5. According to Francis de Sales, what is the devout life? Do you agree? Is this a useful definition for you?

I think, in my words, I would describe St. Francis de Sales' view of the devout life as a life lived fully in the joy of the love of God, in which every word, every deed, is motivated by that love. I find that a daunting idea, but at the same time one I, like everyone else, is called to.

I completely agree that the devout life is for every Christian and not the special preserve of priests and religious.

Has anybody who read the "Introduction to the Devout Life" also read William Law's "A serious call to a devout and holy life"? If so, how do they compare?
