Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them discussion

I live in Canada, but most of the t.v. stations are either from the States or feature American commercials. Every commercial said this movie would be out November 18. However, our local theatre played it on November 17 at 7:30 at night. Was this an advance screening, or did most of us see it open on that date?
