Michelle Gaddis | 19 comments I don't know if I'm picky or what lol but I'm looking for a series with the same main character through out the whole series I have been reading a lot of books for the past week and they are not what I was hoping . I love action I love romance. I really like the Anita Blake series and I really really like the night huntress series I like the bad ass chick having a hot vamp chasing her lol can anyone give me any suggestions

Michelle Gaddis | 19 comments oh and I really really liked the Chicago land series by Chloe Neil

Josephine McNabb | 12 comments midnight breed is good, it's not as in ur face as black dagger brotherhood but both are really Good. vampire academy was a good series, its a YA.

message 4: by Brandy (new)

Brandy There is nothing wrong with being picky. That is why there are so many authors and books out there. I sure hope that if you find a great series you will share with the rest of us. I personally haven't found a Vampire series I love, yet. But there are a lot of really cool paranormal or urban fantasy series out.

Michelle Gaddis | 19 comments I'll let everyone know if I find one heck I'm still trying to find something to read lol

Oleander | 18 comments The Sookie Stackhouse series has the same characters. She has more than one vamp chasing her too.

Leiah Cooper (leiahingolden) | 332 comments I am probably way behind the curve on discovering this series, but I just found Connie Suttle and her Blood Destiny Series, https://www.goodreads.com/series/6809... is amazingly good. Strong characters, great world building, exceptional continuity in the story lines. I haven't written reviews yet, I have been too busy, but they are well worth reading if you like complex story lines and well developed world building.

Here is the series in order:
Blood Wager (Blood Destiny, #1) by Connie Suttle Blood Passage (Blood Destiny, #2) by Connie Suttle Blood Sense (Blood Destiny, #3) by Connie Suttle Blood Domination (Blood Destiny, #4) by Connie Suttle Blood Royal (Blood Destiny. #5) by Connie Suttle Blood Queen (Blood Destiny, #6) by Connie Suttle Blood Rebellion (Blood Destiny, #7) by Connie Suttle Blood War (Blood Destiny, #8) by Connie Suttle Blood Redemption (Blood Destiny, #9) by Connie Suttle Blood Reunion (Blood Destiny #10) by Connie Suttle

To tell you the truth, I am not big on vamps (too much time spent in morgues!) but these are really interesting characters.

Something else a bit unusual: Raven's Blood (Moon Virus) by Cassandra Lawson by Cassandra Lawson. My review is here:

http://tinyurl.com/kt3aa73

If you love vampires but are ready for a new "twist" on the genre, I recommend it.

Another series that I found is written by Dana Cameron. Dana Cameron Seven Kinds of Hell (Fangborn, #1) by Dana Cameron is the first in Ms. Cameron's series which turns the whole idea of vampires on it's head and gives us a wonderful new view of the species - and the genre of the Urban Fantasy Vampire. My review is here:

http://tinyurl.com/khdpuvk

For Seven Kinds of Hell, and here:

http://tinyurl.com/m32lm4o

For the second in the series, Pack of Strays (Fangborn, #2) by Dana Cameron

None of these books are "simplistic" they all have multiple characters and story lines, and nobody sleeps in a coffin - or even have a problem with the sun in most cases. Nope, these are creative, wonderful depictions of creatures in a whole new "light" (grin)

You are welcome! Lissa's life is pure hell - and what she goes through is often heartbreaking, but she is one of the strongest, most noble female characters I have come across in a long time. I read the first six while I was sick in bed - they were like potato chips or popcorn, you can't stop!

message 10: by Susan (new)

Susan Stec (thegratefulundead) | 95 comments I'll add the first of the Blood Destiny series to my shelf, too. It doesn't sound all romance (hate that), or all cloak and dagger either, and it has an interesting blurb. Thanks "So, I Read This Book Today", LOL I like your humor.

I've read the whole Stackhouse series (Charlaine Harris rocks), half of JR Rain's Samantha Moon series, two of Christopher Moore's "A love Story" series, and a couple of Rose Pressey's vamp books.

Searching for a new favorite author (or 2 or 3 :). Love some humor, kick ass woman protagonists, and a bit of the dark side.

I hope you will like the books I offered for consideration. No, Blood Destiny is not all romance - that does become a true consideration but not until about book four or so. Early on she is pursued by a vamp, but he is a raging penis head who doesn't deserve her! LOL

BEST SERIES EVER!

These Violent Delights (Robin) How about Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series (it has some vampire action, not a total vampire series, but it is very good. I would recommend it to any Night Huntress fan)

the series includes: Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson, #3) by Patricia Briggs Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson, #5) by Patricia Briggs River Marked (Mercy Thompson, #6) by Patricia Briggs Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs Night Broken (Mercy Thompson, #8) by Patricia Briggs

message 26: by Stine (new)

Stine | 15 comments I totally agree with you, and it looks like we like the same type of books. I liked the Anita Blakes series too, but i think it went too far after the 12th book. Have you read Red-Headed Stepchild? I really like that series. Another one which has a kick ass character is Skinwalker. Even thou this book is not a vampire book, it still has a kick ass character Priceless. I was really hooked with all of these series, and they are some of my treasures.

I second the Mercy Thompson series. Even thou its not purely vampire romance, i think this is an excellent series for people with the love of strong minded/kick-ass characters.

Leiah Cooper (leiahingolden) | 332 comments OK - now, as I wipe egg off my face and try to pull my head out of my backside.....

Sigh. I just don't understand myself sometimes!!!!

I am proofing the third edition of The Dowser Series by Meghan Ciana Doidge. I can't BELIEVE that I didn't mention her books right off! Meghan Ciana Doidge

Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic (The Dowser, #1) by Meghan Ciana Doidge
Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic by Meghan Ciana Doidge Treasures, Demons, and Other Black Magic by Meghan Ciana Doidge

These books are awesome! And no, I am not saying that just because I consider Meghan a friend as well as a client. They really ARE that good.

Here is my review of "Cupcakes":

http://tinyurl.com/mubfo2a

And my review of "Trinkets":

http://tinyurl.com/lp3ofo2

I am 78 pages into the final proof of "Treasures" right now (I should have gone to bed a couple hours ago, but DARN this book is good!!!)

"I just hoped that before the chaos and mayhem renewed, I’d manage to get my hands on some chocolate. It didn’t even have to be single-origin Madagascar. I was utterly prepared to lower my standards."

The release is scheduled for the 19th, so keep an eye out for it. I will be posting my review at some point before that - need to get a date from Meghan.

Oh! And if you get a chance read the rest of her work too. My favorite, other than Jade's story, is Spirit Binder (The Cascadian Chronicles #1) by Meghan Ciana Doidge My review is here:

http://tinyurl.com/qevme8v

And the cover for "Spirit" is totally awesome... of course, the new "Dowser" covers are great too, so what can I say? Grin.
