i think that we get a much more anxiety ridden plot line and story than usual as well, but all in all i think you'll be happy.

If only there was more science in it idk. It's been an unusual read.

If you're looking for another story like Twilight, keep looking. If you're looking for a more adult book with a kick ass female heroine, tons of action, a strong love story, and a story that NEVER lulls, then this is the book for you.

By page 140 it is drastically going off the rails and another hundred pages and it is in the realm of a ruined story.
Instead of dwelling on various elements I'll just link my review.

The author misses their own point of creating the characters in this story: bad guys die. Except when they don't. By not understanding what makes various elements in this story compelling and the necessary underlying conflict vital is the saddest mistake and error of all.
This could have been really good. Instead it deteriorates from page 50 all the way to the end.

I think you mean to say you can't "empathize" with her. And I believe you missed understanding WHY she may have seemed more detached and or socially awkward. The whole point is that throughout her whole life she has had limited social interaction; she was a loner. Furthermore, being buried in her work for so long magnified this problem which in effect highly stunted her people skills, ability to pick up on social cues and react as a "normal" person would.
The whole story is about her discovering humanity and how people work and interact. She even admits that she's socially inept. She's not cold, she's just extremely inexperienced. Daniel understands that about her.
If you didn't get that and couldn't read past the "hard" exterior, I'm not surprised you didn't like the book.

In general... it was.... well, I can't quite generalize it.
The characters themselves were great - they seemed real, humorous, conflicting. The romance, on the other hand...
As far as plot and story goes, it's alright. The images are violent enough to keep you awake, and the main conflict is well thought out. Nothing new, I suppose.
Overall, I haven't read Stephanie Meyer before, and this book decided my opinion of her: she's probably highly capable of producing a masterpiece, but this one just isn't quite it. Nonetheless, I'll continue reading her work (purely out of the fact that, well, I read everything and anything).

Towards the middle of the book I struggled to stay interested in the plot, and at the end I was forcing myself to finish instead of really enjoying the story. I would have loved to see more of her interrogations even if they were done through flashbacks.

Same here. Alex and Kevin's relationship looked real and Daniel wasn't THE character anyone can like.
