ But I'll definitely be watching it after I read the book. have you seem the movie? If so, what are your thoughts?
Awesome!! :D The Lost Writings of Wu-Hsin: Pointers to Nonduality in Five Volumes is basically philosophy on non-duality (all is one) in the form of poems. While I'm not entirely sure about the credibility of the work as it's sources are kind of ambiguous, what's important is the ideas being expressed. The words spoke to my soul when I read them, I don't know how to explain it. The quotes on the internet don't do it justice. I don't have a copy of it on me now so I can't share any quotes from it. Ooo that reminds me, I also practically read all of Rumi's quotes this year (although not in book form) and I am IN LOVE with all of his quotes he is my favourite poet of all time.
Yeah I normally find it very hard to get into non-fiction books. I just find that they drag on too much and I lose interest very quickly. I find the internet satisfies me more when it comes to learning about non-fiction topics, but the non-fiction books I did read this year were pretty good.
Ugh ikr I'm so excited for LoS too!! I sure hope 2017 is going to be a good book year if that makes sense (and a good year as a whole hopefully to make up for the mess of 2016).

Yah, I'm super happy you will be watching Victoria, its just the best :D And hello fellow Hufflepuff! We are like the best hogwarts house, if we are going to be honest :) Ooo, the Fantastic Beasts plot sounds super interesting. I'm really excited/glad that we get to explore Grindelwald's and Dumbledore's past, it was something I always wanted to know more about. I also assumed that Araiana Dumbledore was an obscurial and it makes me surprised that Harry didn't become one. He was abused and didn't know about his abilities and blamed for when everything went wrong. My sister said that perhaps it was because Harry didn't know that he was a wizard so he didn't know what he was repressing exactly and therefore didn't become an obscurial, which I think makes sense.
I watched both of the Percy Jackson films before I read the first 3 books and I liked them but when you read the books they are terrible, mainly because PERCY AND HIS FRIENDS ARE 12!!! The movies aged them up to 16, like WHAT??? WHY???? Haha, no you're not the only one, soo many people have read her books and I'm here like ????
Ooo, favoutite book to movie adaptions? I would agree with you and say Harry Potter, even if movie 6 left out so much!! I still love all of them because well childhood and how can you not love them? OH MY GOD HAVE YOU READ AND WATCHED ANNE OF GREEN GABLES???? The Anne of Green Gables series is one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE SERIES!! Anne and Gilbert were the couple I was shipping before I even knew what shipping was, they are like my ultimate OTP :D So yes I love the adaption with Megan Follows as Anne, her portrayal of Anne was AMAZING!! For me it was like Anne literally popped out of the book and went on screen. The 2nd movie, Anne of Green Gables the sequel was okay, they combined the 2nd, 3rd and 4th book together and had to sacrifice some plot points and they changed some stuff that irked me but overall I've seen it like ALOT of times so I do really like it. However Anne of Green Gables the continuing story was TERRIBLE! Nothing from the books whatsoever, everything of that movie is made up, and it annoyed me so much because the last couple of books of the Anne series (there are 8) have the children and the 8th book is during WW1 and Anne's youngest daughter is the main character of it. They had so much material why didn't they use it??? Argh!! I love the Hunger Game movies, they were great book to movie adaptions. I have't read or seen Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children or Life of Pi, how are they? I've heard mix opinions on the movie of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, but you liked it? My other favourite book to movie adaptions would be Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and others that I am also blanking out on :/ I absolutely adore the Book Thief, one of my all time favourite books, the movie was good but I felt like it didn't have as an emotional impact on me as the book did, I LOVE Zusak's writing!
Haha, yeah I thought the Outsiders movie was really good, it followed the plot really well and the actors were ALL great for their characters. It would probably be on my list as best book to movie adaptions :)
The Lost Writings of Wu-Hsin: Pointers to Nonduality in Five Volumes sounds super interesting, especially as it's written in poems. From the end of last yr and this yr I've been interested in poetry, old and new, so I will definitely be checking that out. Poetry is such a powerful way to express ideas. Have you heard of the booktuber Ariel Bisset? I LOVE her channel and she's been reading and recommending poetry alot this yr and it makes me really pumped to read more poetry. I don't think I've heard of Rumi before, he's a poet? Old or new?
I'm hoping in 2017 to catch up on all the series I want to and yeah let's hope next yr is a better yr for humanity.

