Shae Petersen | 4 comments Just realised there was a thread for this book. Is anyone planning to read this for the upcoming readathon?

message 11: by Allie (new)

Allie (alliehillnovels) I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did! I'm on book 2 (A Wise Man's Fear) and will try and make a dent in it during the read-a-thon. In between Mass Effect Andromeda binges of course.

message 12: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (goodreadscomrumbelle517) I started this one already, so I'm going to continue it for this round.

message 15: by Peggy (new)

Peggy Gordon (m0bscene85) Im hoping to get to this one. I started reading it last year and got side tracked....so i have it on my TBR for this round.
Anyone else find the difference between adult fantasy and ya fantasy refreshing?

Honestly, I really like when the lines between adult and YA fantasy are blurred. I feel like Crooked Kingdom did that really well. It wasn't so adult as to be inappropriate for teens, but it was definitely more complex and involved than most ya fantasy. So I guess I like when an author can keep me on my toes and surprise me while refraining from to much gore, sex, etc. for unnecessary shock factor.

I'm with you. I like both a healthy mix of YA and Adult Fantasy.

message 18: by Rachelle (new)

Rachelle Hamilton (superbeautifumonster) | 9 comments I am jumping on this one hard. I don't even really know what its about, but it falls right into my happy place. I look forward to discovering it with you all.

message 19: by Min (new)

Min (miin) | 1 comments I'm hoping to read this one during the readathon as well. I'll probably pick up The Invasion of the Tearling first though, just because I'm really curious about what happens to that series, but yes, this book!!! I've heard so many good things about it!

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Schultz | 8 comments I'm going to start reading this one (well, listening on audiobook) as soon as I'm done with Darker Shade of Magic - got it all queued up on my phone!

message 23: by Tomeka (new)

Tomeka (colormefabreading) | 1 comments I'm partially intrigued by this Tome and partially intimidated. Nevertheless, I hope to start this one tomorrow. I have about 100 pages left of A Gathering of Shadows so I want to finish that one before I dive into this world. Cant wait to discuss.

message 24: by Shi (new)

Shi Reads (nerdbeauty) | 11 comments Is it weird that the name of the book is said on page 4? I'm just really used to a name drop being closer to the end.

message 25: by Ami (new)

Ami (amiradelal) | 2 comments Just started this today! Finally. Have had it on my shelf for years and tried starting it once 6 months ago but only got 10pages in.

On page 54 already thanks to the reading sprints on twitter :)

message 26: by Rachelle (new)

Rachelle Hamilton (superbeautifumonster) | 9 comments I'm so glad I didn't know anything about this book going into it! Loving it so far

I was shocked about this as well, werid

message 28: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (goodreadscomrumbelle517) I really like the magic system in this book. I have always compared magic to science, so even though I have a pet peeve about people getting fantasy and science fiction mixed up, I like it when they compare magic and science.

message 29: by Esther (new)

Esther | 2 comments On page 587 loving it so far, great pacing as well.

message 33: by Juliana (last edited Apr 11, 2017 06:57AM) (new)

Juliana Giacobelli (jugiacobelli) | 1 comments The Name of the Wind is probably my favorite book EVER. It's just perfect. Pat's writing is so good and the story has so many layers you can read it over and over and just get something new out of it. It's how fantasy should be, you know, right next to Martin and Hobb. I totally blame it for my high standards concerning fantasy lol

I hope you like it :D

message 34: by Ami (new)

Ami (amiradelal) | 2 comments Just finished it! Can't believe I've been holding on to it for years without picking it up to read. Well, I finally did and finished my first tome in the readathon.

message 35: by Shi (new)

Shi Reads (nerdbeauty) | 11 comments Finished yesterday. it was certainly well written and I thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed it. I just wasn't surprised at any of the "twists" Rothfuss tried to throw at us. I'll still read the second one.

message 36: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (goodreadscomrumbelle517) I'm on chapter Sixty-five. I'm really enjoying it and I love Rothfuss' writing style. I like how some of the chapters are short. It makes it quicker to get through.

message 37: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Schultz | 8 comments I am on Chapter 22, and listening to it on audiobook. This book seemed to take forever to get going, but now that I'm reading I'm entranced by the story.
