Ok guys, this is like "Predictions for Lodestar based on Chapter One but I know that some of you probably don't want to read Chapter One because of the cliffhanger everyone keeps posting about, so instead of posting this on 'Predictions,' I am creating a totally new discussion." Now that we have gotten past what this discusson is about,

MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU HAVEN'T OR DON'T WANT TO READ CHAPTER ONE (To read it go to keeperofthelostcities.com, scroll down to Lodestar, and click, 'Read an Excerpt') EITHER READ THE PREFACE AND CHAPTER ONE OR STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISCUSSION--it will only be active for about four days, anyway.

So, we will basically run this game by someone asking a question(s) and people posting answers and question back to back. Of course, if you only want to answer, that's fine, but make sure that everyone's questions have been answered at least once. Now, LET'S ROLL!!!!!!!

Q 1) Think about Fitz's reactions to everything Sophie does. What hints do you see to prove that he likes her?

Q 2) Sophie thinks that Fitz will never think of her 'that way' aka 'the way she feels about him.' What future conflicts do you predict this way of thinking will cause for Fitz\Sophitz?

THE QUESTION WE'VE ALL BEEN THINKING AFTER READING THE END...

Q 3) Keefe. We didn't we'd be seeing him anytime soon. And then-you see him at the end of Chapter One. BOOM.
Why do you think Keefe is at Foxfire, wanting to talk about something to Sophie-ALONE, and what was your reaction?


Answer and another short question: Personally, I had thought that the one good thing that would come out of Keefe staying away would be Sophitz evolution-- but he's back already-- I am bummed, and from some comments in the book, I fear that Sophie *might* like Keefe just a teeny bit. Of course, a lot more comments were made that gave Sophitz a HUGE advantage, so I am fairly optimistic. What about you?

First of all, when he gives her the ring he says that it might help them concentrate, but I thought, how would being able to have your hands linked improve concentration? I think that he used that as an excuse to get her a ring, and also why did he put his initials on it?

I think that Fitz maybe feels the same way. That Sophie would never think of HIM that way. I think that they will both be discouraged from telling each other their feelings in fear that the other won't reciprocate them, but it will eventually slip out and turn into a huge Awwwwwww moment for all of us.

On the back flap it says: so when Sophie is warned that the ones she loves most will be the next victims she knows she has to act. I think that Keefe may be their to warn her about this. At least that's my take on it.

I'm still pretty optimistic about Sophitz to. I still see no proof that Sophie likes Keefe but I definitely see some proof that Sophie likes Fitz and Fitz likes Sophie.

Q1) am I the only one that saw some dexiana action? What did you think of that?

Q2) any idea's on the scroll that's supposed to arrive on the
weekend?

Q3) I am officially on board ship grandor!!! (Sandor and grizel) any one else tidally love it?

A1) You are not the only one--I think I'm starting to ship it!!!!!!!

A2) I have NO idea on the scroll arriving on the weekend--maybe it's about the alicorns being released--I truly hope the Council's not that stupid, though.

AND WOW, your revelations\answers are pretty close the ones in my head!!!!!!!


Q1) Why do you think Sophie's present from Fitz was teal? Was it like Sophie had guessed, that Fitz somehow knew her favorite color, or was it something else...(like last year Sophie gave him an Albertasaurous model [I did NOT spell that right] to remind Fitz of her, and now maybe Fitz gave her the ring WITH HIS INITIALS, FOR GOODNESS SAKE in TEAL wrapping to remind Sophie of him?)

Q2) Do you think that there is no way there will be a Sophex (Sophie and Dex) from what you read in the chapter about her hugging Dex a little too long--like she didn't want to give him hope?

Q3) Fitz's reaction to Keefe's betrayal was completely different from Alvar's betrayal--are you worried about him? I am, but I think Sophie will help him with it in their Cognate sessions, or of course, Keefe will come back and meet him very soon.

Q4) Three weeks have passed since the end of Neverseen. I think that not much happened in those three weeks, or else the book wouldn't start where it did. If three weeks passed, shouldn't Sophie and Fitz have had more time to talk about Keefe's betrayal (in their Cognate lessons) but instead, Sophie says they didn't have time to talk about it. Why? And where is Prentice? Is he "regrouping" with the Black Swan?

Q5) Fitz says that Biana told him that the riddler Fitz gave Sophie last year was a total fail--a total fail to impress her?