Awesome, I'm so excited to start watching it!! :D Hufflepuffs unite!! Hufflepuff is totally the best house and is completely underrated. I have Ravenclaw characteristics as well e.g. love learning for the sake of learning, aim to gain as much wisdom as possible, but I would choose Hufflepuff over Ravenclaw any day (not to say Ravenclaw is bad, it's just that I align more with Hufflepuff's values and just absolutely love Hufflepuff!)
Same here, I'm so excited about the plot for Fantastic Beasts but it leads me to question what the other movies will be called. We're going to be focusing on obscurials from now on... right? Will they call a future movie Dangerous Obscurus and How to Destroy Them? XD Hmm... it's interesting to think about.
I think you're right about Harry and also, he sort of accepted and utilised/embraced his magical abilities -- remember when he freed that snake from its enclosure? And he even spoke to it too!
Hmm yeah I get what you mean about Percy Jackson. It's really annoying when films make unnecessary changes in book-to-movie adaptations. I'm excited to start reading the books, seems like they are much better than the movies (they usually are anyway).
Ooo movie 6 of Harry Potter left out a lot?? I actually haven't read the last 2 Harry Potter books yet (for the past few years I've been
reading the HP books for the first time) even though I've seen all of the movies so many times I've practically memorised every line (and my memory is pretty bad so that's saying something). The last movie never fails to make me cry I'm usually almost non-stop crying during the movie it's just so emotional!! I'm really excited to read Deathly Hallows now!!
Omg yesss I love Anne of Green Gables!! It's one of my favourite "chick flicks"?? I don't know any other way to describe it because it's a movie series I loved watching with my mum. I totally shipped Anne and Gilbert hardcore too. XD The movies are so long but I love them! I heard about the continuing story but I haven't watched it because they never put it on TV during Anne of Green Gables marathons. Hmm, that's a bummer that it was terrible. I've got the first 2 books in the Anne of Green Gables series but haven't read them yet because of how huge my TBR list is. But I definitely want to read them soon.
I honestly think the Miss Peregrine's movie was better than the book. The book was a little slow at points but the movie made up for that and the changes were good. Life of Pi is MESMERISING, I have no other word to explain it. The movie is literally a spiritual and survival journey and it will take you on a spiritual journey too as well as being an interesting adventure in itself. I've read most of the book and loved it but I didn't get to finish it because school was getting in the way so I kind of just skimmed the ending but I plan on reading it again properly one day.
Me too!! I loved the Book Theif movie! I haven't read the book yet but it's sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I can't wait to read it. From the sounds of it the book was way better than the movie, so I'm excited.
Totally agree about poetry!!! I love poetry so much. I find myself compelled to write poems every now and then too and I absolutely love reading them as well. Some of my favourite poets are Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, and Rumi. Rumi is an oldddd poet, he was born in the 1200's or something like that but I just LOVE his poetry. He is definitely my all-time favourite poet. Here's a link of some of his quotes
Yeah I'm subscribed to Ariel's channel, she has really interesting discussions about books and different ideas too. Awesome! I've been wanting to find some more good poetry too, I think I'll check out some of her recs, I haven't watched one of her videos in a while mainly because the past month's been pretty hectic for me. I finished the hsc and I was going crazy trying to decide what I want to do at uni and I think I have an idea now. I'm thinking of doing something related to design and I also want to do a course in the humanities (particularly sociology). But sadly they don't have a double degree like that so I have to choose one :/ Oh well, that's life I guess.
I agree, I really hope 2017 will be a better year for humanity. >.< I hope it's uphill from here.

