I may join in on this one. Been wanting to read it awhile. I have this and Usher's Passing I was planning to read this month.

By all means, the more the merrier!

I loved the prologue! It felt like the combination of watching an old Hammer film mixed with an EC comic, Tales from the Crypt or Vault of the Dead.

Through Chapter 3 - McCammon introducing us to new characters in each chapter and I feel like I have a solid visual and understanding of each one. In my opinion, this has always been where McCammon has shined. His character and descriptions of them are so detailed that it feels like you could reach out and touch them.

Ugh I'm so slow and behind every book for every thing/challenge this month. Sorry Ken I will start this one soon. I have a peridontist apt today but after that will get some reading in. Have to finish up another book too that's frankly boring.

Don't you hate when you're stuck reading a book that you don't like? There are so many other ones out there that you want to jump into! But, I'm kind of a completionist. I hate to not finish reading something that I've started. Are you like that too?

Yes pretty much. Also I keep hoping it will get better. It's Moon by James Herbert, so we'll see.

I did start They Thirst today. Creepy intro, I liked it. Not sure what to think yet on Kobra.

I'm afraid this one didn't grab me. I'm too impatient for slow beginnings.

13% - (view spoiler)[ I love the idea of digging up coffins from the local cemetary and just chucking the bodies aside. Great visual and out of all the vampire movies and books I've devoured through the years, I think this is the first that I've ever seen do that. The idea is so simple. And once Palatazin hears about it, he craps his pants. Love, love how this is shaping up.

Sadly I haven't been able to read any more of it. I've been wanting to get back to it though. The characters weren't standing out yet (at the beginning) Other than the demented Kobra introduction.

I apologize for being so late, but I have started the book and so far I really like it.

There you are! I finished this up tonight and loved it. I'll be commenting on here about the different stages in the book and would love to hear what you think of it as you get through the same stages.

I still haven't progressed much - with this book or many others. Haven't had much reading time, such a shame!

This is my second favourite McCammon novel, next to Stinger. An ensuing vampire apocalypse against an L.A. backdrop is so vibrant and colourful, and in typical fashion, he creates memorable villains. I really need to read this again!

Don't kill me but I'm still reading this book.

I enjoy it but it never hooked-hooked me so I keep losing track of it. Right now still halfway through.

I'm not sure what the overall story will be and think the characters change focus a bit, but I just need to sit down and give it more of a chance. It will probably be one of those cases where I like the second half more.