Q6) Also, Sophie thinks that she likes the riddler a little TOO much, but Fitz thinks she hates it. What do their reactions tell you? For me, it's Sophitz!!!!!!!




Also, do you also have the feeling that Lodestar is going to be the best book so far? The Keeper books get progressively better. Can't wait for the title of the sixth book!!!!!!!

A1) I HAVE NO IDEA BUT THAT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY IF THAT IS TRUE!!!!

A2) I still don't see Sophex. That hug probably was just a friendly hug. Obviously Sophie feels no attraction to Dex or we would know by now.

A3) I believe that too. It says that he just doesn't want to talk about it EVER, so that probably means that he's extremely sad about it. I predict a big Sophitz scene where Sophie comforts him about it.

A4) like I said in 3. Sophie makes it very clear that Fitz doesn't want to talk about it. He doesn't mention it. He probably knows that if he does his calm strong facade will crumble and Sophie will see the sadness he's hiding. I think that when in Neverseen it says that Prentice is awake, it means that he isn't asleep anymore. I still think that his mind Is broken and will need to be healed.

Q1) anyone else think that ruffle puffs sound DELICIOUS!!!!

And I know this is kinda stupid, but it makes me so happy that mint is Fitz favorite flavor too. I love mint flavored things. And the other flavor, toffee or whatever, sounds delicious too.
Also, I want peanut brittle now. (Prattles pins always remind me of peanut brittle... Yum!)

So. Cute. And it gives me hope that Dexiana could actually happen. Before it was just me being impossible.
Did anywone else sense some romance there?

SOPHITZ-Oh yes. This definetely means Sophitz
I think Rather is right. From this scene, it kinda looks to me like Fitz has a VERY SECRET crush on her...
And also maybe that Biana knows and has been giving him advice on it.
Remember that time when he was SO EXCITED to be her cognate? I think most of us thought that he meant that it was a superadvanced telepathy skill... But maybe it was also cuz he liked the idea of being the closest one to Sophie....
Or the time Biana said something to Sophie about Dex "Fighting a losing battle." It doesn't really make sense for him to be fighting Fitz for Sophie if Fitz didn't also like her. I thought it was just Biana being Biana, but it could also mean he DOES have a crush on Sophie and Biana knows.

And the Riddler pen. What I do when I have a crush on someone is just treat them like a friend and be SUPER CAREFUL not to do anything that's even close to being weird or romantic-y, just treat them like a NORMAL FRIEND.
Maybe Fitz was doing that to. Maybe he gave her "The same lame present he gave everyone else." specifically so she wouldn't suspect he liked her back.

Or all the bajillions of Crush Cuffs that Fitz got, that he never wore any of? It might just because he thought all the girls who gave them to him were lame... Or it might be because he liked someone else.

And... The teal fabric. More Biana advice? Something he picked up from Cognate training? Or is Fitz just more perceptive than we thought? I can't begin to untangle this one... What do you think?

3. Do you agree with my theory that Biana is secretely a mastermind matchmaker and is totally manipulating All the Ships, or do you think I'm just crazy? (Or both. The two are not mutually exclusive.)

6. And does anyone else now have an irrational desire to go draw fanart of those Cognate rings?

A2) I like it, but I kind of picture Biana with someone else, maybe Keefe. I don't know...

A3) I have no idea, but I do know that Biana is really observant or perceptive.

A4) I like it, but I don't really see it YET :)

A5) Maybe Fitz knows...or maybe he just likes the color too...OOH, same interests...

Q3) Do you really believe that Sophitz is going to sail all the way?

Q4) Do you hope for more Cognate sessions? Or telepathy sessions? I do!!!! Those are one my favorite scenes.

Ok. Those are my top five questions :) I tried to narrow it down. ;)

Maybe Jensi with...Marella? Idk because I basically only shipped Sophitz until now--I am starting to ship Dexiana!!!!!! But Sophitz is still my life and I think that it is going to sail. I think Keefe will redeem himself. Iggy! I love the imp! I hope we see more of Iggy in this book,

And I definetely want ro see more Cognate lessons in action!!!!!

I alao agree with you guys--I think Fitz has a secret crush on Sophie.

I also ship Sanzel! (I want to know more about Grizel, though. Wouldn't it be cute if the bodyguards of Sophitz fell in love?)

hey guys,after reading the excerpt Shannon posted,i found something out..
It's kinda subtle but i think SOPHITZ just might sail!!!