Haha, it totally is! I get what you mean, I have Ravenclaw characteristics and Pottermore actually sorted me into Ravenclaw but I had taken a bunch of tests before that and they always said I was a Huffelpeuff so when Poterrmore sorted me into Ravencalw I was like no, I'm still a Hufflepuff! :)
Haha, that was also on my mind, like it's not going to be Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, so what then?? I guess we'll have to see.
I know! It irks me so much in book to movie adaptions when they make stupid super unnecessary changes, like why??? I watched all the Harry Potter movies soo many times before I read the books, and yep movie 6 does not do any justice to book 6. Book 6 is SO GOOD!! And I get the memorising thing, every time I re watch me and my sister basically speak the dialogue along with the characters we've pretty much memorised the script :) Yes, Deathly Hallows movies and the book are heartbreaking, amazing but heartbreaking.
:D :D I used to watch the Anne of Green Gables with my mum and sister when I was young. When I got older I read the books and I got my friends into both the books and movies. What are friends for if not to introduce you to great books and movies :) Anne of Green Gables is like 3 hours but I love it, so even tho its that long I've seen it sooo many times. Definitely check the books out!! THEY ARE SO GOOD!! I will warn you that the 2nd book is a verrry slow read, but then the series picks up again in the 3rd book. It's my least favourite Anne book, I actually skim read it. BUT don't let that stop you, the 1st book and all the other books are awesome. L. M. Montgomery is one of my all time favourite writers. I LOVE her writing, its so beautiful.
That's interesting, its funny when the movie is actually BETTER than the books. I definitely I want to check out the Miss Peregrine's books and movies. Life of Pi sound super interesting, I like when books or movies have that journey type feel its really nice because you go on that journey with the characters.
YES!! I love reading poetry and I have written poetry myself like the cliche of a teenager I am :) So I totally understand that need to write poetry, for me I have found that poetry is one of the most freeing forms of writing because you can literally just throw structure out the window if you want. I've heard of Emily Dickinson and really want to check her work out and I'm really interest in reading a collection of Rumi's poems. Thanks for the link!
She does! I love how Ariel's channel is quite centered around bookish discussion because those are my favourite types of videos.
Oh, wow, that's definitely a reason to be super busy! I wish you all the best with your future! Hope what you choose ends up being something you love and are passionate about. I also have an interest in sociology/psychology/anthropology. I feel like it has something to do with being a reader, because I love to observe people and understand why they are the way they are. Also the dynamics of people and how they interact with different groups. Maybe its because when we read we tend to analyse characters and their relationships, I don't know if there is any correlation but I do agree when people say that readers are empathetic people because when we read we are literally in someone else's head. Hopefully you can choose something that satisfies both of your interests :)

Same here! I was previously always sorted into Hufflepuff and then all of a sudden on the new test I was sorted into Ravenclaw and I was like whaaaat?? I actually redid the test like 4 times and got 50-50 Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. I was having a little identity crisis but eventually I realised I had Ravenclaw characteristics but still, I'm Hufflepuff at the core <3
Actually it's weird how I never considered them calling it Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them 2 lol that's definitely an option though. Anyway, I'm excited to find out what they're going to call the next movies in the franchise!
I heard Ginny was changed a lot and that movie Ginny's totally different to book Ginny. So far Ginny hasn't appeared much in the books I've read. I don't think Harry's developed feelings for her yet. He's still crushing on Cho pretty hard and I'm up to Order of the Phoenix. I forget exactly when he starts to develop feelings for Ginny. Awesome!! I'm so excited for book 6!!! :D
Awesome! My mum got me into Anne of Green Gables, she used to love it and I ended up loving it too when we watched it together. Yeah it's an awesome feeling when you share your favourite books with your friends and you can all fangirl together. Hmm, well I guess if book 3 makes up for it I'll push through the 2nd book then. Awesome, I'm so excited to start reading it! :D
Me too! Adventure books with awesome journeys have always been my favourite type of books since I was a kid. I remember my favourite series as a kid was the Ulysses Moore series even though I only read the first 2 books since they were the only ones available at my primary school's library. They were awesome adventure books. I also remember loving the Goosebumps series. I devoured the whole shelf of those books at my primary school's library as a kid. I remember sort of always knowing I wanted to be an author and as a kid I would write stories and my best friend would draw the pictures to go along with it. They were good times… I still do want to be an author but I feel like the creative energy's not with me right now, I mean I haven't properly written a story in years. Oh well, maybe one day…
Anyway, yeah you should definitely check out both the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Life of Pi movies and you can also read them too if you like. It was the movies that motivated me to read them both. I remember when my family suddenly decided to go and watch miss peregrine's home for peculiar children because I'd been meaning to watch it when it came out, I was aggressively trying to finish the book (I only had 20 pages left!) while in the car to the cinema XD Well, I didn't end up finishing it but I liked the movie ending better so I didn't miss out on anything or get spoiled.
Ahaha don't worry I've looked back on some of my poetry too and I can't help but cringe XD Some of my classmates of my English class have joked that I'm "E.D. reincarnated" (E.D. aka Emily Dickinson) because coincidentally we have the same initials I'm really poetic in the way I write sometimes XD I've written so many poems I could practically turn them into a book by now. Although they need some serious editing >.<
I totally agree about poetry, that's why I love it! And yeah you should definitely check out Rumi and Emily Dickinson. No worries! :) Do you have any favourite poets? Or any new poets you've discovered lately? I haven't read poetry in ages.
True that and same here, it's really stimulating to listen to those kinds of discussion videos.
Thanks so much BooksAreLife!! I don't think we were ever properly introduced lol I'm Eda (pronounced Ed-ah) :)
I couldn't agree more about sociology/psychology/anthropology and empathy and how it relates to reading!! I'm very fascinated with all of those topics too. I have a deep fascination with humanity and society. I love philosophising about it, I can have hours-long discussions on the topic and not get tired. Design on the other hand is just an interest. I was convinced to pursue it because it has good career prospects and seems interesting. I always promised myself I'd go after what I love because I don't think I can live any other way. I think I'll pursue Sociology and other humanities like anthropology. I originally wanted to do Archaeology because it combines all of my interests and apparently there's a high demand for them now in Australia because most archaeologists go overseas to countries like Greece/Turkey, Italy, etc. forgetting about the depth of culture and history we have here in Australia from the Aboriginals -- I'm pretty sure it's the oldest known records of civilisation of human beings ever and they're the oldest culture on earth which is pretty awesome. Somehow I was convinced to forget about archaeology, I can't remember why. Oh wait, now I remember. It was because I always kept going back to sociology. It wasn't so much that I wanted to learn about the past and discover artefacts -- I wanted to learn about the people themselves, their societies, their beliefs and values, and how they're different and similar to us now. Anyway, I guess we'll see what happens. I think my friend who is pursuing her passion for animation motivated me to pursue my passion for sociology. I'm excited but also kind of freaking out about uni. I'm going to feel like a kindergartener all over again >.< Also, I refuse to "adult" even though the idea and atmosphere of going to uni is putting pressure I think on everyone to act like an adult I guess. Anyway, thanks for the support, I really hope I end up doing what will be fulfilling, and the same goes for you :)
P.S. I just realised the quote in our replies to each other are literally just our usernames repeated over and over again in a pattern XD

