Hi guys. I'm doing some market research and I am curious to know what is liked in romance novels and not liked? I.e. Cliches to be avoided, a happy ever after, and if not, why?.

I like it when you're not sure who will end up with who. With a lot of romances you know the heroine will end up with a specific guy right from the start. It's fund having several men in the plot and you're not sure which one she'll end up with.

Most modern romances also seem to feature a woman who's ditzy and disorganized. These just depress me. It's like living in a student flat and constantly being confronted with piles of washing up in the sink and an overflowing bin that nobody wants to take out. Just once it would be nice to have a heroine who doesn't lurch from disaster to disaster.
