Not sure you want me to remove the mankini Pat!
This is one of my goals for this year to: to just enjoy reading whatever takes my fancy.
Thank you Charlotte and Pat. :)
....and my first re-read of the year is Charlie And The Chocolate Factory I got an overwhelming urge to read this all of a sudden as I cracked open my first christmas chocolate orange.
...ok I got three chocolate oranges for christmas but I will not be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when I get round to eating the other two.

Used to get a chocolate orange every Christmas and I can't stand them! Which version of the films do you prefer Catherine?
I don't like either film really as they are nothing at all like the book. But if I was forced to watch one of them, it would be the Gene Wilder version, slightly better than the Johnny Depp one.
I do love chocolate oranges though. But only have them at Christmas.

The Johnny Depp one sucks, it is totally charmless IMO! The Gene Wilder version at least has quite a nice Charlie and Grandad, and the Oompa Loompa song in its favour.
This is the nice thing about having a 7yo, being able to revisit Dahl.
And Chocolate Oranges should only be sold at Christmas I think. And Creme Eggs only at Easter.
*Gavel*

I am not a fan of Depp, but prefer that film.
Never bought a creme egg since they changed the recipe

I have never bought a creme egg since they changed the recipe either! I also don't like the way they changed the pack sizes from a dozen or half-dozen (mimicking the way we buy eggs) to 5 or 10 in a box. I'd rather pay more and keep the cute eggishness.
We've gone further than that in our house and boycott anything made by Mondelez after watching a documentary on their buying out of Cadbury's. Their practices are disgusting.
...and that will also be why Toblerone have changed shape after all these years. It's nothing to do with making it easier to eat (after all people have been eating it for years with no problem) and all to do with there being less chocolate in the bar as a consequence and saving the company money.

...but I have no 7 yo as an excuse for reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory....just my stomach.
I don't know anything about Modelez – will read up on them, although I don't think I need anything else to be cross about right now! Since Nestle are also evil, to boycott both would cut my options to eat trashy chocolate almost entirely, which is probably a good thing.
7yos totally get in the way of reading generally, so wouldn't recommend on the whole :)

There is one exception though and that is to read a book I keep starting and giving up 50-60 pages in, in order to read something quicker! I intend to read The Isles: A History.