Here's mine:
Already I know it's so wrong but I want it to happen and it's kinda possible okay... So Emma en..."
Yeah it was the birth-control rune

Haha, that's so crazy that the exact same thing happened to us! But I agree with you, Hufflepuff to the core :D And I will fight anyone who says that Hufflepuff is the "leftover" house, like c'mon broaden your mind, Hufflepuff is alot more than that!
BOOK GINNY IS THE GREATEST!! I actually love book Ginny she's awesome, and yeah Harry starts crushing on her in book 6, I love them :D In the movie Ginny was just so underdeveloped and in no way like her character, I don't blame or think its the actress's fault, the writing and directing for was just sooo bad! Like that shoelace scene in movie 6??!!!! IT MAKES ME CRINGE SO BADLY!!
It is! My friends all know how much I love to read and I'm always like READ THIS BOOK and when they do, its like yes I have accomplished everything I want in life :) Super glad you will be reading the Anne series :D
Books you read when you are a kid are always super special. You have all these memories attached to that book or series and its soo nice, gives you those nostalgic/sentimental feelings. I wasn't a huge reader as a kid, not in the way I am now, but I have so many memories of my mum taking me and my sister to the library and being like we aren't leaving till you find a book. It's not that I didn't like reading its that it was really hard to find a book that I was interested in but when I did I would devour it. Like I remember in grade 4 my teacher read to us the Witches by Roald Dahl and I LOVED IT!! I ended up getting it for my birthday and I remember reading it over and over again and then going on to read his other books Matilda etc. It wasn't until I read Harry Potter that I was pretty much set on the path that lead me to the reader I am today. Which is why Harry Potter means so much to me. I wouldn't be who I am if didn't read and I wouldn't be such a a lover of reading if it weren't for Harry Potter :) Did you always love to read or is there specific book or series that you can pinpoint for your love of reading?
I feel like all readers want to secretly (or not so secretly) become writers themselves. As readers we read and read and I think we sometimes reach a point were we say to ourselves "I want to do that". I, myself, have written here and there nothing like a fleshed out novel just small stories or even small snippets (that are probably terrible) but I'm with you I haven't written in a while and don't really feel a "pull" to it. But you never know 2017 will be a new yr maybe we will both have our creative juices flowing again :)
Ahh, I know that feeling!! Trying to rush through the book, its like no one understands YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK BEFORE THE MOVIE :D But I'm glad it all worked out for you and that you enjoyed it.
I love that you've been called "E.D. reincarnated" because you have the same initials as Emily Dickinson who is also one of your favorite poets, that's actually so great :D If you ever publish you should have one of those cool author names that use your initials :) Wow, I haven't written enough poems close enough to have a book! But you should totally do something with the, edit them write new ones. Let your inner E.D out again :)
I don't think I've read enough to have a favourite poet just yet. I actually got into poetry because I stumbled across spoken word poems/poets on youtube and I WAS LIKE THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER! This happened around the end of last yr. I used to watch so many and I just loved it and that lead me to writing my own poems which lead me to want to read written poetry. Have you heard spoken word before? There are alot of competitions in America for it and I think there are some in Australia, though not as huge. Here's is the link to one of my all time favourite spoken word poems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Wf8...
Sorry that I can't hyperlink it, its not working for me :\ but this poem is so powerful and the way he presents it gives me CHILLS!
No we haven't! Hello there! I love your name and thank you for telling me how to pronounce it, I suck at pronunciation and hate mispronouncing names. I'm BooksAreLife but most people in real life call me Ayah, pronounced I-ya :)
Same!! I love to have full on discussions with people about these types of subjects, they're so fascinating and complex and hearing other people's viewpoint is always interesting.
Design may give you career options but at the end of the day if you don't purse something you love and can't see yourself working in that field or using that education in 10 yrs time, what's the point? And subjects like humanities give you doorways to many career paths, because with a degree like that you can work in many different areas that allow you to incorporate the knowledge that you have :)
Its funny how you like something and think that's what you want to do and then after while realise the real reason you liked it. For example, I wanted to go into political journalism for a while but then the more I though about it the more I realised that wasn't really what I wanted. And now I'm really interested in International Relations and helping people in a humanitarian way.
What you said about most archaeologists forgetting how much history that we have here in Australia is verrrry true. More often than not in school we are taught more about the British side of Australia's history rather than the history/culture of Aboriginals and their civilisation. As you said, they are like one of the oldest surviving civilisations, so there so much that could be learnt and shared with the public.
I'm glad you are thinking about pursing sociology, from what you've written it sounds like you're super passionate about it which is very important :D
Haha, when my sister started uni it became a running joke in our house that she was going to her first day of school as she was a newbie, pretty much like starting kindergarten :) I'm going to college next yr (Australian college tho not like America when they say college and mean our uni, haha) so its not like I have to 100% have everything planed but its pretty much going to be my first yr were people expect me to know what I want to do. But its exciting and I'm excited to take the subjects that I want to do. I think the best thing I took from my sister was to do something you LOVE. It makes all the difference because all that studying, stress etc is for something that you're actually interested in. Hope that helps and it wasn't the cliche type advice that people tend to give :D and all the good vibes to you! :) and thank you, I hope I do something that is fulfilling. I think that word is a great way to describe what I aspire to do in my life, something fulfilling...
Haha, I noticed that too :D Shows how many times we've written to one another, which actually reminds me. I was wondering if you want to continue talking on goodreads private message thing just cos I think everyone else in this group is going to me scratching there heads thinking "hmm those don't look like predictions for LoS" :D

