Deeply Odd is the sixth book in the Odd Thomas Series. The group is reading the series in preparation for reading the Horror Category Winner Saint Odd later in the year.

Deeply Odd (Odd Thomas, #6) by Dean Koontz
In a sinister encounter with a rogue truck driver tricked up like a rhinestone cowboy, Odd has a disturbing vision of a shocking multiple homicide that has not yet been committed. Across California, into Nevada, and back again, Odd embarks on a riveting road chase to prevent the tragedy.

Along the way, he meets--and charms--a collection of eccentrics who become his allies in a terrifying battle against a sociopath of singular boldness and cleverness--and a shadowy network of mysterious, like-minded murderers whose chilling resources seem almost supernatural.

I've just started and got to chapter 3, which I have to say has been actioned packed so far!

I am going to quote something from Chapter 1 though, as I found it hilarious.

Quote
I'm not one who believes that a vehicle can be possessed by a demonic spirit and, driverless, speed around town to run down people for the thrill of tasting blood with its tires, any more than I believe that herbie, the Volkswagen in that series of Disney movies, had a mind of its own with a desire to bring lovers together and to thwart villains. If you believe the former, you have believe the latter, and the next thing you know, you'll be taking your Ford, with its sexy GPS voice, to the car wash just to see her naked and soapy.

:D
Oh Odd, there indeed some people who are like that lol

Hahaha, Lynn. I love Odd's humor.

Paula S (paula_s) | 36 comments I finished the book this morning and am looking forward to the next. I really like his new allies, even though they (as usual in this series) are ridiculously mysterious.

I was just coming on here to say that I've finished chapter 4 and despite the mysteriousness I have a feeling I'm really going to enjoy the new character of Edie that's been introduced.

So far, so good with this book - I'm really enjoying it so far.

It does look like Annamaria is going to be in the background again for this one (I'm guessing she's going to be pivotal in the next and last one?)

I'm now on Chapter 18 but at Chapter 15 we had an appearance from Annamarie ...... (view spoiler)

I'm pretty sure we'll still not get answers about her in this book though.

Finished and this is my favourite of the series so far.

Great Odd humour / banter, fabulous new characters introduced, an evil that is entirely believable and creepy, an action packed fast paced story, and most importantly despite the plot still full of mystery I understood what was happening right from the start.

I forgot to mention that I finished! I thought this was another good addition to the series. I'm not sure if it's my favorite, but one of the better ones for sure.

I'm a bit sad to be coming to the last book in the series because (view spoiler)
