I'm looking forward to reading this one. I really liked Odd Hours (probably my next favourite after the 1st in the series). I want to read Odd Interlude too. Glad to hear you really enjoyed that one, Kristie. (Why was Odd Interlude not on the group reading list?)

Bleachy ozone tingled in my sinuses, but I trusted providence to prevent a sneeze, refused to worry, declined to dwell on negative possibilities, and I did not sneeze, did not sneeze, still did not sneeze, but then I farted.

Currently on chapter 14 and still don't know what on earth is going on!
I just finished this book yesterday and it was ok. I am getting frustrated the way Odd refuses to say certain words or refused to write them down; makes it seem like he's trying to be a righteous little kid who doesn't say bad words ~ it's starting to annoy me a lot. and I am totally stumped by the description he gave of the dialogue of Kenny's observation of his parents on page 62. I dogeared that page and kept going back to it trying to figure out what the words were, and then I got annoyed that he just couldn't write them down and finally gave up even trying to figure out what was said. I was really annoyed that Odd wrote "no matter how long you pondered the puzzle I've set before you, your solution would be the palest approximation of what he said?"
WTF? Why should I have to ponder a puzzle to find out what someone in the story said? Just write the freaking words down or leave out all the filler and make the story straighter to the point??
The ending left me feeling blah and by then I already knew Odd would save the day and be off towards another adventure.
I liked that this book is much more sci-fi and I enjoyed the time travel and Telsa pieces.
I'm beginning to be glad that there are only a couple more books in the series. This is the furthest I have gotten into a series, usually I read the first couple of books and move on to something new. I am not a series gal; I like new stories, new characters, new ideas. I don't want to make long commitments with characters in a book. I'm pretty surprised I've read this far and this many books into this series. The first book really hooked me and I've been reading the rest hoping to find that magic in one of them. It's like holding onto a friend too much hoping the old time fun returns and then feeling let down sort of that that the time you are spending with them now doesn't match up to the time you use to spend together.
Having said all that though, I know I will be journeying on with Odd and the next in the series as I have the last 2 books sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me to crack open and get into them.
I do love how they are a light read and I really like the humour in them. I could do without all the popular references; It's a formula for catching the reader and making them identify with the character or the time, but it's overdone to death in these Odd books. (I think Ernest Cline took his clue from Dean Koontz when he wrote Ready Player One, but I loved that book too.)
Anyone else feeling anything like I have been with this series?

Unfortunately this was my least favourite book of the series (quite dissapointing because the previous #4.1, 4.2, 4.3 read had been my favourite).
It took way too long to reveal any information about what was going on and once it finally got going, the book was saturated with science details / history that I didn't necessarily understand (admittedly a lot of that had to do with me getting bored and skipping)
The story behind the evil and who Odd was saving was pretty heartbreaking, however we didn't find that out until very close to the end so I found myself not really caring.
And for me, there was a lot less humour in this story which was a majory negative for me.

Well try not to get put off by me, I always get the impression you have a lot more patience for books than me. I don't think it will be one of your favourites but you might like it more than me.
2 stars was a harsh rating, truth is I was wavering between 2 and 3.

I'm finding it interesting enough, though I clearly don't really know what's going on there.
One more thought, I was thinking that it's good that Annamaria and her vague responses hasn't been in this book too much, but Koontz seems to love the vague responses and added in all these characters with secrets, such as the cook, who are just as bad. lol