ikr and you're right, I was thinking the same thing. XD
I'm about to send the reply to your inbox.
SO I HAVE A THEORY, im not sure if it was already said because i didnt read all of the posts, but i like to think that Ty and Kit will become friends and help each other through all the stuff and become really close and either a. become parabatai or b. fall in love but Kit is not about any of that shadowhunter stuff plys im really liking the idea of them falling in love and maybe adding on another "forbidden love" but would that be too predictable maybe. idk tell me what you think but i would really like it. Cause on one hand jules is very protective and wouldnt like the idea. on another hand ty and kit have that sort of enemy vibe cause of the whole knife to the neck thing but that would just add on to the mystery and ambiance. I JUST REALLY LIKE THIS IDEA and im hoping cassie goes in this direction. although when i read her books, i get an idea that she already has all these stories planned out, as if she already had a full plot planned out since the beginning because it all fits together so well its a bit ghastly but i absolutely love it. i havent been able to read any other books because of this series and i loVE IT. im absolutely in love with this series and im very much loving Lady Midnight, i think its the best book by cassie so far and im even going to reread the mortal instruments cause i cant get out of this shadowhunters reading slump.

a sacrifice? bu t what kind of sacrifice whO WILL BE SACRIFICED! but one more thing i wanna touch on is the epilouge and anNABEL IS SHE ALIVE???? AND HOW???

YES! I already ship Ty and Kit so much!
Also Perfect Diego seems suspicious. I don't trust or like him.
Here's mine:
Already I know it's so wrong but I want it to happen and it's kinda possible okay... So Emma ends up pregnant because she was unprotected that night with Jules (even though she thought she was) and the baby has Blackthorn eyes, right? (that's why Cassandra made such a big deal of Jules' eye colour and Mark's Blackthorn coloured eye.) And because Mark agreed to more than just pretending with Emma, no one can actually tell if it's Mark's or Jules'. And if the baby has blonde hair it could be from Emma (if the father is Jules) or Mark, so no one will know if it was Jules or not and Emma can say it's Mark's either way.
Let me know what you think... ;)
