Honestly, I really like when the lines between adult and YA fantasy are blurred. I feel like Crooked Kingdom did that really well. It wasn't so adult as to be inappropriate for teens, but it was definitely more complex and involved than most ya fantasy. So I guess I like when an author can keep me on my toes and surprise me while refraining from to much gore, sex, etc. for unnecessary shock factor.

I'm with you. I like both a healthy mix of YA and Adult Fantasy.