Firstly,i was kinda put off by the "and yet,the teasing words made Sophie wish she'd turn and find a different boy" ugh.BUT then i read the part where Fitz gave Sophie her present...

1.Fitz was worried about his gift being another disappointment
2.He carefully decorated her gift (but it might be Biana's skills?)
3.He was seriously happy when he found out Sophie gave him Ripplefluffs
4.He opened the present immediately,which might mean he was excited to know what she got him?
5.He totally loved the baked goods since he ate it in one whole bite
6.He wanted her to open his present while they were alone xD
7.When their hands connected,he started sprouting information which means he is either embarrassed or excited.
8.He was worried she didn't like the gift,and he obviously went through a lot to find her a perfect gift if it means he let Biana drag him to a jewelry store,right?


Another important thing i noticed was that Grizel,Fitz's goblin bodyguard is sorta flirting with Sandor,Sophie's goblin bodyguard.
My theory is that it's like a reverse relationship,meaning Grizel n Sandor's relationship equals Sophie n Fitz's relationship,get it?

So do you guys agree?

AND UGH I DONT KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT KEEFE UGH

A1)I HAVE NO IDEA HONESTLY,but it might have something to do with Foxfire's normal 6-week holiday since Magnate-Leto-Mr-Forkle said "Council has decided to do things a little differently" so something to prepare for the elvin-ogre treaty?

A2)Hopefully ones that make us grin until our cheeks hurt and more sweet moments!!!

Q1)What celebration do u guys think Sophie is referring to in Preface?

Q2)WHERE IS TAM AND LINH???Do you guys think they'll attend Foxfire too?I was hoping for that!!

Q3)Where is Fitz.or rather,the rest of the gang while Sophie is running after the NEVERSEEN?

A1) I have no idea. I also have absolutely no guesses :/

A2) I feel like Shannon is going to bring Tam and Linh back, and they are going to play some major role in the story. I dont know if they will attend Foxfire.

A3) They will probably arrive at the time you least expect it. :)

Q1) Do you think that the Council is going to be banished or destoyed in this book?

Q2) Going on the Tam and Linh subject, do you think that they will end up with anyone?

Q3) What do you think Silveny's baby alicoen is going to be named? Also, if Keefe comes back, what do you think his nickname will be for her?

Q4) Do you think that this book will have a happy ending?

Q5) Do you think that they are going to go back to the human world, and the elves are going to create a truce with the humans again?

Well, I certainly hope Lodestar has a good ending, but I am sure that it will probably end in either a cliffhanger or happy note--or maybe it will have a infuriating ending--I do not know, especially since there will be a book 6 and 7. I have no idea what the baby alicorn's name wil be and do not want to nuess because it will probabnly be wrong and I will be disappointed--and I DO NOT want to be disappointed abou anything in Lodestar.

And Bibliomaniac, I think your observations are spot on!!!!!!

Q1) Like some pointed out, Fitz starts babbling things when Sophie's and his hands are connected by the ring. How do you feel about that?

A) I don't know. I also was thinking, he says that it would help them concentrate, but I think it's just an excuse to get her a ring and to have a way to (almost) hold her hand.

I agree, but I also think that he made it to remind her of him!!!!!

(Which just seems more Fitzzzzey, ya know?)

Q1) Why haven't the Black Swan contacted Sophie yet? Are they really "regrouping" or are they avoiding the kids for some reason? Will they contact Sophie after the scroll is released?

Q2) Silveny promised Sophie, "Friend. Visit soon." When exactly do you think she will do this? In the first half, middle, or near the ending?

Q3) Like Amelia said, that Biana is playing a secret matchmaking role--do you think she'll BECOME a matchmaker--who actually MAKES the scrolls?

Q4) DO you think that Biana will be okay with Sophitz--or is she actually Trying to push Sophie and Fitz together?


Answer and more revelations/observations:

Based on all the odd remarks Biana has made--mostly in Everblaze and Neverseen, I definitely think that she's okay with Sophitz. Sounds like she actually WANTS it!!!!!!!!

"You think I want to stay with people who are calling my best friend and brother..."

There you go. The words. BEST FRIEND AND BROTHER. For some reason, they make me think that she wants Sophitz.

She also talks about Dex fighting a losing battle--if that isn't proof that Biana definitely wants Sophitz, I don't know what is.

So personally, I don't think Sophie should worry about Biana not liking Sophitz--like she thinks in Neverseen.
